It's annoying when random strangers on the internet message you and want to talk dirty. This guy on Reddit that I didn't know messaged me and was asking me dirty questions. I don't know if he assumed I was a woman or if he was just horny and didn't care.

Sounds like a complete lack of empathy, which is needed when dealing with vulnerable people.

Same thing happens on X. I ignore everything like this. Doesn’t bother me since I don’t engage in their nasty little ways.

I don’t watch telly often but I was flicking through tonight and started to watch the quiz show “Tenable” which Warwick Davis presents. The question was to name as many as 10 most popular curries ordered from Indian restaurants in the UK and this guy says “Vindaloo” and “korma” which are so obvious and of course are correct. The other very obvious one would be “tikka masala” but on his 3rd answer this fella say “vegetable curry” 🙄 and then he doesn’t know any more curries 🙄

Being called "Kiddo."

For whatever reason there are a couple of clients at work (veterinary clinic) who call me "Kiddo" every time they come in. They're both very nice people, but it's just kind of weird. I'll be 44 years old in about two weeks. I'm not a damn kiddo!

I unloaded a couple ‘friends’ that way.

And it has happened two more times since then! I told this one guy I was a male and he didn't believe me! I finally blocked him after he asked about my boobs.

Does your username sound feminine at all?

I use Reddit daily and I rarely get messages from people and when I do it's never sexual. Then again, my Reddit avatar does have a frowny face and my username is Resident_Bitch so maybe that's off-putting enough to stop people from shooting their shot. I do get lots of "Username checks out" comments on my posts, though.

My user name is Illustrious Ant, which sounds genderneutral to me.

Re: Things that annoy you...

Dunkin Donuts crowded today for late breakfast early lunch crowd. Quite a long line. Unfortunately I get behind a woman & her son who have no idea what they want when they get to the register. Like they didn’t wait in line long enough to decide. Drives me nuts always.

Intractable problem?

How do you help someone who complains constantly, has multiple self-imposed physical, mental & emotional problems, a persecution complex, is focused on blaming others, and constantly asks you for advice or help, but then becomes defensive or offended at any of your advice or suggestions on how to try to find help?

They immediately respond to any suggestions with how they won't work (and how stupid it was for you to even suggested it), or how none of what you say applies to them (like how they may have problems but certainly don't need a psychiatrist - besides, how do you find a good one, how can you trust them, and how can they be paid their exorbitant fees when insurance doesn't cover them? etc.)

Sedate them or avoid them, cause you can't fix them if they don't want any help.

Sadly, that's largely true. It depends on the relationship you have with them, but sometime just telling it straight is all you have. Do you want help? Really? Because you shoot down every suggestion and don't seem prepared to try whatever I or anyone else suggests. Just don't deliver it accusingly, in fact, pre-empt it with how hard it might be to hear and say. You may still get abuse, but you'll have done what you could and, sometimes, it take a while for the seed to flower. Good luck with it.

I had a friend who smoked. Walking down the street one day she took out a ciggie & I made the mistake of saying how bad they were for women (especially a woman her age, I thought). She was FURIOUS that I said anything &, believe it or not, our friendship ended right there. Oh, before she stormed off she told me that I inject myself into everyone’s “story”. :D
