Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
but every time he looks at Frodo that one last time(but not really)
and whispers "Fly you fools!" it gets me here. Then the OST kicks in and everybody breaks down save stoic Aragorn. "Give them a moment for pity's sake!" -Boromir "By nightfall these hills will be swarming with orcs!" I do love that sequence. I really really do. It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling in my soul. It gives me a soul boner. |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
Well I thought it was fairly moving in the book, but I thought the film rather overdid the 'apparent death and resurrection' thing - Aragorn gets one, Frodo gets at least one...
|
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
Mai got a pretty good death in Live Free or Die Hard.

Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
The Wachowski brothers seem to have a thing for their characters spitting out lines and lines of monologue just moments before they die. The Wachowskis didn’t come up with this, but they’ve used it a lot lately, and it seems they don’t quite understand that you can't speak for 10 minutes if you've got steel bars coming out of you, or if you've been shot approximately 300 times.
If the director tries too hard to make me sad with someone's death, he's not going to succeed by having the character exclaim pages of larger-than-life monologue. Even if I liked the character up to that point, I feel like it would be best for the story and for my patience if the character would simply drop dead. He fought against oppressive and discriminatory government? That's cool, but I don't need to listen to your Shakespearean monologue. He fought to save the mankind? Sorry man, I respect that, but please die already. Keeping it simple is no longer an option for some movie makers. Maybe they should check out movies like The Departed to see that they don't need to be overly dramatic to be poignant. |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
1. sal mineo--tragic deja vu--in rebel without a cause

Wash in Serenity. I can't believe it took me so long to come up with it!
"I float like a leaf on the wind. Watch how I soar" I was gonna make it my signature but I couldn't find a picture of it. . . . . When Butch shoots JT in Pulp Fiction! Unexpected much? Hell yeah! Jason Statham in Crank deserves a nod just because his death lasts THE WHOLE FRICKIN' MOVIE! Why won't you DIE!?! Which brings me to Robin Swallows in Austin Powers 2:The Spy who Shagged me. Yeah Baby! |

Mr. Nice-Guy saves the ship and crew after the battle and... :( I never even saw that one coming. For me personally, one of the most disturbing movie deaths had to come as a kid when I saw the movie The Long Ships. http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/1...2c20theaj0.jpg The Mare of Steel horrified me to the point of nightmares... http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/115...ofsteelvb7.jpg "Picture a three-story playground slide, only with a razor sharp steel blade jutting up where the sliding surface should be. For overkill, there's a pad of steel spikes at the bottom. The victim is escorted to the top and forced to slide down on his stomach head-first." |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
In the solitude of my livingroom, I just watched the horrible movie, The Hostel 2. In this film there were the one of the most horrible death, when young woman actor cuts off her torturers genitals. Huh..

Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
My choice for the worst unbelievable movie death would have to encompass virtually everyone killed in Saving Pvt. Ryan--especially the officer's prolonged "don't waste this" demise. The one exception is the hand-to-hand knife fight with the downed American begging "no, no" and the German saying (in German) "sleep, sleep" as the knife blade slides in. Now that was authentic and disturbing.
The other cliché bad movie death is the Hollywood actress death scene in which she gets prettier and prettier as she succumbs to a lingering disease--as in Love Story and Camellia. Victims of lingering disease look like the aids victims in Philadelphia. |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
Are you familiar with the movie Turistas? That movie for me is creepy they take the humans inner organs to sell in hospitals and the death of their victims was really horrible.

Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
:)Alloh boyz, I am Legend is a great movie! Best build up to a death in a movie would have to be the character "Billy" played by Sonny Landham in the original Predator with Arnie!
What a build up....what a death... regards: machado |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
I actually think the death of the Godfather's daughter was one of the best.
|
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths

Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
Best Death Scenes
Braveheart Raiders of the Lost ark is amazing as far as death scenes Obiwan getting killed by Darth Vader Fatal Attraction when you think shes dead she gets up to attack him and then his wife shoots her. The guy who falls into the helicopter blades in The Last Boyscout. When Willem Dafoe dies in platoon . That is just tragic. |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
Willem DaFoe in "Platoon"
Richard Dreyfuss in "Always" (beautifully subtle) Paul Newman in "Cool Hand Luke" James Cosmo in "Braveheart" David Warner in "The Omen" Al Pacino in "Scarface" But the BEST one ever........ Janet Leigh in "Psycho" |
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
i'm never coming in this thread again! spoilers please!
|
Re: Best (Worst) Movie Deaths
The only death scene that I have ever had to look away from was in Saw IV, where the woman was having her scalp ripped off by her hair. I don't know why this bothered me so much, considering I'm completely bald and know that this could never happen to me.

(spoiler, duh)
The Human Centipede. Pretty sure getting blood poisoning after having your mouth surgically attached to someone else's anus is the absolute worst way to go. |
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST SPOILER BELOW!!!!
When Fonda finds out why he's just been killed at the moment of death. Most excellent karma, and milked perfectly by Sergio Leone. http://i853.photobucket.com/albums/a...icks/Frank.jpg |
And the award for worst special effects, but funniest death scene ever goes to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nzd0R_OeOc Oh yeah, you chuckled some ^^. |
Which reminds me of this.
