I was on BCS with dteam, Hannibal, ahs, WW, Black Sails, Night Of, The Crown. Basically any tv show with violence usually. Whatever movies i had just seen but I dont hang about on those for long although I've loved a few movies so much I've spent months chatting on those boards. Just enough to discuss liking it or not and seeing other PoVs as a general rule. A few celebrity boards to study celebrity worship syndrome. how about you?

I started at the Prometheus board and jumped to the BvS board. There I stayed for the sheer pleasure of all the meltdowns happening.

I also commented on 1 or 2 other movies I didn't like. I generally only comment on the ones I don't like. I don't think I could add anything else to the ones I felt satisfied with

What's BvS? Oh I think I know. I havent seen that movie so havent been there. I think I saw dteam on The Force Awakens board. I commented there i was disappointed with that movie after growing up with the first three, thought the second three were bad, and didnt like TFA. Gave my reasons and had some good chats from people who liked it so it was good to share opposing PoVs without fisty cuffs. I like seeing both sides because it can give me fresh eyes to go back for a rewatch. I also like talking about movies I love but happy to read the opposing PoV when it doesnt resort to 'this movie sucks and anyone who likes it is *insert lame insult*. They get pretty tedious.

Stayed on the star wars board for a bit because that place was just one big punch up, but the novelty wore off after a day or so, Here sp far I've experienced the more civil style of discussion where a poster to give an eg, told me why she dropped off Black Sails which I've really enjoyed. It was good to see her reasons and I totally understand them. No fisty cuffs. A much welcome relief.

Do you think there will be a flood of IMDB posters when it actually closes down? Everyone is still pretty much clinging to the boards there. There was a piece in The Guardian today about the boards shutting down.

(Is swearing allowed here or is that a no-no? Do you take the British or the American approach? As a matter of interest, is this an American site?)

Yeah, sadly there are Fanatics in every big franchise board. If you say you didn't like the movie they'll call you names and what not. That's when I start having my share of fun.

I hope this Forum is nothing of that sort. I prefer to hangout with actual adults who are able to have a proper intelligent conversation even if the opinions may differ.

A welcoming site is always nice as long as the people who come in are also nice and non.abusive.
There may be a torrent of IMDB refugees coming, which is only natural.

Which Nolan. I've recently come off Jono Nolan's WW which I love love love. I just havent seen a Nolan Batman trilogy. Although maybe I have so you have to jog my memory. Did he do the Heath Ledger one? I freaking loved it. What a ride.

I've been wondering about that. I assume there has to be. I think you bunch are unusual in finding a new place preemptively: I imagine most will keep using IMDB until the end. Heck, some might not even realize yet.

We'll try to have a higher than usual mod presence on the 20th, and we'll probably be a little quicker with deletions and bannings, simply to make sure it doesn't upend everything.

People only get instantly banned if they're being particularly bad, or are clearly doing something they've been asked not to do. Everyone else gets at least a courtesy warning/explanation and plenty of clarification on the rules first.

I don't mind diving into the more granular details of all this if you like, though it might be too pedantic to do publicly. Feel free to fire any test case questions my way via PM, though, if you want a better feel for any of it.

I'm the owner and I'm an American, and I believe the server we lease is in America. I'd say a plurality of users are probably American, too, but it's not an overwhelming number.

The Heath Ledger one for me was a total airpunching squeal of a movie. I loved that cinematic experience so much my hair curled. Still gut punched about Heath, though. What a fine actor and died way too young.

Ok, just wanted to know. In the U.K. everyone uses th F-word every two seconds and it's no big deal. OTOH, I've known Americans to faint if you say "hell" for some reason, lol. Having said that, I grew up in th US but didn't know a lot of swear words back then. :p

It's just missing the opening quote tag. That might look like this (sans asterisks):

The latter one is how you get the username on the quote, as well as a link to the post it came from (the number is the post ID). This is also what you'll get automatically if you hit that little talk bubble icon between the thumb and the cog on the top right of each post. That's how you quote a post individually.

You can quote more than one at a time under the Cog with "Multi-Quote" by clicking that link on several posts and then hitting Post Reply.

Also, if you ever want to know how something works, just quote it and see the code for yourself. You can also play around with it by hitting the Preview button until it looks right.

Just little "points" you get when your posts are voted up (the thumb icon mentioned above). No tangible value, just lets people know you like or approve of their post somehow. Camo is Camo and Miss Vicky is president, #notmypresident, but, nevertheless MoFo's president.:)

It's case-by-case. If it's purely content, like for an actual discussion about violence in a movie, and you label it with a brief warning, then that's usually okay. Particularly if it's a video that someone can choose to play or not, and not just a big, gory image someone might see just when scrolling.
