I love the theater but sometimes watching a movie at home is the only alternative you have....
1: If you want to watch the directors cut or the unrated version of a film.
2: If you prefer to watch a foreign movie subtitled and not dubbed,(I tend to prefer subtitled films for expressiveness.)

Really depends. I think the theaters offer an environment that home can't but home can offer an environment that a theater can't. So it just depends.

For a blockbuster it's gotta be the movie theater but I'm quite happy to watch most stuff at home

Always prefer the theatre, but that is because we've got a nice art deco theatre near our house :)
