Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
This was a tough list for me to compile, but I believe the following list of pop/rock bands represents my all-time Top 50 Bands. I will list them in separate posts starting at number 50 and counting down to 1. Here goes... 50. BON JOVI http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/or...54ebdf3fb6.jpg Yes, I know, they're not necessarily the "bad boys" of rock, but they sure have some really infectious songs that span 30+ years. My favorite songs: Runaway Livin' On A Prayer You Give Love A Bad Name Bad Medicine Keep The Faith In These Arms Something For The Pain Lie To Me Wanted Dead Or Alive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRvCvsRp5ho My favorite album: Keep The Faith http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vJww-lUzbm...+The+Faith.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 40 Bands
Loved Bon Jovi back in the day. Slippery When Wet was a great album and I still love Blaze Of Glory.
|
49. HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS http://images2.alphacoders.com/199/199992.jpg Growing up in the 80's, there was no escaping the soulful sound and catchy tunes of Huey Lewis and his News. My favorite songs: Do You Believe In Love? If This Is It I Want A New Drug Heart And Soul The Power Of Love Bad Is Bad Walking On A Thin Line Stuck With You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J08ZwySCoJ8 My favorite album: Sports http://eastvalleyteam.com/wp-content...d-the-News.jpg |
48. COLDPLAY http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_i6FaeyxstR...ldplay1024.jpg I've been hooked on Coldplay's music ever since I heard Yellow in 2000. Chris Martin is one of the most gifted singer/songwriters of our time. My favorite songs: Yellow In My Place Clocks Speed Of Sound Paradise Fix You Shiver https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8XFFTWwSvY My favorite album: Parachutes http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-qA8kicKzQk...Parachutes.jpg |
I'll never admit to being a Jovi fan, but I probably listened to the cassingle of Blaze of Glory for an entire summer all day long. My sister had New Jersey and I remember how great that sounded sitting in my suicide seat in our Celebrity wagon.
Anyone talks sideways about the News, Robert Stack is putting you on tv. That's pure B2F. Really nice production value mojo. |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 40 Bands
A music list I can get on board with. Never been a Huey Lewis fan, but his music is very easy to listen too and sing along with. I like the group, especially the stuff from BTTF. Coldplay is great. If they had been around when I was in HS I would have had them on a loop. I just don't listen to music all that often. I have heard all their albums though, and think they are great.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 40 Bands
I quite like Cold play. Not exactly a big fan but I do feel they are one of the most unnecessarily over hated bands.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 40 Bands
Nothing that overly pops out at me yet but it's your list, not mine. I love the post design.
I also agree with Camo that Coldplay is unnecessarily over hated. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I never had a problem with them, and was always confused when people said they were terrible or something. |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 40 Bands
Thumbs up for Bon Jovi and Huey Lewis. Not my all-time favourites, but I do like a few songs/albums of theirs.
Coldplay are alright. I used to hate them, but I was swayed by "The Scientist". Great song. |
Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
|
Not a fan of Coldplay but I do like The News and Bon Jovi. I also like Lay Your hands on Me from the latter, and I'd say Heart and Soul is my favorite from The News.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 40 Bands
Awesome list Mojo!
I'll listen to Bon Jovi any day and way back in the day I remember listening to Huey Lewis and the News a lot! I even seen them in concert they opened for The Police on the Synchronicity tour. Huey and the boys really know how to perform live, they weren't rock stars, they were just a bunch of guys jammin out. Coldplay!, love their music, it's so poetic and deep. |
47. ROXETTE http://www.radiotopclasica.com/wp-co...oxette_322.jpg The sultry voice of Marie Fredriksson combined with the smashing guitar and song lyrics of Per Gessle made Swedish musical duo Roxette one of the best pop acts of the late 80's and early 90's. My favorite songs: The Look Dangerous How Do You Do? Spending My Time It Must Have Been Love Vulnerable Fading Like A Flower (Every Time You Leave) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fGLiIvKKys My favorite album: Don't Bore Us, Get To The Chorus http://e.nuestromercado.e3.pe/images...0_10_42_49.jpg |
46. GOO GOO DOLLS http://i.neoseeker.com/n/3/googoodolls.jpg To many, the Dolls are a punk rock band that sold out for more radio-friendly tunes and commercial success. To me, one of the best rock bands in the post-grunge 90's music scene. My favorite songs: Black Balloon Broadway Sympathy Stay With You Better Days Name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQOBUrRaPU0 My favorite album: Let Love In http://www.amiright.com/album-cover-...et-Love-In.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
I really don't know Roxette besides The Look. Goo Goo Dolls are from my hometown. I have always enjoyed them.

