My Favorite Non-Human Movie characters
 

They might be animals, they might be robots, they might be animated, they might not be animated, but there have been a lot of fun movie characters that weren't human and I have decided to explore this...get ready for a list of my favorite non-human movie characters:

I'm fond of the robot, Nono, with his appetite for nuts and bolts, in Ulysses 31 :).

Never seen that movie, sorry.

It was a very early Eighties cartoon :).

I'd have to think about it, but off the top of my head, it's probably either Wall-E or E.T. I also love Scrat from the Ice Age movies.

Yes, you should definitely watch Wall-E. He's not just one of my favorite characters, but it's also one of my all-time favorite movies.

Wall-E is also one of my all time favorite movies, he is a sweet heart and the movie is wonderfully made

Also does Alf count? Not a movie but he was great. :p

Alf is a television character, I'm only doing movie characters on this list.

Aww, I cannot edit my post but I wanted to add Sparky from Frankenweenie, lil boy is full of courage (and talking about courage..also courage the cowardly dog! even though it is not a movie)

I watched Frankenweenie recently for the horror countdown, and I was surprised at how much I liked it. While he's not my favorite non-human character, Sparky is another great non-human character.

Polynesia was the pet parrot of the good doctor (Rex Harrison) who was the doctor's liaison into the animal world when he finally decided to stop treating people and only treat animals. Polynesia eventually ended up being Dr. Dolittle's receptionist.

Robby was a major character in this space age re-thinking of Shakespeare's The Tempest...Robby later joined the cast of the CBS series Lost in Space.

It's been a long time since I saw the original Doctor Dolittle, but it was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid. It may be time for a rewatch.


I haven't seen the remake of Doctor Dolittle yet because the trailer didn't make it look interesting, but that guinea pig is adorable.

Robby the Robot wasn't the same robot that starred as The Robot in "Lost in Space", but he did appear in a few episodes.

Some may debate as to whether or not a ghost is human but those I say, make your own list. Jolly (James Caan) was the ghost of a deceased Broadway director/choreographer who decides to haunt his widow (Sally Field) when he learns that she's getting remarried.

I used to watch the TV show, but I don't think I ever saw the movie. I'll have to check that out. (I love the theme song for "Buck Rogers".)

You keep tripping me up when you include these humanoid characters in a non-human list, but if I were going to include someone from the movie "Ghost", it would probably be Patrick Swayze's ghost of Sam character.

I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid, but I love Snoopy in everything he's in.

I watched several Dracula movies for the horror countdown, and Frank Langella was definitely the sexiest version of Dracula. :up:

As you said, I expected R2-D2 to be higher on this list, but seeing him this low just makes me even more curious about the rest of your list.

Let me end this now...I have never been a "trekkie" and there will be no Star Trek characters on this list.

The first thing I said to my soon to be husband was that his voice reminded me of this character (which it didn't help that he's tall)

The late Jerry Orbach provided the voice for this character, a candlestick (who technically might be human because he's a human under a curse) who serves as Belle's guide to getting along in the palace of the Beast (voiced by Robby Benson).

Tim Allen was great as Buzz Lightyear, and I love how he still includes in-jokes about being Buzz Lightyear in some of his other shows. (There was an in-joke recently in his show "Last Man Standing" when his daughter made a comment about how she didn't know how her father (played by Tim Allen) already had a copy of Toy Story 4. :lol:)

I like The Cowardly Lion, but I hope there are some other characters from The Wizard of Oz who will appear later in this list.

Five different dogs were used to create the most terrifying canine onscreen ever...I got chills just posting this image. This story of a seriously rabid dog who traps a woman (Dee Wallace Stone) and her son (Danny Pintauro) in a car scared me so badly I can never watch it again.

I probably would put the Cowardly Lion in my own personal top 5.
