You know what would be shocking and thread-worthy? If a piece of crap like One Missed Call didn't suck ass. For you to bother to type it up, in its own thread no less, is like coming in all a flutter to announce that water is wet.

We'll just bury this in the "DUH" file.

I really enjoyed the Asian version of it. I didn't bother to see the American one though. I could tell by the previews that it was going to be ruined. I'm slightly concerned about The Eye, but it looks like it was more faithful to the original.

Said the person typing in all lowercase, I presume because you're going one-handed on the keyboard and one-handed...elsewhere.

It was really great getting to know you. I'll miss you so.

Re: tHE suck factor of ONE MISSED CALL

The back of the DVD of The Eye says:

"After 18 years of Blindness, 20 year old Mun's eyesight is restored following a corneal transplant. Immediately, mysterious black-clad figures in Mun's field of vision seem to foreshadow sudden deaths, and disfigure spirits haunt her daily. Mun slowly learns that she has inherited her donor's particular fate- the ability to see in to future and the terror that comes with it."

I'm no good at explaining things, so I thought I'd just put that up. I'm a fan of Asian style horror flicks. If anyone knows of other good ones I would appreciate hearing about hem by the way.

The Asian version is great. I am afraid this Hollywood remake's going to suck.

I've seen the originals of both films (The eye and One missed call) and neither was particularly great or original, although at least The eye managed to scare me a few times...:\

I've never seen One Missed Call and never will… but the title of this thread made it a little hard to determine what it was even about at first… and your posts are over shadowed by your signature which is basically nothing but SPAM… and against forum policy so I would ask that you remove it.

ummmm no, The Ring involves a tape that if you watch you die in 7 days, One Missed Call involves them hearing their own deaths and dieing soon after.

I'd say it's pretty similar to The Ring- remake of Asian of ghost story centered around fear of contemporary technology.

Alot of the asian horror flicks are like that. The Ring, Pulse, One Missed Call.... It seems that Asians may be a little afraid of the technology they are creating :p

It's probably no surprise to those who know me that I DO want to see One Missed Call.

That fear of technology thing, though? Frankenstein did it best in the 30's. Hasn't ever been dethroned, imho.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not sure if these kinds of posters are creative or annoying.

Anybody know of earlier examples of this poster technique right offhand?

The One Missed Call poster I find literally too wierd, though the one for The Descent is actually more creative.

I'd agree with you there.

I probably won't see One Missed Call (depending on the Great Toose's review) but I did see The Descent. As a caver of 25 years be-bopping underneath the Kentucky/Indiana/Tennessee/Virginia surface, I was a bit put-off by the ignorance of the "cavers" who were painted as having some expertise in the sport while knocking several basic rules of caving from the beginning.

That compromised credibility factor colored my watching experience of that movie and might color my opinion here.:babbling:

I own The Descent on Blu-Ray and it's one of my faves. As for One Missed Call, skip it. No need to wait. It's a complete piece of sh*t! Seriously. ;) And that's my review LOL.

I know what you're saying there, but the central premise of this movie is that we believe they are real (mainly responsible) cavers. While movies do request that you suspend some judgment for art's sake (and I can do that), the case here is akin to an air-traffic controller being asked to manage a plane's space in the air without a real-time, aircraft location display.

I did manage to find some genuinely frightening moments in the film that were true-to-life regarding caving. Portions of the film also set realistically and the principals' movement through cave at times was real.

My father is a (somewhat) accomplished (semi) professional blues musician/guitarist who huffs when a certain guitar is portrayed in an era set in the movie when the actual guitar did not come out until years later. I guess I get the realism thing honestly.

You're both air traffic controllers? That is pretty freekin' sweet in my book.

I shall take your word for it!

*EDIT*
I will say that while The Descent may not have portrayed the cavers adequately, it did pretty nicely at depicting the cave itself, maybe even better than caves I've seen in other movies.

I meant to say "having been air traffic controllers". We're teachers now.

P.S. We both have experience controlling aircraft across the ocean, so no visual dispaly involved when we did it.

So did JFK jr's death seem strange to you? I've heard the conspiracy theory but don't know enough to dispute it.

Also, your sig could be read as The R.U.B.

The strange thing about the crash was that he was flying at night in IFR conditions but wasn't IFR-rated. That basically means he wasn't certified to fly by instruments only. My wife is IFR-rated.

As far as the other question goes, I've been known to give and take a few rubs in my day.

The women are supposed to be forming a skull. It is a copycat of a Dali piece of art called, appropriately, The Skull.

Yep. Never "misunderestimate" the power of a sucky movie I'spose. Or, better yet,
never discount the ability with which MoFo's have to trick out a nominal post.

There's got to be some kind of reality material there....."Pimp My Post" or something.....