45. AIR SUPPLY http://resources2.news.com.au/images...3d4d841c99.jpg I credit my parents for this entry, and for that I am ever so grateful. The soft rock duo from Australia made some of the most beautiful power ballads in the late 70's and 80's. My favorite songs: Lost In Love Even The Nights Are Better Lonely Is The Night Making Love Out Of Nothing At All All Out Of Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWdZEumNRmI My favorite album: Greatest Hits http://fanart.tv/fanart/music/df9a19...e47a2aee75.jpg |
44. SOUNDGARDEN http://mewsicknow.files.wordpress.co...oundgarden.jpg Chris Cornell and company were arguably the best alternative rock band of the 90's. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and R.E.M. fans tend to disagree. My favorite songs: Spoonman Fell On Black Days Blow Up The Outside World Black Hole Sun Burden In My Hand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmIqIVxUuKs My favorite album: Superunknown http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4qcKlVfbOt...perunknown.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Soundgarden is great.
|
I love Air Supply. Many years ago, I was in the front row at one of their concerts, and Graham Russell dropped his guitar pick right in front of me. It's my favorite concert souvenir.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Roxette is another one that isn't a big favourite, but I know and love quite a few of their songs. Same with Air Supply, to a lesser extent.
Don't know anything of Goo Goo Dolls and Soundgarden outside of their big hits (Iris and Black Hole Sun). |

Have you ever heard him sing a cover of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean? Mindblowing! Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh3QCQ9lV80 |
43. SUPERTRAMP http://www.nolifewithoutmusic.com/wp...upertramp1.jpg I grew up listening to, and later appreciating, the infectious tunes and unique sound of Supertramp, thanks to my parents who, as it turns out, had an impressive taste in music. My favorite songs: Breakfast In America Dreamer Give A Little Bit Goodbye Stranger The Logical Song It's Raining Again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZUE4_PtOk0 My favorite album: The Very Best Of Supertramp http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Bp0Ybcg_dB...mp-Frontal.jpg |
42. ALICE IN CHAINS http://www.feelnumb.com/wp-content/u...ne-up-LSMS.jpg There was a time in music history, in the early to mid-90's, when a new rock movement known as Grunge took over the airwaves and charts, and in the forefront of the movement was Alice In Chains, led by the captivating vocals of Layne Staley, who sadly died in 2002. My favorite songs: Would? Rooster No Excuses Down In A Hole What The Hell Have I Man In The Box https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAqZb52sgpU My favorite album: Nothing Safe: Best Of The Box http://aliceinchainsbr.com.br/discog...thing_safe.jpg |

Great story gbgoodies! Can you share a picture of it? |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Alice in Chains is awesome. I recently bought Dirt. It's terrific.
|
Soundgarden was one of my favorites. Superunknown is a great album. I wasn't an Alice In Chains fan but I have always loved the song The Rooster.

Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Big fan of Alice In Chains here.:)
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
the only one I dislike so far is Coldplay!!
Keep 'em coming |
I'm not too familiar with the Go Go Dolls but thumbs up for Roxette, Air Supply, Supertramp, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden, the latter I saw many years ago-I think with Metallica.
|
41. SURVIVOR http://news.sagacom.com/wp-content/b...P-Survivor.jpg Survivor went through a few lead singers over 3 decades, but their best era was with Jimi Jamison, despite the fact that he did not sing the band's biggest and most successful hit, Eye Of The Tiger. My favorite songs: American Heartbeat Eye Of The Tiger I Can't Hold Back The Search Is Over Burning Heart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kc71KZG87X4 My favorite album: Ultimate Survivor http://www.popentertainment.com/survivorultimate.jpg |

