Re: Favourite Screen Villains
Gene Hackman was awesome, but he could play a more sinister Luther great too.

None. Truly the only thing that has come close to what Doctor Doom is like in the well written comic books is Darth Vader. I wish it were different, hes my favorite comic villain.

Re: Favourite Screen Villains
Here's a few from me.
Hans Gruber (Die Hard) Darth Vader (Star Wars) Magneto (X-men) Alec Trevelyan (Goldeneye) Donald "Red" Grant (From Russia With Love) If we could stray into animated films, Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty, not the Angelina Jolie version) El Indio (For a Few Dollars More) Magua (Last of the Mohicans) As far as preferences for Dr. Doom, I have none; neither was particularly good. |

As far as Buffalo Bill goes, I'd like to mention Dr. Hannibal "the Cannibal" Lecter as played by Anthony Hopkins in the same movie.

A few more:
Frank (Once Upon a Time In the West) Captain Dudley Smith (L.A. Confidential) The Xenomorph (Alien) Bane (The Dark Knight Rises) Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights) |
Re: Favourite Screen Villains
Actually if they ever nailed the Doctor Doom character correctly, he'd be one of the greatest screen villains of all time, no exaggeration, and Ill tell you why.
Doctor Doom goes beyond megalomania, but whats the absurdity is he can back it up. He has a peronality that is incredibly charasmatic and magnetic. Leads a country so acts presidential. Knows the dark arts of magic, and the highest levels of technology. Went into hell itself and took his Mom from the Devil then left. Now which Dr Doom in film comes close to that? :) |
Re: Favourite Screen Villains
Neither.

Hackman was great, another one would obviously be Heath Ledger's Joker and I also like
WARNING: "Unbreakable Spoiler" spoilers below
Samuel L. Jackson as the villain in Unbreakable.

This is one many won't expect, and I guess he'd be classified as comedic... and he didn't start out as a villain, but eventually became one ...

Who's Baguul?
|
I'd like to mention the psychotic rapist Max Cady as played by both Robert Mitchum and Robert De Niro in their respective versions of Cape Fear. Both simply reek of evil while onscreen. I'm surprised no one's mentioned him yet.

More recently on a TV-Show...
Kingpin aka Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'onofrio) - Daredevil (TV-Show) http://media2.fdncms.com/orlando/ima...89/kingpin.jpg He is truly great and awesome portrayal of Kingpin in my opinion. |

He's been played by many on film, but the one from the movie I like best was Chuck Heston as...
Cardinal Richelieu (the villain to) - The Three Musketeers (1973) http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/w780/gFnEF...vZv5yWf9hU.jpg Side note: in real life, Richelieu may not have been as sinister a figure as he played in Dumas' novels as he left a legacy of many good works and positive changes behind him. |

Warden Norton (Bob Gunton) - The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/...20130412003704 We're still wondering how he could be so obtuse? |
Re: Favourite Screen Villains
Regarding Shawshank, it was the leader of the bull queers that scared the hell out of me.
Im hearing good things about this Daredevil series, and D'onofrio is a great actor, Im sure his Kingpin is pure money. TONGO gotta see it. :yup: |
Re: Favourite Screen Villains
David Tennant's Kilgrave (Jessica Jones) is probably one of the nastiest villains I've ever seen.

TONGO gotta see it. :yup: We could say Captain Hadley was a villain also (he beat the fat guy to death, almost threw Andy off the roof and shot Tommy on Norton's orders), but he won a small place in our hearts after he put Bogs (the leader of the bull queers) in a wheelchair! |
