I dunno, I grew up watching the big "real" things on the screen and hearing the voice of Feldman was great. Cool teaser nonetheless though. |
its cool but its only a cartoon
i'm still hopin they will make a new live action TMNT soon |
Hero's on a half shell!!
Wow it's strange I was just talking to a friend about TMNT. I think it's great that they're coming out with a new movie.

That looks awesome!!!
This is how it should have been done all along... well, you know, if CG was prevalent in the late 1980s and early '90s. :) |
I used to have all the action figures and the video games but somehow am only a little excited about thie movie. Perhaps it's the fact that it's a cartoon but if done well it could be great. Thanks for the trailer Usualsuspects :)
|
I grew up with TMNT.
Yeah it looks cartoonish, but it still looks pretty interresting. |
It looks pretty good, but it's still not as gritty and brutal as the original graphic novel, which is the direction I was hoping they'd go in. Still, it's a step closer to that, from the looks of things, so I'm rather pleased anyway.
|
^ Yoda, just how brutal and graphic was the novel? You just spiked my interest, perhaps a trip to the library is in order. ;)
Even though I grew up watching the live action, the animation on this looks pretty good, I'm confident I'll go see this as long as they dont retard it into a kiddie hack. |

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot moving forward
Feb 15, 2012 It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything on the Platinum Dunes’ plannned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, but the project is still still alive at the studio, and is now moving forward on finding a director. Variety reports that Jonathan Liebesman is in talks to helm the project. Liebesman just recently came off of Battle: Los Angeles, and is currently making Wrath of the Titans for release on March 30th. Details on this new film are unknown at the moment, but will return the franchise to live-action rather than a CG animated film as the previous instalment. |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Yay, let's see how Bay kills another franchise I loves as a kid.
Michael Bay reveals how the new TMNT film will be different
Mar 18, 2012 Paramount Pictures had just recently revealed their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be set to be released on Christmas Day in 2013. However, many fans are wondering just how this reboot will be different from the rest. Well, Michael Bay spoke at 2012 Nickelodeon Upfront, and revealed what will most likely be an usettling twist for the Turtles. “When you see this movie, kids will believe one day that these turtles do exist, when we’re done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race, and they’re going to be tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable,” Bay said. |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Just been reading up on movieweb.com about Michael Bay turning TMNT into Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles.
There seems to be some controversy about the idea from what I saw with peoples' reactions. I agree with them too, Michael Bay is a complete 'tard. He destroyed Transformers, now he's getting his mitts on another beloved 80s/90s franchise. What's next? I know: Thundercats Vs He-Man. The Thundercats are actually a genetic experiment designed in a pact between Skeletor and Mum-Rah to take out He-Man. The Thundercats and He-Man realise what's happened and rather than fighting each other, they team up against Skeletor and Mum-Rah but manage to drag the Autobots into their fight. In an amazing twist of fate, they come across Robocop who empathises with the Autobots, who are after all robotic creatures like he is and olde Robo joins the fight too. In this series of unforseen events, Skeletor and Mum-Rah decide to reprogramme a Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 to take out Robocop. Hence a huge battle between all involved that sees loads of world landmarks getting destroyed and giant boats crashing into Mount Everest. Michael The Moron Bay. |

That movie is too good to have his name on it. |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I wonder what planet they come from.. & I am guessing Splinter is one of the Biker Mice from Mars.
I'll watch this if the turtles are evil aliens & Shredder is the good guy. |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser

This weekend, we reported on Michael Bay's quotes from Nickelodeon's Upfront about his company Platinum Dunes' upcoming live-action adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles .
He said: "When you see this movie, kids are going to believe, one day, that these turtles actually do exist when we are done with this movie. These turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be tough, edgy, funny and completely lovable." Naturally, fans weren't too happy to hear that the turtles were now going to be 'an alien race' and there was a lot of negative feedback. Michael Bay has now responded to the feedback on his official site with the following: "Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story. Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world." Paramount Pictures is planning a December 25, 2013 release date for the film. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
"a more complex back story" "building a richer world" what the hell they are changing the entire "back story" what is sad is that one of the original creators of the Ninja Turtles is helping him to this.
|
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
This doesn't sound quite crass enough. Next I hope Michael Bay finds his true calling in Geriatric Gangrene Jujitsu Gerbils or Pre-Teen Dirty-Gene Kung Fu Kangaroos. Or he could just turn to adapting Marvel and DC comics...