I saw them in concert at Westbury Music Fair, which is a small, intimate, theater-in-the-round, and they were amazing. Jimi Jamison even invited a girl on stage to dance with him. (Well, she sort of jumped on stage, but he didn't have her taken off the stage by security, and he let her stay on stage for a while and he danced with her.) My favorite Survivor album is "Vital Signs". I love most of the songs that you listed, but you left out a few of my favorites. "Man Against the World", "Broken Promises", "The Moment of Truth", and "Oceans". |
40. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopo...d-stp1-jpg.jpg Stone Temple Pilots (or STP for short), under the lead of frontman Scott Weiland, is another great rock band from the grunge era in the 90's to make my list. My favorite songs: Interstate Love Song Big Bang Baby Vasoline Wicked Garden Big Empty Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart Plush https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5UOC0C0x8Q My favorite album: Thank You https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5284/...93dc629e_z.jpg |

I can only imagine how awesome a Soundgarden concert would be. I would love to hear a song like Spoonman being played live. Speaking of Metallica, you need to stay tuned for the rest of my countdown ;) |

39. MATCHBOX TWENTY http://edenpop.com/wp-content/upload...matchbox20.jpg Yes, I know, they are probably the most hated band on the planet, lead singer Rob Thomas might come across as a tool, and their songs have been overplayed like hell, but I've been a loyal fan of MB20 ever since they emerged in 1997. My favorite songs: Push 3 a.m. If You're Gone Unwell How Far We've Come Back To Good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2X5Dr-uFVGw My favorite album: Yourself Or Someone Like You http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5B96Hw7Q9E...178270_1_f.jpg |
38. DURAN DURAN http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NxxbtnhmSm...ran+duran3.jpg One of the greatest British new wave pop/rock bands that conquered the 80's, and managed to stay relevant well into the 90's and beyond. I was a fan of Duran Duran from the time I was in grade school and all the way through my teens and adulthood. My favorite songs: Girls On Film Hungry Like The Wolf Save A Prayer Wild Boys A View To A Kill Come Undone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICnlyNUt_0o My favorite album: Rio http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73...b8b2d4d63f.jpg |

Duran Duran would be on my list too. Great band with great songs. This one would be my favourite:

Love Duran Duran! |

Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Well this list started fairly well, then went all to crap with STP (I knew they would be coming up the moment I saw AiC on your list. Couldn't stand either of them) but Duran Duran is a big plus in your favour.
I saw Soundgarden in concert when they were opening for GNR. They were OK. Certainly a lot better than Faith No More who followed them. |

37. AEROSMITH http://wfiles.brothersoft.com/a/aero...-1600x1200.jpg With a back catalog spanning 4 decades and counting, a legendary lead singer, who heavily resembles the vocal styling and facial features of Mick Jagger, in Steven Tyler, and a cool legendary guitarist in Joe Perry, it would be unacceptable for any list compiling the greatest rock bands to not include Aerosmith. My favorite songs: Back In The Saddle Walk This Way Dream On Janie's Got A Gun Angel Livin' On The Edge Crazy Falling In Love (Is So Hard On The Knees) Jaded Sweet Emotion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82cJgPXU-ik My favorite album: Get A Grip http://www.nuclearblast.de/static/ar.../1000x1000.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Missed your last few posts. STP, Matchbox 20, and Aerosmith were huge faves of mine in High School.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
I've only listened to Toys in the Attic, but that album was a favorite of mine in high school.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Oh wait, I've also listened to the debut album.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
+rep for Huey Lewis, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Matchbox 20 and Aerosmith.
Aerosmith and Soundgarden were favorites of my mom's so I heard them a lot growing up. AIC, STP and Matchbox 20 were favorites of mine in junior high and high school. Huey Lewis was the first artist I ever saw in concert. He put on a great show. |
I like Duran Duran, but you left out two of my favorite Duran Duran songs. ("Is There Something I Should Know?" and "The Reflex")
|

Both those songs are great. The list of favorite songs that I compile are just songs off the top of my head that I love for the artist, and not all of my favorites. I especially like Is There Something I Should Know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M0hogZyRyU |

