I'm going to be a father.
 

Exciting news.

My wife is pregnant.

She just dropped the news on me today with chocolate chip pancakes that spelled out DAD. We haven't told anyone yet, we want to wait the 3 months first, but I feel like no one here will spoil the news to people I know :p

I can't even imagine how my life is about to change. It's scary, exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. When I first joined Mofo I just started dating my wife. It had been probably 4-5 months. Now more than a decade later we are married and expecting our first child.

I better get my movie watching and Mofo fighting in now, who knows how much time I'll have once the little one has arrived. :p

As of right now there are no plans to find out the sex of the baby beforehand. She wants it to be a surprise. We've talked about some names for either outcome and will post pictures of course once the baby has arrived.

I just had to tell someone (dozens of people I guess).

Yeah, we're waiting the 3 months.

Her sister got pregnant with their second child, told everyone, people all bought gifts and what not and then she had a miscarriage, which is very common in the early stages of pregnancy. So instead of dealing with all that we're waiting until after the first trimester where the chances of a miscarriage significantly drop.

All I'm saying is if we all can know this information, you should let some really close people, like your parents, know this. Don't worry about the bad stuff and just celebrate. Celebrate! I feel dirty knowing you're having a kid when the grandparents don't even know it yet.

Well, I refuse to be happy for you then since you can't even rep me and if everyone else in your real life doesn't even know yet. If you're gonna be so worried about miscarriages that you can't even tell family and people in your real life, I don't see why I should have to see you as a happy father-to-be.

I'll consider you a dad when you act like a dad. This "I'm gonna tell nobody except strangers on an internet forum" thing is not dad-like. You shoulda kept it a secret from us, too.

When my wife got pregnant for the first time, we didn't tell our respective parents immediately. Shock/apprehension will do that, so if the opportunity had been there to break the ice by announcing it first to a bunch of semi strangers on the internet had been there, we'd probably have taken it.

Congratulations! The thing you're worried about is what happened to me. My wife was pregnant, she told everybody, and so I told a few people, and then she miscarried. The second time, we were more cautious. We were assured once they can detect a heartbeat, the chances of a miscarriage go way down. Best of luck to you and your wife.

Actually Josephine, Joe, or Joseph is a common yet good name. It really depends what the last name is cause you want it to flow.

We told our immediate family. They are all super excited. My side more than her side, this will be my parent's first grandchild. It will be her parent's third. So I feel that throughout the entire thing my family will be more excited, which always seems to be the case....don't get me started on the wedding problems!!!!

We plan on telling our friends and others in early June.

We went to an early ultrasound....all I saw was a peanut, hahahaha.

I don't know if it has hit me yet, it did when I went into the ultrasound, but I feel like it's left again. I'm sure it will come back and hit me big at some point.

Since this is a movie forum, I remember a scene from either TV or the movies where a happy couple makes a pregnancy announcement and another character, a goth-ish girl with an 'I-don't-care' attitude says; "I don't know why guys get all happy about that...it just means that their hot-piece-of-ass is going to get like all fat and sh-t"....


The movie with the above mentioned scene is not 'Romy and Michele" which does have a similarly themed joke....