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I'm still looking forward to Michael Bay's He-Man Vs Thundercats,I mentioned above.

Death. To. Michael. Bay!!!
Ok that may be a bit OTT (notice the nice use of 'may' :D) but man is this guy pissing me off! He's taking one of the most beloved elements of my childhood (and something I still hold dear) and most likely getting ready to take a **** all over it! I loved the 80s cartoon, loved (and still do) the 3 live action films - the first still being at #20 on my top 100 list, collected most of the original comics, loved the 2003 animated series, loved the TMNT film and I'm currently collecting the new comic series. And I was very excited to hear about plans for a new film and then here comes Michael f'n Bay!!! What the **** does he even want with the Turtles? His films have more explosions in 5 minutes than have occured in the history of the Turtles. That's probably the only reason for the alien change, so he can have spaceships which blow up. Oh and just to top it off man does he come across as one arrogant, dismissive prick with those comments to the fans. |

And one of the Turtles (I'm guessing Michelangelo) will go slightly racist with some jive talk! :p And while people will say just don't watch it, what if you found out your mum or sister or whatever had appeared in a pornographic film. Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Lets be optimistic about it now, there's no stopping Michael Bay.
If there is ever a zombie outbreak, I am guessing it would start from the theaters screening a Michael Bay film. Maybe Michael Bay is indeed archangel Michael, serving as a divine entity foretelling our end... Ohhh Divine Michael Bay, we are not worthy... please tell us the means of our end.. Giant robots?... Green gas balls?... Asteroids??.. also tell us, which turtle will be played by Sheer La Bore. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
The only way to stop him is to write a very Michael Bay-ish script where a character named Michael Bay has to go back in time to kill another character named Michael Bay, and then get him to make the movie.
Then, while he's making that movie, somebody stabs him. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
That will lead to a causal loop, & might lead to more than one Michael Bay in existence.
Can the world handle more than one Michael Bay? & stab him you say?... you must be kidding, right?.. where are the explosions.. No buildings crumbling down?...No cars smashing into other cars?.. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
They stab him, and the wound explodes.

Then, while he's making that movie, somebody stabs him. I've got it! Ninja Turtles Vs Michael Bay. After the abysmal movie he is currently planning destroys the franchise when it's released, somebody in the year 2050 actually makes the turtles using genetic engineering, and sends them back to this year so they can smash his head in with a toilet seat. What happens though, is they take on the entire Hollywood movie business as well, which happens to be run by the devil, that wears a human looking mask to hide its devil face. Rather than being 'outed' by these turtle creatures, the devil decides to wage a war against the turtles and an entirely new set of circumstances ensue, causing an alternate reality and a brand new franchise for the turtles. |
Rumors for TMNT reboot are starting
Mar 19, 2012 The recent news (here) that Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot will change the origin wasn’t a happy one to fans. Some think the new origin takes everything away from the characters (even the brand name), but that could allow for never before seen villains (when it comes to a live-action film that is) to be come into play. Sources are now telling First Showing that such villain could be Krang, who comes from another dimension. IF this turns out to be true, then we could probably assume him to be linked to the Turtles’ new origin. However, it does bring the question of whether or not we’ll see The Shredder in the new film. Shredder is probably the most important character to the franchise other than the four turtles and Splinter. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I think Michael Bay is somewhat like Merlin.
Merlin used to live backwards in time, hence Bay's best films are Bad Boys & The Rock.. WTF! That means he gets worse now? |
He's the Benjamin Button of, like, quality.
I don't mind a no-Shredder movie--the quasi-decent 2007 movie () didn't feature him--in and of itself. I kind of like saving it for a sequel, ala The Joker and The Dark Knight. Though just like TDK, I seem to recall that TMNT did have a little nod at the end that he might be in the next one, even though it takes place after they've defeated him. But this feels like a slate-cleaning film. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Actually, the Shredder from the 80s movie wasn't all that great.
I'd love to see him done right onscreen. The 2007 movie was decent, it had a decent plot. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I thought Shredder was awesome in the original turtles movies. Ive seen the first two I still havent seen the third movie where theygo back in time :shifty:

You don't really want to either. It's about as exciting and enthralling as the live action TV series that was made that had the female turtle in it. |

Third one was the worst, but far better than the TV show with the female turtle. Now that Rodent has reminded me of it, I am sure Bay can do a far better job than that TV show.. |

The only good thing about the third is that Feldman is back voicing Donatello.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Peter Alan Laird co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shares his opinion on Micheal Bay's controversial decision to make the turtles aliens
Well Michael Bay said, "These turtles are from an alien race" he created a firestorm of controversy bigger than anything he has put on film, and that is say something. Over the past few days we've heard from many actors that have worked on TMNT, but not from one of the most important people, the creators. Peter Laird alongside Kevin Eastman, gave birth to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Peter has gone to his blog to weigh in on Bay's controversial comments.
I have had several requests from TMNT fans during this past week to comment on the idea of the Turtles being "reimagined" as aliens for the upcoming TMNT movie to be produced by Michael Bay. A few people -- who don't seem to understand that I am no longer in control of the property -- want me to stop this, somehow. Obviously, I can't do that, even if I wanted to. But I would actually encourage TMNT fans to swallow the "chill pill" Mr. Bay recently suggested they take, and wait and see what might come out of this seemingly ill-conceived plan. It's possible that with enough truly creative brainpower applied to this idea, it might actually work. I'm not saying it's probable, or even somewhat likely… but it IS possible. However, as I have pondered this further, I have realized that in one way it IS truly a genius notion. Let me explain…
Over the years, I have made no secret of my distaste for what I consider to be the weak, facile, creatively bankrupt idea which can be summed up like this:
"If FOUR Ninja Turtles are good, then FIVE (or more) Ninja Turtles MUST be better!" It was in large part this brain-dead notion that led to the creation of the execrable "Venus de Milo" character in the blessedly short-lived live action TV series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation". And I can't tell you how many times we got mail in the early years of the Turtles from people who thought it was simply an amazing idea to do a "fifth Turtle", and how many times those same people suggested that this fifth Turtle be named "Picasso". And many times, the brilliant idea to explain this extra Turtle was that, instead of there being just four pet shop turtles in that glass bowl in the origin story, there were really FIVE. Sigh. I'll admit -- I have played with the idea of more Turtles myself, a few times. There was the character of "Kirby", the "fifth Turtle" that Kevin Eastman and I came up with for one of the several movie ideas which never came to fruition. And I created the "Super Turtles" in Volume 4 of the TMNT comics published by Mirage… and they eventually appeared in one episode of the 4Kids animated TMNT TV series. But… … in both those instances, I was careful to make these Turtles not just MORE of the same, i.e. just extra TMNT. In both of the above cases, the extra Turtles were from other dimensions… and the Super Turtles, especially, were VERY different from the Ninja Turtles. I don't remember all the details of the work we did on that "Kirby the Fifth Turtle" thing, but I DO remember being adamant that if we were going to agree to the idea of a "fifth Turtle", it would have to be something other than the harebrained "there was an extra Turtle in the bowl, etc." idea. Is that too fine a line? Yeah, maybe… but to my way of thinking, anyway, it is a CLEAR line. Anyway, to get back to the "TMNT are aliens" thing -- the reason I say it could be a "genius" idea is that -- for the first time -- someone has come up with a way to have as many freakin' Turtles as they want. I mean, if the TMNT are actually members of an alien race, there could be a whole PLANET of them! Joy. -- PL UPDATE: I asked Peter if his comment, "I have realized that in one way it IS truly a genius notion" was sarcastic or genuine, he replied, "Both, actually." He also responded to another member that commented on his blog, with this message. "You know, I've been kind of impressed with the volume and intensity of fan reaction to this alien idea. It makes me wonder what the reaction would have been had the producer of the upcoming "Superman" movie announced that instead of Kal-El being an alien from the planet Krypton, they would be making him a mutant created on Earth by KryptoBioGenetics, Inc.. That's almost as wacky. |

