Max Payne
now i am not usally one for video game to movie productions (mainly coz of Hitman and Resident Evil) but for some reason i think that this could be a good adaption. The actor choosen to play Max is Mark Wahlberg and has a excellent resemblance to the character. The movie is still in its early development and is set to be realeased in 2010 but looks promising because it appears to follow the game's plot. I bet the 'bullet time' will look very good, hopefully as stunning as the 'Matrix'
here's the IMDB link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0467197/ |
Re: Max Payne
I really don't see Whalberg playing Payne - I've always seen Brad Pitt as the one who could best play the role.

Call me crazy but Thomas Jane?

Re: Max Payne
A thread on IMDb said why not Michael C. Hall?
http://www.sho.com/site/dexter/seaso...ael_c_hall.gif I don't know, maybe... |
Re: Max Payne
I could see it.

I found this article recently, and I agree with it 110%.....

Re: Max Payne
As long as Uwe Boll doesn't direct i will be happy... seriously, he butchers every single video game to movie adaptation

Re: Max Payne
I think that Dungeon King sh*t was his last U.S. film anyways.

Re: Max Payne
I'd rather get a new Max Payne game because of the bad track record for game to movie adaptions but if done correctly it could be very good. Max Payne always had great characters and story line to go with its great game play.

Re: Max Payne
Hey guys
An independant british film company are currently making a movie of Max Payne set between games 1 & 2 [it's sort of low budget...but check it out!] http://www.payneandredemption.com/bl...=teasertrailer |

but anyways they have to do it exactly like in the game with the voice over and the dramatic music. For God sake this game has the best story line and script ever for a game that is.That's why it's one of my favorite games |
Re: Max Payne
Mark Walhberg is currently in HAMILTON (yay for my hometown) filming scenes for MAX PAYNE

Re: Max Payne
I always thought M. Madsen would be a good Payne.
|
Re: Max Payne
So the first pics or Wahlberg as 'Payne' have emerged here:
http://www.worstpreviews.com/headlin...d=7867&count=0 Being a fan of the games and hoping that maybe this adaption will stick close to the orignal plot, i pray that these pics are of 'Payne' before his crisis. Because Wahlberg isn't looking very 'bad'as 'Payne' |

Re: Max Payne
Just from the trailer I can already see this is the best video game movie ever. Although that dosen't qualify it as a good movie yet ...

Re: Max Payne
You love to judge movies as a whole based on a trailer eh?
|
Re: Max Payne
I loved these games. Thanks for the link, meatster.

Re: Max Payne
So the movie is based on a video game?
|
Re: Max Payne
Max Payne may be OK, but how can he compete with Max Headroom?

Mark Wahlberg
|
Re: Max Payne
Mark Wahlberg : That's enough to make me not want to watch this movie. Seriously, I hate this guy. I dont really have a reason, hes acting is ok, he's done decent projects, but I just wanna punch his stupid face every time I see him. Sucks, because I was a fan of the game. D:

Re: Max Payne
Can someone correct me...I do not remember any ANGELS from the first game.
|
Re: Max Payne
i think it takes place between the first and second game or is a combo of the two i don't remember. i never got around to play the sequel and i don't remember angles either...but its been awhile.
|
Re: Max Payne
I remember the second game having lots of surreal moments.

No actually it's based on the first game as you can see that there is the character of Nicole Horne As for the angels a friend of mines theory is that they are hallucination caused by the drugs, which kind of makes sense as for my theory I think they are still imaginary but they are something like angels of death and show up when somebody is about to die just like the last guy in the trailer |
Re: Max Payne
yeah i do remember there being dream sequences and such, i should really play the game, tis kick ass..
|
Re: Max Payne
NO angels in any game and ive played them all theres a couple of references to hell so maybe they are fallen angels, but dont get your hopes up as im sure you all know the track record for game to film conversions not to mention mr mark [wooden actor]wahlbergs involvement
|
Re: Max Payne
The nightmare sequence in the game when you have to follow the orange/red line and you hear the baby crying....creepy. Still don't remember Angels, but hey, it could work.
|
Re: Max Payne
Could be a visual representation of Valkyrie (the drug in the game) or the fallen angels that have been mentioned before.
For those who don't remember the fallen angels, the addicts, including the 'boss' for act I (in club Ragnarok), ramble on about the 'flesh of fallen angels' all the time. Could be that they have mixed those with the nightmare sequences. If not, I do wonder what they will do with the nightmare sequences, sure hope they keep them in and making them as disturbing as they were in the game (without the balancing on thin lines ofcourse :P). It's probably that, or they are really going to mess it up. I can see Mark Wahlberg playing Max, although there are probably actors who would suit the role better. |
Re: Max Payne
Yeah wahlberg a man of few facial emotions what i would call ableak actor so i suppose could be good for the part cant recall how many times i've been disapointed with casting then been pleasantly surprised
|
Re: Max Payne
Comic-con vid interview of Mark Wahlberg: http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?mkt=...c-b5a375a51626
he TOTALLY talks about how he's sorry he missed being a nerd as he could have avoided jail and had an education to fall back on. Very interesting! |
Re: Max Payne
I Never Played The Game But I Love Revenge Movies And With Mark Whalberg I Know I'll Be Seeing This.
|
Re: Max Payne
Ive played the game and loved it and this is hopefully going to be just as awsome. IMO the whole game-movie franchise im loving since the Resi movies came out and its just getting better and better!

Re: Max Payne
The Max Payne games are fantastic. They're true art. But I do have some serious doubts about this flick. I think Wahlberg is a good choice for Payne, but Ludacris and Mila Kunis are horrible miscasts. I guess I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, though, because the trailer does look halfway decent. I'll definitely be seeing it but, yeah, I've got my doubts.
|
Re: Max Payne

Re: Max Payne
I super looking forward to seeing this movie! I was introduced to the video game ( the 2nd game ) and I must say...for someone like myself who hasnt really played computer game much I SO LOVED IT! The game for me was super amazing...guns....blood.....missions....the whole 9 yards loved it! For me the movie will be fun to see since it's new to me!
Just my thoughts! |
Re: Max Payne
They couldn't get Tim McCaffrey to play Max?
(let's see who gets it) |

Looks alright. Rental...
|
Re: Max Payne
Saw it today. It was pretty horrible. Butchered the story, hardly gave anything to the fans of the games*, very little action for something called Max Payne. Very disappointing
*
WARNING: "Stuff that wasn't there but should have been" spoilers below
- When Max wakes up and immediately leaves the hospital, you'd expect him to grab along some painkillers, right? - The mafia. I understand that they don't put in all of the working up the foodchain part, but the mafia adds so much flavour to the story - ALL the funny stuff: the tv-series (lords and ladies!), overheared conversations, self-reference... - No Vladimir !? and then some |
Re: Max Payne
Is this worth of watching?
|
Re: Max Payne
can anyone answer me what s wrong with this movie? i find it a bit muddled because it doesn t quite catch the feeling that the game gave me, it is just a sublime game to play
|
Re: Max Payne
Probably that it tries to be an Underworld movie. Note to all filmmakers: never try to make an Underworld movie.
