Name That Movie (Video Clips):

OK, I have wanted to try this game, since I first bought my Plextor, a good 2 years ago. It is like the game "Name that tune", but with movies. Click each picture, and a new page will open. Watch the video clip, and guess what movie it is. I am doing this in the same way that I did the picture game, "minus the theme". You will get 2 points, in the first set, for every movie guessed right, and 1 point, in the second set, for every movie guessed right.

Well, just my luck. I noticed a way to make the picture quality on these better. It was a setting on my Plextor. I was about done, so I started loading them to my Photobucket account. Now that the quality is better, the file size is allot larger, so they shrank them all. *faint* I'm going to bed, and will fix this later today. This is what they ended up looking like. I would assume that you all prefer them the other way?!?

Yeah, I already am, actually. I just did like always, and snagged my last post from the movie stills game. I change the movie titles, scores, keep him as the winner, etc. He's such a brat. :D

Yeah, the way that squeezes the image on the sides is really horrible and makes even a familiar clip look distorted and weird.

I can't wait to find out the title of that movie. I keep replaying the clip and laughing my ass off at the old lady. You stop it at just the right spot too, "peanuts!". I am dying to find out if she is a crazy old lady that is throughout the movie or if this is the only scene with her in it....the anticipation is killing me, Lisa.

I knew Arthur without even downloading the first clip, just from the still of the little bear at the carnival shooting game. I've probably seen Arthur about two-hundred times, starting with twice when I was only a lad of eleven at the cinema back in 1981.

I was surprised that only 2 people knew that that was Friday the 13th Part II. I assumed that it would be one of the easiest movies in the set. That was the only reason that I put it in there. Go figure!

I had purposely posted a scene from Wayne's World 2, that resembled a scene from Jurassic Park. Hey, I have to have some fun here as well. ;)

The next set may be a tad trickier than this one. Some date back a bit. You know, like 40 - 60 years ago. :D

I know i'm sorry Desty. I moaned about missing the last one and i am yet to do one! I AM AN AWFUL HUMAN BEING. Havnt been around of late but now IM BACK.

But also, i must say i looked at most of the clips today and i didnt know one of them! Which is a shame coz i got almost all of them in the last game. GAH! I'll sit this one out then join in the next game.

Yep, I assumed that this would be a tough set. Well, maybe not the first movie. I was actually impressed that Holden got clip 5, without playing it. I figured that he may be the only one to get that movie, but I questioned if even he would be able to figure it out, by the first scene alone.
I made the second set with a few obvious clues, to help you all out.

Well I don't happen think The Birds is one of Hitch's very best of the best, but Notorious most certainly is, by just about any criteria. Plus you've got Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman at their dreamiest, Claude Rains and some Nazis hiding in South America, wine bottles filled with irradiated MacGuffin...what's not to like?

The nickname for the all-important device driving the plot that actually didn't matter exactly what it was is a MacGuffin. In Notorious it's the sand in the wine bottles, in North by Northwest it's the microfilm, in Pulp Fiction it's the briefcase, in Mission: Impossible III it's the Rabbit's Foot, etc. The audience never learns what the object or information is, and frankly we don't need to. If there were a couple lines in NbyNW detailing that the "government secrets" Van Damme was smuggling were plans to a new missile program or a super jet or a map of the sewer system under the White House or whatever, it would be superfluous information. The way the story is constructed, those details don't matter. What's important is that his leaving the country with them and Miss Kendall must be prevented, and that Roger Thornhill is the only one who can stop them.

Because I got too cute and went with Herbie Goes Bananas. There were three sequels to the original, not even counting that recent piece of garbage with Lindsay Lohan or the 1997 made-for-TV remake starring Bruce Campbell. Hell, there was even a short-lived television series back in the early '80s.

My greatest surprise in this game is that I can still readily identify the shots even when they are panned and scanned all to *****. It does make it harder, though. For instance, I still got the first one in this batch without even opening it up, but it took me a good fifteen to twenty seconds to recognize. Were it displayed in its proper aspect ratio, I'd have known it instantly.

By the by, anybody who has to actually play number five to figure out what it is needs to give up playing the game and spend more time watching movies.
