Re: The Buffy Thread
Damn you guys, I just finished it up recently.
Well, looks like its back to season 1. |
Re: The Buffy Thread
Just finished up Season 4 (again). Restless is still mind-blowingly good. I am captivated by it every damn time!
On to season 5! Third time through for me, btw. Once again, different things catching my attention this time round. Captivated by the Willow/Tara progression this time for some reason. Season 4 is an odd suck, which seems to contain both the best (Hush/Restless) and the worst (Beer Bad/Where the Wild Things Are) of the series, episode-wise. |
Re: The Buffy Thread
My girlfriend thought Restless was an odd way to end the season after the epic battle before. I just smiled and said that's why this show is awesome.

Re: The Buffy Thread
Yeah, I don't care for Restless, though I love Beer Bad. :D
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
I will negative rep you!!!!
|
in Restless, i like when Anya figures out how to control the ice cream truck: "steering by gesturing emphatically"
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
Love it! :D
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
Ah, Anya. One of my favorite TV characters ever.

Re: The Buffy Thread
Actually going back through these as well. Just finished up season 2 last week. It's really, really weird watching these on DVD. I am one of the crazy ass faithful that watched this show religiously every Tuesday until it got moved over to the WB and then I think she moved to Thursday? I can't remember. Anyway, it's been many years and every Tuesday I still lament that Buffy is no longer on. I lead kind of a sad life I guess.
But yeah, season 3 is getting going now and I'm stuck on it again. I love this show. May even watch Angel again after this. |
Soo, how about a Buffy marathon amongst us MoFo's?
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
Yes. Always.
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
I watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer last summer and fell in love with that show. Each of the characters were so vivid, detailed, and just alive. I may start rewatching it again soon.
|
My marathon run is slower than a coach travelling from London to Scotland. I'm only up to season 3, The Zeppo, an episode I enjoy immensely. Going through my first rewatch, I am never realised how complex Faith was as a character. I find her even more compelling this time round.
The final scene in the episode I just watched, Revelations, is pretty telling as to what's going on in Faith, i.e. she doesn't even know. First she's angry about being duped by Kristen Scott Thomas' sister, and then she goes on all cold towards Buffy like it's her fault. At some point in the scene just as Buffy is about to leave, she says 'Buffy wait' or something to that effect, only to then say 'nothing. She's got a range of emotions going on even early on, and it's going to be a pleasure to see how her arc olds up through to Angel and the 7th season. It helps that Eliza is drop dead, too. Might have to give Dollhouse a chance. |
When you lot rewatch this, do you also rewatch Angel? And if so, do you guys watch it in the correct order? i.e. start watching the first episode of Angel after the first ep of Buffy season 4, and switch back and forth between the shows until you conclude with Angel season 5?
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
I think I'd just watch one series and then the other. As I watched them as broadcast, I did watch them alternately. That's how they were shown. Buffy and 8pm, then Angel at 9pm.
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
I have actually kinda fallen out of the Buffy Fandom...I dunno, the newer comics aren't great, they go for sensationalism (Buffy gets pregnant, goes for an abortion, finds out she's actually the buffybot the whole time...or Billy, the new gay male slayer...cause in comics right now? Gotta have gay guys. Not kidding. It's like a new gimmick.) rather than good storytelling. Still love the show, but haven't watched it in a long time.
|
Re: The Buffy Thread
Pfft. Comics. Buffy ended with them staring into the remains of the Hellmouth.
|
Yeah, i'm not big on the comics, either. They don't even have Sarah Michelle Gellar voice her own character on the DVD version of season 8. They don't exist to me.

Yep. At least the last two times I've watched it I've done it that way and next time I'll do the same. I'm thinking that might be soon as I can't find anything on the telly that I find interesting. |

I've done this, and it gets kind of silly when you get to Buffy season 7/Angel season 4. So wait a minute, two apocalypses are going on at the same time, and no one seems to notice the other one? You'd think that the Scooby Gang would be at least somewhat impacted by the huge Jasmine cult springing up all over the world, or the sun being blotted out in Los Angeles. Not even a mention, seriously? Due to the obvious lack of shared continuity, especially in the later seasons, it's definitely best to watch each series by themselves. |
