Pick stuff from your top 10. I think they are all pretty safe bets.

Interesting nominationm. While I am not the world biggest fan of old hollywood movies I think I should not give up on the genre. I loved The Fountainhead (1948), for instance.

Just saw Daniel M is in! Fantastic!

And I'm willing to give ample time this round. I figured until September 20th, may even extend to beginning of October.

We have a very diverse set of nominations thus far! I really think this will be an excellent round.

gbgoodies 05-22-15 09:01 PM

I submitted my nomination.

Pussy Galore 05-23-15 09:38 PM

I'm not sure what to nominate, I always try to go with something that most people have not seen so that they can discover it. These are the ones I consider (because I thnk they're all masterpiece). Tell me which ones interest you the most, the least so that I nominate something most of you look forward to watch.

La Grande Illusion (1937) Jean Renoir (might be the best war movie, great acting, subtle touches that makes it a masterpiece)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028950/?ref_=nv_sr_2
Viridiana (1961) Luis Bunuel (best Bunuel movie, great depiction of human nature, of the christian faith, the main actress Silvia Pinal is so beautiful)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055601/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
Le Grand Bleu (1988) Luc Besson (You might find it generic, but I love this film beautiful visuals, the main theme is freedom and it's just great)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095250/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Ma Nuit chez Maude (1969) Eric Rohmer (A very intelligent, well written great movie)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064612/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
Un Homme et Une Femme (1966) Claude Lelouch (very stylish, very very stylish romance movie)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0061138/?ref_=nv_sr_1
My Dinner with Andre (1981) Louis Malle (the whole movie is a dialogue in a restaurant)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082783/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Wolf Children (2012) Mamoru Hosoda (my favorite anime movie and I've watched a lot)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2140203/?ref_=nv_sr_1
The Visitor (2007) Thomas McCarthy (I didn't expect much, but it really blew me away, how a university professor can be tred of living and how there's a world we don't know for immigrants)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0857191/?ref_=nv_sr_1
The Professional (1981) George Lautner (very stylish cop movie with a Ennio Moricone score)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082949/?ref_=fn_al_tt_3
Dīner de Cons (1997) Francis Veber (funniest comedy ever imo)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119038/
Le Cercle Rouge (1970) Jean-Pierre Melville (best bank robbery movie ever)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065531/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
The Hill (1965) Sidney Lumet (A very underrated Sidney Lumet movie staring Sean Connery that is a masterpiece)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059274/
Mccabe and Mrs Miller (1971) Robert Altman (A very atypical western with gorgeous visuals. I think it's the closest I've seen to what it actually was in this time.)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067411/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and... Spring (2000) Kim-Ki Duk (The ''calmest'' movie I've seen, how to raise to be a monk.)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374546/?ref_=nv_sr_1
That Obscure Object of Desire (1977) Luis Bunuel (I said Viridiana was the best Bunuel, but this one might be just as good)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0075824/?ref_=nv_sr_1
Rouge (1994) Krysztof Kieslowski (Trintignant is great in this very intelligent, well thought movie.)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111495/

Haven't seen but would love to. Also interested in the Rohmer, as he seems popular around here.

Add Wolf Children and Le Cercle Rouge to "haven't seen but would love to."

I didn't like Viridiana but only seen it once-wouldn't mind trying it again.

I've seen two from Rohmer and enjoyed both of them, but Claire's Knee didn't fare too well in the 5th HoF.

A Man and a Woman is already on my watchlist.

I loved Wolf Children and That Obscure Object of Desire.

I really liked The Red Circle, but didn't that already win a HoF?

I thought McCabe and Mrs. Miller was just ok, but I want to see it again.

I'd be happy to watch any of those, it doesn't matter if I've already seen them or not.

cricket 05-23-15 09:56 PM

I think a few members have seen Wolf Children.

Obviously I would prefer that you pick an English movie, (but I'll watch a foreign-language film if you nominate it), but of the English movies on your list,

I saw this, and I thought it was okay, but I didn't think it was as great as most people do.

I would be VERY interested in watching this movie, especially with the 1960s list deadline coming up soon. I like some of Sidney Lumet's other movies, and I like Sean Connery.

I'm not certain, but I think Goodies and Vicky have seen it. I watched it after the animation list, or else it would've been in my top 5

Yes, I saw Wolf Children. IMO, it was very good, but not great. (But you have to remember that I'm not a fan of anime.)

Le Cercle Rouge won a movie tournament. Nominate whatever you like, but please don't say exactly what on here :p. Next Sunday is the unveil.

no, I won't say in advance what I'll nominate raul don't worry. I just want to nominate something that I hope will be enjoyed by most members.

Yeah, I've watched Wolf Children.

It's a very good movie, but it isn't my kind of movie. I thought the story was well told and the animation was absolutely gorgeous, but I just couldn't get past the whole werewolf/bestiality thing.

That said, nominate whatever you think is most worthy. I don't think it really matters whether other people like anime or not other whether they've seen a particular film or not. It's about what deserves to be recognized.

Re: The 7th MoFo Hall of Fame

Also it doesn't have to be the Hall of the unseen either

If they like animation they like Wolf Children, its not a hardcore aniota stuff like Utena Adolescence of Utena or that K-On! movie I nominated. My nomination this time will be much more hardcore, the type of voice acting that explodes ear drums with high pitching voices and the bright colors that induce diabetes! Oh, yeah, 15 minute long transformation sequences. Has lots of pink beams and flying little girls as well. As well as talking magic staffs.

I am sure Bluedeed and Sane will love it because they like foreign moovies. :D This is the real deal. :D
