I thought the Canadian thing to do would be to rake them all into a big pile.

As said before, any excuse to post this again!

Personally, I'd like to see some Muslims on the MoFo! (arguing with liberals who really know very little about Islam is a waste) :D

We did have a few, but they've stopped coming. I'll always stand behind free speech, I just hope they didn't feel unwanted.

Now I feel responsible. :(
(For everyone - just because I don't like your religion - and there aren't many that I actually "like" - doesn't mean I don't like you!) :)

I've been lucky to travel through quite a few muslim countries. I've never had a problem. Met some lovely mzzies in NYC when I was visiting. Got hugs from them when I left. An older couple living next door are from Iran. Nicest neighbours I have ever had. My butcher's assistant is Iranian as well. Absolutely gorgeous woman and she told me if I go to Iran her family would let me stay with them and show me the sights. They're not all like the cretins at isil who hide behind the Qu'ran as an excuse to blow off their disenfranchised mental illness. Don't believe all the negative hype, guys. Some of the most hospitable people I have met have been afghans. It's one of their tenants that they never refuse a traveller.

You should get an avatar. I just can't trust someone without an avatar. :suspicious:

But seriously, you're all welcome. Just keep it cordial. But really, get an avatar.

For my avatar? Hey I could use my brother's film reel but I think I'd be pushing my luck.

The esteemed yoda suggested I ask you guys for suggestions. Have to duck to the shops but will come back and tell you what movies, actors I like.

In times of Brexit and Trump... who'd have thunk a website on the interwebnet would be a place that welcomes refugees.

MoFo rules.

Hello, my name is WPlains and I am an IMDB exile. :D I feel we´ve been exiled from IMDb more than made refugees. We were unceremoniously kicked out. Sad, I was there almost daily for 11 years. A friend told me about this site so here I am hoping to have a good time and make some nice friends. Cheers all.

Thank you very much. I am learning to navigate my way around. So far it seems pretty straightforward. I hope you will give me a helping hand if I need one. :) Can you talk about TV shows too? I have several favorites.

I can vouch for Wp. I invited her. Hullloooo Wp. There are some other portuguese residents on here (currently having a brief memory blank with names). For any one who has seen my intro thread, Wp was a very strong support mechanism for me when I was kicking cancer's bottom. She's cool in my books.

Took me a day or so to navigatebut it's pretty smooth now. Just need to figure out how to post photos and other fun stuff.

I'm always happy to talk or help. You can post at me;) (that sounded funny:p) or PM me.

There's lots TV show fans here. Unfortunately I don't have TV, so I only know really old TV shows like from the 60s-70s-80s. You don't happen to like Love Boat do you?.....Probably not, not many do, but I love the ship at sea part of it.

Well you're doing better than I did. I swear it took me 1/2 a year to figure out how to post pics. Hint there's several ways to do it.

BTW, this is called a multi post. See how I quoted both of you two? You do that by going to the posts that you want to multi quote and clicking the gear shaped icon on the right top side of the post...then click Multi Quote, then when you've done as many post as you would like to quote, click Post Now (don't click Advanced Post, that won't work for a multi post.)

Re: To all the IMDB refugees...

Citizen Rules is very helpful, Wp. I have not seen a single snarky poster on here. I've had lots of fun the last few days. As you know I welcome agie bargies and different PoVs and certainly dont mind a rumble in the sand pit but I have not seen anyone call people infantile names for liking/not liking a film or actor/director etc.

Haha, yes I remember Love Boat. My kids used to love it but it was kind of cheesy, lol! I love cruises too and have been on four so far.

How can you not have TV :o

BTW, I think I uploaded a picture for an Avatar but it doesn't seem to be showing up. I'll have to recheck that out.

Lol MonnoM. I think I decided on an avatar based on the silly koala photo posted above. I just need to know how to do it. would you believe I'm a director of a high tech project management company and I have no freaking idea how to do this stuff. I know, right! Luckily I just deal with admin.