MB20 came out when I was in college. Aerosmith were one of my favorites in high school, too. STP, on the other hand, I have recently explored more thoroughly and came to appreciate their music. I was not a fan of theirs at any time in the distant past. |
36. HALL & OATES http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/...n-1984-014.jpg Growing up in the 80's, there was no escaping the soulful music of Daryl Hall and John Oates. These guys were banging out one catchy tune after another, making awesome music videos, and, overall, were just a couple of cool guys. My favorite songs: Rich Girl She's Gone You Make My Dreams Kiss On My List Private Eyes One On One Say It Isn't So Out Of Touch Method Of Modern Love Maneater https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRYFKcMa_Ek My favorite album: H2O http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi..._Oates_H2O.jpg |
I was a big fan of Hall & Oates back in the '80's. In fact, I almost nominated their version of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling", (over the original version), in the current song tournament. I think John Oates has an amazing voice, and he should have done more of the vocals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXX5OtJJWDo |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
That's an incredible version. I agree Oates has a great voice. Deeper than Hall's for sure.
|
Aerosmith is a great, great band. I've seen them many times in concert, and they are phenomenal.
Hall and Oates are cool too:cool: |

Most of these bands I only really know the odd hits. I liked Push from Matchbox 20 when it came out. I didn't know they were a particularly hated band. |

Most of these bands I only really know the odd hits. I liked Push from Matchbox 20 when it came out. I didn't know they were a particularly hated band. As for MB20, they are usually dismissed as a band that makes sappy music, and Rob Thomas for going pop, especially with his solo work. Regardless of all that, I appreciate their long list of tunes. |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
Big fan of Aerosmith's Toxic Twins era.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
I just left a bunch of Reps! Excellent choices on all the bands listed so far. Any Seattle Grunge band is good with me:) Glad to see Duran Duran and Hall & Oates too.
|
35. THE WHO http://acervo.oglobo.globo.com/incom...eria/foto2.jpg The Who is probably the first band on my list so far that were huge before my time. As a college student, my taste in music expanded into classic rock. Out of all the bands that I explored and became a big fan of, what I admired most about The Who was their rebellious lyrics and "f%$#-all" attitude, along with Roger Daltrey's swagger at the mic and Pete Townsend's unique guitar playing and on-stage antics, not to mention Keith Moon, who is by far one of the greatest drummers in rock history. My favorite songs: My Generation Baba O'Riley Won't Get Fooled Again The Seeker Pinball Wizard See Me, Feel Me Who Are You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdLIerfXuZ4 My favorite album: Tommy http://theinspirationroom.com/daily/...-who-tommy.jpg |
34. THE CRANBERRIES http://wfiles.brothersoft.com/t/the-...-1600x1200.jpg The 90's were special times, particularly on the musical side. The alluring sound of Irish band The Cranberries' music that revolved around lyrics that were politically-charged or based on social narratives, led by an amazing songbird named Dolores O'Riordan -who, in my opinion, is one of the greatest female rock singers of all time -made the final decade of the millennium all the more beautiful and nostalgic. My favorite songs: Linger Dreams Zombie I Can't Be With You Ridiculous Thoughts Dreaming My Dreams Empty The Icicle Melts Twenty One When You're Gone Ode To My Family https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz-DJr1Qs54 My favorite album: No Need To Argue http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73...7812a2a6bf.jpg |

I have a history with that album. I have probably listened to the entire thing a thousand times. Every song on that album is a masterpiece, hence the long list of songs off the album that I included as my favorite songs :) This song, Ridiculous Thoughts, in particular, resonates with me for some reason. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LM4Cb6wZUA I also loved their MTV Unplugged session in the mid-90's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARuF8BFvjlY |