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Creator Kevin Eastman Praises Michael Bay's Vision
Kevin Eastman - "Hey Guys, Sorry to have been away for so long--completely swamped with work--but it is some pretty exciting stuff. I had been invited to check out the TMNT film development by my friend Scott Mednick over the years, and a while back had a full look behind the curtian at what writers Appelbaum and Nemec, director Liebesman, and producer Bay are doing--and trust me--it IS AWESOME. I'm officially on board, and will share more as I'm allowed... thanks all!"
I am guessing this is what Bay meant by chill pill. |

Jonathan Liebesman On TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Reboot, Alien Race Comments, Motion Capture & More..
On The "Alien" Aspect Of The Reboot...
“Look, it’s so funny—if everyone was such a die-hard fan, they would know that the TCRI canisters where the ooze comes from. That is alien ooze. Now I’m not saying what Michael said is exactly what the movie is, because we’re sitting in a room now figuring everything out. So we don’t know, but we are like Michael said: we’re expanding it, and the expansion will be true to the mythology. I promise you: fans will love it.” On Working With Kevin Eastman... “Whatever mythology we’re building on or expanding is coming from that guy, Kevin Eastman’s head, who created the Turtles in the first place. And so everything will tie in with the mythology; fans will be extremely excited with what we’re coming up with. A lot of it is stuff he’s wanted to do for a long time, but just hasn’t had the opportunity because now we have the budget and things on this film to expand it in the right way. And so, I’m happy that everyone is extremely passionate, and they will not be disappointed. It’s all coming from the best possible place for this franchise.” On Whether Or Not The Turtles Will Be CGI'd... “All I’ll say is that I love how they did [The Rise of the Planet of the Apes]. That was exceptional.” On How Much Action Is In The Movie... “We’re definitely into the action, but for me what’s more important than that is that it’s a story about brotherhood and friendship and responsibility. Right now, I’m with the characters because those are what attracted me to the movie. They’re the best characters I’ll have had a chance to deal with.” The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot hits theaters December 25th, 2013. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
And so, I’m happy that everyone is extremely passionate, and they will not be disappointed. It’s all coming from the best possible place for this franchise.
Anyway, this guy makes it sound far decent than Bay or Kevin Eastman (the creator) did. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
If Bay is sticking with the alien storyline, I'm not seeing it. I don't care if one of the creators backs it. Bottom line is, Bay has already ruined my childhood with "Transformers" and I doubt he will do anything BUT ruin TMNT.
Bay deserves an ass-kicking, Casey Jones style :p |
Y'all are over-reacting. Eastman himself has done an alternate version TMNT comic series.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teena...IDW_Publishing)
The series completely re-imagines the origins of the Turtles, as well as other characters such as April O'Neill, Krang and Casey Jones. It has also introduced new characters, such as the mutated cat named Old Hob. Other prominent characters in TMNT fiction, such as The Shredder, are absent from the first story arc. Notably, the series, like the original Mirage version, initially gives all four Turtles red eye masks until issue 5.