I just pay for people to Work for me so I can stuff around on film boards, travel boards and foodie sites. They're happy I let them use social media as long as I pay them and I'm happy for them to play on the net when times at work are slow. Win Win, as long as they dont use kiddy porn sites or freak people out with graphic animal cruelty stuff. Bit of givr and take. I'm sorta too chilled these days to care as long as 1. I dont have to learn stuff that makes my brain discombobulate, 2. staff are happy and 3. everyone just gets stuff done. All works at the end of the day. Party on.

Citizen Rules 02-05-17 08:44 PM

I see your avatar, nice one, it looks peaceful.

You've been on 4 cruises, very cool! Where did you go?

Dani8 02-05-17 08:49 PM

Re: To all the IMDB refugees...

I recommend Turkey or Galapagos for a tiny, intimate cruise, Rules. Two of the best trips I have ever had. Small boats - I think the berth in Turkey we took was about 20 and in Galapagos about 12. I've never been on a big liner.

I want to take another cruise, but money is they issue....though, I'm saving my spare change:p and we're looking for a cruise bargain to someplace warm! It's snowy here right now, brrr.
Let me see: three Costa Cruises - One from Venice to Greece (Santorini; Olympia and Rhodes) to Dubrovnik; one in the Gulf (my least favorite one - nothing but malls in the desert); and one from Copenhagen to the fjords of Norway. Last one was in Hawaii between various islands on Norwegian Line. That one was fabulous. I would like to do St. Petersburg next, I hear it's really beautiful.

Dani, almost everyone has stopped going to Turkey. Too dangerous now with all the terrorism. We were planning on hiring a small boat for about 10 people for two weeks in the summer but no one wants to go now - they all feel it's too risky. Bummer that, I'd have loved to go.

I went to turkey just after 9/11, wp. Wasn't a problem. I have a friend there who runs a travel agency. They shut down the turkey agenda when things first lit up recently but now back on board. I would go back tomorrow if I could. Great people. No more dangerous than anywhere else in the world.

Ohh, I'd love to go to Istanbul and the Galapagos too, that would be awesome but to expensive for me. So for now I have to see it on nature shows!

That's as may be Dani but fact is, not many people in Europe are going anywhere near the ME or Northern Africa. Turkey is off limits and everyone I know who used to go there regularly, doesn't any more. There have been too many terrorist attacks in Turkey proper lately. People don't feel it is safe.

Very xy for us as well, Cit. I cant remember what galapagos cruise cost us but it was worth it. Turkey was cheap. Just the airfare was xy. The cruise on the galut itself was very inexpensive and oh my god, the water is amazing. And the people are just fantastic.

Let's be cautious, and open our hearts to them only it feels right.

Pfft, why target that when you can complain about how The Dark Knight is still at #4 after almost a decade?

Re: To all the IMDB refugees...

I mean, I take the absolute newest films having super-high ratings with a grain of salt because I figure they'll drop off over time. Deadpool peaked at #42 when it came out a year ago but isn't on the list anymore. An especially egregious example of this was Birdman being around the 80-100 mark prior to the 2015 Oscars and it effectively got downvoted off the list a week after it had won Best Picture. It becomes interesting to note exactly which brand-new films manage to fortify their high-up positions and maintain them for at least a couple of years (such as Interstellar and Whiplash, which are still in the top 50 for some reason).

It's not surprising. Between IMDb's filmbro tendencies and Deadpool already having such a huge fandom, it makes sense that the first reactions would come from the hardcore fans and give it up a push up the list. It's sort of the same thing that happened with Serenity.

Well, I'll tell you, I wasted about a half hour trying to make a custom avatar, but every time I loaded it, the software said "upload failed." It wasn't until I tried twenty times with different size avatars and gifs that I realized they were actually uploading, only the software was giving me an erroneous warning!

Two, maybe three of them! I like to think I was instrumental in that. :D

I valiantly ignored the BBC's no advertising policy to offer alternative accommodation to the waifs and strays.

Valiantly.
