I was watching Vh1 last night and it was a show called 100 greatest videos of all time.It inspired me.I'll let you all go first but I get to say my very favorite one:
-Where it's at/Beck(well,any Beck video)

Yoda 09-26-01 01:26 PM

I think Michael Jackson's "Black or White" video is quite cool. I remember seeing it for the first time, and being downright amazed at the part where it "melds" from one type of person to the next. That was unheard of at the time. Other than that, I think N'Sync's "Pop" has got an amazing set. Very cool to look at.

Steve 09-26-01 01:49 PM

All of Bjork's videos! They are wicked. I also like all the Beastie Boys videos. And, who can hate Biggie's video for Hypnotize?

thmilin 09-26-01 02:14 PM

ALL Madonna videos!!!!

:-D

PigsnieLite 09-26-01 02:27 PM

My favorite madonna video is Madonna in leather whit the chihuawa. DAM, it was cute! The dog, I mean. :) I also thought Beautiful stranger was hysterical with her rubbin her butt on Austin Powers face.

sadesdrk 09-26-01 06:02 PM

I liked the Foo Fighter's video for Learin' to Fly.They are so funny.Has anyone seen that Blur video with the cute little animated milk carton? Ooooh...too cute for words!I also liked George Micheal's Freedom video with all the sexy models(the guy in the fireplace with the tank-top...oh...boy)

OG- 09-26-01 06:05 PM

Fatboy Slim- Praise You
Bjork- the one with that bear
Crystal Method- Name of the Game
2Pac- Changes
Tool- Schism
Mindless Self Indulgence- Tight(just because what he does with the blunt at the begining is frickin cool! plus they don't look like their singing at all)
Beck- Where its at
Nirvana- Smells like Teen Spirit
Incubus- Drive and that A Ha video

And my all time favorite
It's not really an "offical" music video but an online group made a music video for Street Fighter the animated movie. The song is Face to Face- I won't lie down(kombat mix), and its a frickin amazing video. A masterpiece in my book.

bigvalbowski 09-26-01 06:38 PM

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" is pretty amazing but it's never played because of its length. :(

Fat Boy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" is a stellar video. Christopher Walken can really dance baby. Spike Jonze is the top video director in the profession.

Anyone seen Roger Sanchez's "Another Chance" video. I love videos that tell a story and this one has a great one. It's about a girl with a heart that's literally too big for her body and so she has to carry it around with her until she gets upset and her heart shrinks. Top Video.

Blur's "Coffee and TV" - the milk carton video is strangely moving.

Stereophonics have produced a number of videos recalling classic films. "Easy Rider" and "MASH" to name just two. They're fun.

BrodieMan 09-26-01 08:12 PM

spike jonze videos rock! i love "buddy holly" by weezer and "sabotage" by the beasties. i just love videos that are really clever and creative like that. hey, sades, that's awesome you gave the foo fighters a shout out :D did anyone see "next year"? it's sorta set in the past, but with the foo fighters in people's places and stuff. sorta like forrest gump. it rules. oh, yeah, and beck is extremely cool, too. nobody gave blink-182's "all the small things" a mention, but that's a classic. and i'll sound like a nostalgia dweeb, but a-ha's "take on me" was brilliant. say what you want about '80s synth-pop, that was a damn good video. hey, sades, you're the only person i know who gave blur their props for "coffee and tv" :D that rules! the sad little milk carton cries... well, blur is a very creative band, and song 2 had a good video, also. interesting (or not so interesting depending on who you are) side note: the fictious band gorillaz is completely made-up, but their lead singer is voiced by the same guy who does vox for blur! by the way "clint eastwood" should be on you guys' lists.

