Re: Top 10 Films of 2006
10. Superman Returns
Brian Singer was born to direct superhero movies. X-Men under his direction were awesome. He leaves, X3 sucks. He joins Superman, it's awesome. He's born to direct superhero movies. He is enough of a comic nerd to make his films appeal to hardcore fans, but a good enough director to appeal to casual fans. 9. Rocky Balboa It is possible my appreciation for this film stems merely from the pleasant surprise of its quality. I was cheering in my seat. Great flick. 8. Lady in the Water This took a lot of flack, but I really enjoyed it. 7. Little Children This may have been the best film of 2006. However, it's genre will not appeal to everyone, and though I enjoyed it, it's not going to crack my Top 5. 6. Letters from Iwo Jima I am not a Clint Eastwood fan, but I think this may be his best work. Ken Watannabe is superb in every role he takes. 5. Children of Men Clive Owen is brillian at this apocolyptic thriller. It got screwed out of the Best Cinemetography Oscar. 4. V for Vendetta IMDB.com lists this as a 2005 film. However, it's release date (according to the same IMDB page) is March 2006. That being said, I really enjoyed this. It's weird that two apocalyptic movies came out in the same year though... 3. The Prestige Nolan has tremendous guts with his daring projects. Memento is one of my favorites, and Prestige belongs right up there. 2. Little Miss Sunshine If you didn't like this movie you are made of stone. There I said it... 1. Brick This little seen flick starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt is by far the best film of the year. It is a modern film noir done in an interesting visual style. The cast is filled with no-names (except Levitt and RICHARD ROUNDTREE), yet the acting is uncanny. Best movie of the year, bar none. See it if you haven't. Right now. |

Casino Royale is a better film. The Departed was great, though.

I agree. It was the best Bond since Goldfinger, but Bond flicks can only go so far, and being the Best Film of the year is beyond it's reach. |
Re: Top 10 Films of 2006
It was an emotional investigation into the Bond character. Showed he had a heart (Like the shower scene with Vesper)
|
Re: Top 10 Films of 2006
Number One

Re: Top 10 Films of 2006
Didn't it only play on like 2 screens in America?

Re: Top 10 Films of 2006
Is that because you're not a fan of Lynch or didn't like the sound of the film Holden?

I liked the emotional investigation of Bond a lot. Of course, I always liked George Lazenby's Bond for that very reason. |
