Please make sure to go into your User CP, upload an avatar, upload a profile banner, fill in your signature, make a custom user title, make a top ten, and maybe fill in some personal info in your profile. Also be sure to click on the "Lists" section in the upper right (in the black bar, underlined in green) and check off the movies you've seen from the various lists there.

We've got a great community here and I hope you'll all stick around and become part of it. We've got a lot of activities, too, including forum wide lists, Hall of Fame, and tournaments. You're too late to vote in the Top 100 Sci-Fi Countdown that will be starting soon, but feel free to post and follow along when the countdown begins. We'll be doing a Top 100 Movies of the 1940s after that, which you can vote in. If you have any questions or concerns, our admin Yoda and our mods (like Sedai, who posted earlier) are all very friendly and helpful.

Check out the lists sections as well, one of the big things on MoFo is lists :)
There's also a pretty solid quizzes section too (top right) ;)


Search function is helpful as to keep from repeat threads, there are 16 years worth of threads around MoFo, so the bets are what you're after discussing has already been started somewhere :D


If anyone is stuck for avatars or in particular for profile banners, there's threads on those as well knocking about where people have been showcasing their creativity and ideas and posting up interesting pictures that took their fancy, so there should be something in there that can help out in the interim too.

It is, sadly. They're shutting down IMDB on Feb. 20 and I found this board today. Apparently, others did as well. The only people I personally recommended this site to are all good posters.

In fact--I hope you guys DO have tighter moderation here. The moderation on IMDB is practically non-existent.

I enjoy the atmosphere around here and I can assure you and others here that I'm just looking for a new board home. :)

It's more that this thread is the most depressing thing on this site ever. On a site that featured CinemaAficionado.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that section. I mainly just set this thread up as a way for the IMDB regs to touch base before we move on to other topics. Nice to meet you! :)

Tbh the Mods on here can be very strict when people cause trouble.
MoFo is a privately owned forum, bought and paid for by Yoda and run by what are basically friends and colleagues.


All that can be asked is keep it PG-13, and not to spam or troll.
Repeat threads are frowned upon as well to keep the forum tidy.

Sorry, turd, but I had NOTHING to do with it. The CEO thinks it's not profitable enough to keep the boards up.

So most likely they'll come back within a month when Needham realizes IMDB is plummeting without them. Then this far less enjoyable board can be abandoned.

C'mon. The joy of the IMDB board was that it wasn't controlled by dictator mods like Comicbookfans is (and to an extent IGN).

If Marvelturds like dteam6, OdumC, and WeWonTheWar couldn't handle what I say then they could simpy ignore it. But nope. IMDB thinks we have to live in a politically correct SJW environment 24/7.

As I've said above, Movie Forums is a place for discussion and fun. An online community.
If someone is after a place to simply insult other users and fight, then they're better off elsewhere than on MoFo.
Trolls don't last long on here... which is why there's such a strong community of movie lovers on this site rather than the bilge you'd find on a non-moderated site.

IMDB was far more movie-passionate than any other website. The trolls were merely a byproduct.

But like I said, these replacements might not last long if IMDB realizes they made a huge mistake. They already did twice when they wanted to disable emoticons and ratings.

This used to be a fun forum until everyone started watching 1,000 movies a month (and they don't really want to) just so they could vote on which one was the best they all had seen. I hope you guys like foreign films and kissing ass to people who don't deserve it.

I'm not sure what prompted this quick little exodus-from-the-exodus, but I assure you, any hostility you think you see in this thread is just people kidding around. This is a pretty friendly place by most standards, particularly the standards of Internet forums, though I suppose I can see why you would take the jokes literally, given how these things usually go.

We have the actual Siperman running around here somewhere too. Welcome to all you former IMDB board users. This really is a great place to talk movies and get to know some cool people on top of it. I was here a couple of months before it really started to click for me. I suggest getting involved in some games and tournaments. That's where a whole bunch of regulars ended up hanging and talking the most. It's the best way to get to know people here from my experience. Hope a bunch of you stick around.

Welcome all new forum members. Please take a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the rules, read some threads, chat a bit with various people, only then deciding if this place is right for you. I've been here for many years, and IMO, this is one of the best places to hang out on the web. Some of my favorite things to do are to participate in the movie tab, which is a series of mini-reviews and random thoughts on recently seen films; reading director appreciation threads, usually authored by Holden Pike, reading the review threads populated by many of the sites reviewers, and participating in the music, video game, and fantasy sports threads when I am looking to get away from films for a bit.