That's the one I just asked if anyone had seen it! I love it...so cute!

sadesdrk 09-26-01 09:32 PM

Yeah...I love sabotage and buddy holly...call me crazy (Hey Crazy!)but I didn't know those were all spike jonez...what a man!

sunfrog 09-27-01 02:27 AM

Hey I just saw the video for that new MJ song you like TWT. It has Marlon Brando and Chris Tucker in it. MJ looks like a plastic elf!! Sorry, but he scared me. :(

Yoda 09-27-01 03:32 AM

Yeah I saw it like twice today. Yep, he looks weird...but the song is GREAT, and the video is pretty dang good, too. The video and song do NOT go together well, but seperately, they're pretty dang good. After the VMAs, I thought MJ had basically lost his dancing ability, but I was obviously wrong, because he did quite well in the video. It was kind of funny, though...they fight the gangsters by dancing. Oh yeah, that would work. :D

PigsnieLite 09-27-01 03:59 AM

I thought the video looked, I dont know, OLD. Like it was made 15 years ago. And it creeped me out that hed even kiss a girl, ummm, if you were a girl TWT, would you want to kiss MJ? Eeeeek  The song was so-so.

sunfrog 09-27-01 04:22 AM

lol, yeah, would you kiss MJ Twt? If he tussled your hair and sang you a lullaby he wrote especially for you? :D

Yoda 09-27-01 04:23 AM

Uh, no. No friggin' way. I'll listen to his music until I'm dead, but I admit that he is one freaky looking dude.

sadesdrk 09-27-01 05:52 PM

I saw it too.I liked the scene where MJ and that chick were dancing with stage uplit from behind...she's an awesome dancer. How cool for her that she can say she danced with MJ.He totally looked like a freak. It makes me sad, because he's so freakin' talented.I wish he looked like the old MJ with the afro and the sparlie pajama outfit like in his Rock with You video back in the day.:(

BrodieMan 09-27-01 06:18 PM

ok, there are thousands of people we could be talking about here... i don't know why every post pertaining to music has to break into a micheal jackson discussion.

sadesdrk 09-27-01 09:36 PM

Well they were all talking about it so....:( Anyhoo,he's right.Another Spike Jonez video I like is Bjork's It's So Quiet...Shhh...Shhh!Great song and a wonderful, colorful video...the man is the epitemy of video greatness!

BrodieMan 09-28-01 06:03 PM

awe, it's ok, sades. i just thought you guys were talkin about him an awful lot, but it's fine. talk about whatever. hey, is that bjork video the one where the bear eats the guy and they're running through the woods or whatever? does anyone remember the bjork video directed by john k. ? (the creator/director of ren and stimpy) i seem to recall that, but i'm not really up on bjork.

sadesdrk 09-28-01 08:47 PM

The one I'm talking about is the one where it's done to look like the old american musicals.Everyone dances in the street(even the mailbox)it's so cute.

BrodieMan 09-29-01 12:39 AM

oh, yeah! i did see that. did anyone see the one that was supposed to look just like ren and stimpy, though? please don't tell me i'm imagining it. lol... i'm going insane! :D

OG- 09-30-01 08:11 PM

I just downloaded this video from a band I love called Primus. The song is The Devil Went Down to Georgia. It's the greatest music video I've ever seen. SO cool. VERY artistic. Just oozes style.

I love Primus, they play all sorts of different kinds of music. This song is a sort of country-folk thing. It's just awesome. Everything in that video just meshes perfectly together.

sadesdrk 06-24-02 06:45 PM

I was up kinda late last night...flipping the channels. I watched some videos for awhile and spotted two, new, good ones.

Incubis~ I like their new video Warning. I don't know why, but that lead singer guy just radiates sex. Good enough video, too. The girl in the "story" is really frightening when she's screaming like that. It bugged me at first, but then it was pretty interesting.

Dirty Vegas~ The video for Days Go By is fun. It's this guy in a suit dancing like a maniac. Great moves. There's these people crowded around, watching and commenting on how every year, he dances from sun up to sundown...waiting for this girl he lost. It's a great dance track and a cool video to go with it. :D Me likey.

Monkeypunch 06-25-02 12:43 AM

The Eminem video for Without Me is pretty damn funny, especially the dancing Osama Bin Laden, but I think my favorite videos are Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun, Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box, The Beastie Boys' Sabotage video, The Tenacious D video for F*ck her Gently, (which was directed by John K. who made up Ren and Stimpy) and Pearl Jam's video for Do the Evolution, which is just about the best video ever made.

Yoda 06-25-02 12:46 AM

Wow, I couldn't agree more. I've seen all of those 'cept Sabotage (I'm not sure if I've seen Do the Evolution or not), and they're all excellent videos...Heart Shaped Box especially, I thought (which, IMO, is Nirvana's best song, too). Black Hole Sun was freaky...I don't wanna see a little girl puke like that. It was cool nonetheless, though.

sadesdrk 06-25-02 01:11 AM

I have to admit, as much as I don't care too much for Eminem, his lyrics and videos are pretty damn hilarious. :yup: I like when he throws Moby.

