A discussion of the best films of 1975 and there's no mention of Tommy? I'm sorry, but that movie has really grown on me over the years and I consider it one of the best films of that year and definitely made me want to look more into the work of Ken Russell, which is very hard to find.

'75 was a pretty good year for films. How I wish that were the case in the recent few years!

My personal favorite was Three Days of the Condor, a near perfect Deep State and spy thriller with Redford, Dunaway, and the incomparable Max von Sydow. It also helped to revive a career-stalled Cliff Robertson.

I also enjoyed The Drowning Pool, a sequel to Harper, which featured Paul Newman, Melanie Griffith, and Joanne Woodward. It was another perfect part for Newman, and the writing was fresh and absorbing.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was, of course a very popular top film, but to me is was not only over the nest, but a little over the top. Memorable performance by Jack Nicholson.

It would be your loss! It’s absolutely brilliant and very funny. There is an adorable scene which can’t be really translated, where the owl says, ‘Hedge-ho-o-g, where a-are you?’ and elongates all the vowels, it’s hilarious and sounds like hooting. Plus it received every imaginable film award in the USSR. Highly recommend.

honeykid 08-09-20 11:58 AM

I'm sure it is, @AgrippinaX but it's an animated short. Really, those of you who know me, do you genuinely think I'd like it? BTW, you might as well, it's only 11 minutes is not an acceptable answer and it certainly isn't a positive. :D

The dog does look a teeny bit like Drew - if you stand on your head, sideways on, with a hydrangea blocking most of your view and squint your eyes quite tightly whilst a wasp repeatedly stings your nose. Even then though I'm not convinced it would be to your taste although I do think you could possibly create your own enjoyment at one point by humming the infamous shark 'theme' from Jaws.

For the record I quite enjoyed it.

I can understand that. There are plenty of high-quality films I just do not watch. I try to make myself, but anime and plenty other stuff is not for me. Just wanted to show some appreciation for dear old Hedgehog.