That's all I remember about The Cranberries. That's definitely one of their best songs, but there's more to them that that song. If you ever think of exploring band discographies, these guys are worth it |
33. CREEDANCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL http://www.revistafreim.com/wp-conte...r-Revival3.jpg The second band on my list so far that were huge before my time. American rock band Creedance Clearwater Revival's, or CCR as they are known to their fans, unique blend of blues and southern rock spiced with politically and socially-conscious lyrics, and the incredible vocals by John Fogerty, made them one of the most relevant bands of the Vietnam War/Hippy era in the late 60's and early 70's. My favorite songs: Fortunate Son Run Through The Jungle I Put A Spell On You Susie Q Down On The Corner Lookin' Out My Back Door Who'll Stop The Rain Have You Ever Seen The Rain https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iENoTQGx4g My favorite album: Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/.../Creedence.jpg |
32. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS http://rockstarwallpapers10.net/wp-c...-peppers-1.jpg Since the 90's, the Chili Peppers, or RHCP as they are commonly referred to, have been making classic hits. Their most frequent band members have all made names for themselves. Anthony Kiedis is an amazing singer. John Frusciante, in my humble opinion, is one of the best guitarists in history. Flea is not only an animated bass player, but a talented actor (he had a minor role in the Back To The Future films). Chad Smith (the guy who people often mistake for comedian Will Ferrell) is possibly one of the greatest drummers who ever lived. Personally, I really started to appreciate them in 2000 when I heard the album Californication, and was impressed with their 2006 outing Stadium Arcadium. They are, by all means, one of America's greatest rock bands. My favorite songs: Give It Away Under The Bridge My Friends Otherside Californication Snow (Hey Oh) Make You Feel Better Hard To Concentrate Scar Tissue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzJj5-lubeM My favorite album: Stadium Arcadium http://cdn-images.9cloud.us/479/red_...1141194315.jpg |
31. REO SPEEDWAGON http://images.sodahead.com/profiles/...O%20Speedwagon REO Speedwagon was the first rock band that I remember becoming a fan of in the early 80's, thanks to my parents. These guys wrote some of the best and most uplifting power ballads that have stood the test of time. My favorite songs: Roll With The Changes Time For Me To Fly Don't Let Him Go Take It On The Run Can't Fight This Feeling Keep On Loving You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJzNZ1c5C9c My favorite album: Hi Infidelity http://theseconddisc.files.wordpress...nfidelity.jpeg |
The Who and CCR would be top 10 for me, Speedwagon top 30, and The Peppers top 40. I don't know a lot from The Cranberries, but I absolutely love Zombie.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
CCR and Chili Peppers are both fantastic and two bands that I still love to listen to from time to time. Blood Sugar Sex Magic couldn't have been more popular in my school.
|
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
God, I used to love CCR but they are so overplayed pretty much everywhere that I am permanently burnt out on them unfortunately. I loved them growing up though. I used to call them creek music.

METALLICA http://images4.fanpop.com/image/phot...2-1250-870.jpg If you were to compile lists for greatest vocalists, guitarists, bassists, and drummers, you're bound to find each member of metal/rock band Metallica on them. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and past members Jason Newsted, Dave Mustaine, and Cliff Burton are legendary in their own right. I honestly didn't become a fan of Metallica until 1991, the time where Newsted was on bass, when I was introduced to the "Black Album". I understand that their earlier work from the 80's is, according to their loyal fans, more hardcore, and that after their massive commercial success in 1991, Metallica became more alternative rock than a heavy metal band. Regardless of all that, they remain to be one of the greatest American rock bands in history. My favorite songs: Fade To Black One Enter Sandman Nothing Else Matters Wherever I May Roam Until It Sleeps Hero Of The Day No Leaf Clover The Day That Never Comes The Unforgiven https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ckom3gf57Yw My favorite album: Metallica (a.k.a. The Black Album) http://images.gibson.com.s3.amazonaw...lack-Album.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
I'm not a Metallica fan, but the Black album is truly brilliant.

I only care for their first three albums, but man are those good ones.