I agree, Monkeypunch, Sabotage is my favorite video of all time. Close second is The Foo Fighters with Learning to Fly.

as far as visual or emotional videos go, I like Madonna's Bedtime Stories and R.E.M's Everybody Hurts.

Moby's kinda cute, and so is Eminem.

I like her song "Human Nature" off that album. Oops! I didn't know I wasn't supposed to talk about sex! I must have been crazy...

R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" has depressed me to tears before.

You said it. :(

sadesdrk 06-25-02 12:27 PM

Yeah, the song maybe...but the video has very uplifting qualities....
"...So hold on....hold on...."

Mary Loquacious 06-25-02 01:37 PM

One of my favorite sad REM songs is "Nightswimming." Just beautiful, and sad, too. I'm not sure if they have a video for that.

"Sabotage" is abso-f*cking-lutely the best video ever.

You know what irritates me? The country videos that think they have to have a little mini-movie to go along with the song. Cripes. There was one, one halfway decent one--and that would be Travis Tritt's "Anymore" (I think that's the name of the song)--made in the early 90's, and then they all went apesh*t.

Not that I actually watch the country videos channel. But I wanted to contribute to the conversation. :D

Sexy Celebrity 06-25-02 01:53 PM

Okay, I've turned on the Great American Country channel to prove your point.

So far, Ive seen a woman out in the rain. A man singing, his face close up. Now a bunch of men are playing cards, and they're looking at each other. Now a man's sitting on a car. Now there's a trashcan on fire. NOW THERE'S SNOW! Now the woman's behind a glass window. Now there's a bicycle. This man is really sad. Now the woman's standing outside alone, holding an umbrella.

NOT A DAY GOES BY.....

Now the man's sitting in a car. His buddies are driving him. Now he's looking at a BIG SCREEN on a building! And his woman's on it. Now he's sitting in a chair in a big room. Big windows. Now he's walking down alleys. Now there's a bearded man walking along in a leather jacket. Now the woman's wearing a horizontal striped sweater. Now there's rain pouring down a window.

Okay, it's over. And that was:

"NOT A DAY GOES BY"
by LONESTAR
CD: I'M ALREADY THERE

Logan 06-25-02 07:06 PM

I like the video for Guns 'N' Roses - November Rain. thats a well thought out and memorable video. A bit more recent but just as memorable is the video for "She is beautiful" by Andrew WK. Totally mad and it has an infectious tune :yup:

So much music, so many good video's. Does anyone remember Sigue Sigue Sputnik ? or should that be does anyone fondly remember them;)

I sure as hell don't. What is it?
Sounds scary and totally 80's.

Logan 06-25-02 08:28 PM

They were pretty scary

They headed a Japanese influenced "Cyber Punk" music revolution during the mid to late eighties in England. They were famous for big multi coloured hair and outrageous outfits. Their most famous songs are probably Love Missile F1-11 and 21st Century Boy. They don't sound too bad thesedays :D

If it did, that'd be one HELL of a medical problem.

Anyway... I'm a Michael Jackson fan myself. But I'm not a fan of his looks. Who is? I still question the vision of Lisa Marie Presley. Actually, I question a lot of things about her... but anyways, what's with his airplane nose? And what's with the way he's been badmouthing the president of Sony, Tommy Mottola? In one of the latest GLOBE magazines, he's shown holding up a childish poster with his picture, under the words "THE GOOD", and Mottola as the devil, under the words "THE BAD" and "THE UGLY". It says that he rode around in a double decker bus in NYC holding up the poster, calling Mottola the devil! Apparently, the article says that Mottola did nothing to Michael. Jacko's just pissed off because Invincible only sold 2 million copies.

And speaking of that CD, they spent $60 MILLION DOLLARS producing and promoting it! What a waste! That $60 million could have been spent on something better. Like my life.

marlowe203 08-29-02 01:47 AM

the best by far are

Do the Evolution by Pearl Jam
Fell in Love with a girl by the White Stripes
or Sober by TOOL