From Killerfilm.com
TMNT reboot has a tentative title
Mar 26, 2012 The news that Bay would be taking away the “Mutant” aspect from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was a huge turtleshell (pun intended) to the fan community (here). Now, it seems they won’t be teenagers either. Bleeding Cool is hearing the tentatvie title for the upcoming reboot will be Ninja Turtles. Obviously fans are going to suspect the characters won’t be teenagers, but Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight didn’t have “Batman” in the title, and it didn’t take the title character away. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan [Liebesman] the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE’S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN.

May as well use this thread instead of starting a new one. The tentatively retitled film, now called simply Ninja Turtles, is set to start filming in April. Whether Michael Bay has kept the Alien origin is yet to be seen but it looks like the controversial on-off-on-off-on-off project may be, well, on again. |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Get this, this sounds really promising...
Peter Laird, Co-Creator of the Turtles Franchise: "I just finished reading the script. It reminds me of one of the reasons I am glad not to own the property anymore… because I don't have to tear what little hair I have left out while trying to fix junk like this."

 Wow the news just doesn't get any better on this film. I swear if Shia LaBeouf somehow gets cast as well I may just blow my brains out! So many better people they could have gotten for the role. My favourite would have been Emma Stone. And apparently Megan Fox beat out Anna Kendrick. After falling in love with her recently in Pitch Perfect she'd have been great I think, and can't believe they went with Fox over her |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
If true, Anna Kendrick had a lucky escape, sounds like it's going to be terrible.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Do we really know Fox is playing April though? I know that it is a fair guess but I haven't seen it confirmed. I'm not a huge Megan Fox hater but yeah this probably isn't the best casting decision. The only way they could have gone worse is if they had casted Kirsten Stewart.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I'm a big TMNT fan but hold no hope for this at all with all I've heard about it. I'll stick with the 1990 movie which still holds up as a fine adaptation.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Megan Fox had already been confirmed to have dyed her hair red for her role as April....

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I just read that Michael Bay said that the 'alien plot' is garbage. No truth to it. They are going with the 'goo origin'. :) That part at least makes me happy.

It looks both exciting and horrible at the same time.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Say what you will about how this might end up, but that poster is dope.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Really? I thought it was a fan made poster at first.

Oh and surely "From the Creators of the Transformers Trilogy" is the most terrifying tagline in movie history!!! :p |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
For me, I'm neither here or there about all of this, I'll go see Ninja Turtles, but I'm not really too excited just yet, I expect it to be entertaining, nonetheless.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Not sure about the new Shredder... Fichtner will do a good job no doubt, but the character has been rewritten to explain why a white guy is now in the role.
Shredder's real name is no longer Oroku Saki... he is now Erik Sacks  Bay apparently approached "every Japanese actor in the world" and apparently "every single one of them turned the role down" :suspicious: |

I was too young for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when it was first around, so its hard to get that excited but I will watch nonetheless and hope to be amazed. :D |
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
I wonder what Jonathan Liebesman and Michael Bay will make them look like...

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
These look pretty cool. I hope they go with something along these lines.
http://sizzlingnsassy.com/wp-content...y_nebezial.jpg Instead of something like this http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/wp-.../Raphael1.jpeg That one is supposed to be Raph. I really hope they go with the more stream lined that we are more used to. I understand them going towards the realism but I don't like it as well. |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Every time I'm reminded that Megan Fox was cast as April O'Neil, I just start bursting out with rage.
|
Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
The 1990 film was a serious version already. Sure there were some cartoony and zany elements but compared to the sequels and all of the cartons and comics since, the original film is a masterpiece.
Hopefully they go more toward the original graphic novels and comic from the 80s... but I doubt it with Michael Bay at the helm. |

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Teaser
Has anybody been watching the updated series on Nick, I've gotta baby brother and we watch it together when I head back home. It's worth a watch very funny in an all ages way with lots of little flourishes for genre nerds to have a laugh at.