I honestly never got into their first albums, and by that I mean Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning. Although I do like a few songs off those albums. |
29. TOTO http://30daysout.files.wordpress.com...early-days.jpg I grew up listening to Toto. The songs Africa and Rosanna were some of my parents' favorite songs. As I grew older and began exploring music, I discovered the greatness of one of America's best rock bands, due to it consisting of master musicians such as Steve Lukather, Steve Porcaro, David Paich (all of whom would eventually collaborate with Michael Jackson on the Thriller album), Jeff Porcaro, and Bobby Kimball. My favorite songs: Hold The Line I'll Supply The Love Georgy Porgy Rosanna I'll Be Over You Africa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTQbiNvZqaY My favorite album: Past To Present 1977 - 1990 http://img.abrakaba.com/002492F7-0/T...-1977-1990.jpg |

hahahah sleep deprivation jokes. I was hoping nobody would comment before I edited the last post. R.E.M. is ranked much higher on my list. Toto is at Number 29 |

No worries, buddy! I'm the one who should be saying oops :) |
28. HEART http://cdn0.lostateminor.com/wp-cont...rt-650x425.jpg Heart rocked the world in the mid to late 70's, peaked in the 80's, and managed to stay relevant throughout the early 90's before fading into obscurity after the rise of Grunge. For 3 decades, the band, led by rocker sisters Ann Wilson, in my opinion one of the greatest female vocalists in music history, and Nancy Wilson, the sexiest and most electrifying female guitar player ever, delivered a string of infectious rock classics. My favorite songs: Crazy On You Barracuda Magic Man What About Love? These Dreams Never All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You Alone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Cw1ng75KP0 My favorite album: The Essential Heart http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QiAxDTMhm8...tial-Heart.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
I use to be a HUGE Heart fan back in the late 70s early 80s. I seen 3 times in concert. I use to call the record store daily when they were about to realize an album and ask if the store had it yet.

27. DEF LEPPARD http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/73...03b52cc3ed.jpg British heavy metal band Def Leppard were one of the best-selling rock acts of the 80's and 90's worldwide, and deservedly so. They managed to write and perform some of the most exciting stadium rock songs that are still very popular today. My favorite songs: Bringin' On The Heartbreak Photograph Rock Of Ages Animal Pour Some Sugar On Me Hysteria Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad Two Steps Behind When Love And Hate Collide Let's Get Rocked https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aqNFJs_OS0 My favorite album: Hysteria http://www.metalinsider.net/site/wp-...d-Hysteria.jpg |
26. SCORPIONS http://www.legacyrecordings.com/medi...789a39d569.jpg The first rock concert I ever attended was a Scorpions concert. Their songs are some of the best hard rock tunes in history. It's nearly impossible not to have at least one favorite tune by these cool German guys. My favorite songs: Rock You Like A Hurricane Still Loving You Holiday Wind Of Change Send Me An Angel Under The Same Sun You And I When You Came Into My Life Does Anyone Know Stone In My Shoe No One Like You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cc39bU4GZ0 My favorite album: Pure Instinct http://img.abrakaba.com/000029B2-0/S...e-Instinct.jpg |
Re: Mojo Filter's Top 50 Bands
I'm actually listening to the Scorpions as I read your post, great band with some killer songs.
I'm a big fan of '80's arena rock, and Def Leppard rule that roost for me. Top five for me, but I'm glad to see them on your list as well. |
25. FOREIGNER http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ywSN1wqMZK...GNER+foto.jpeg Foreigner is by far one of the coolest rock bands that, in the 70's and 80's, released some of the greatest songs in rock history. My favorite songs: Cold As Ice Hot Blooded Double Vision Urgent Juke Box Hero Waiting For A Girl Like You I Want To Know What Love Is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loWXMtjUZWM My favorite album: No End in Sight: The Very Best of Foreigner http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-kbgaYOH-hD...igner+2008.jpg |
FOREIGNER!!! :D

Must resist the urge to grab the nearest hairbrush and start singing "I want to know what love is..."
|
Too bad you haven't reached no1 yet, or not even close, I can't wait. :) Although I hope it's pretty obvious what's no1. ;)
I like many of those, though, but I know next to nothing about music from 90s or later. I'll just post some songs I like from Metallica, Huey Lewis, Bon Jovi etc Can I do that? |

I guess you'll have to hold the suspense until I reach number 1 :D I like your avatar by the way. I've had the Lennon avatar since I joined MoFo, so I believe you owe me some sort of credit  Please do share your favorite songs...and welcome to the boards! |

I have the tendency to do the same thing, only I don't use a hairbrush, I just air mic it :D |
