Forgot Pirates of the Caribbean. Some people didn't like the third installment, but I liked it.

Three Colors trilogy and Maniac Cop 1-3

Favorite narrative trilogy: Francis Ford Coppola’s Godfather Trilogy
Favorite thematic trilogy: Oliver Stone’s Vietnam War Trilogy (Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, Heaven & Earth)
Favorite former trilogy: Indiana Jones Trilogy (IMO, it should have stayed a trilogy)

Has the Before Trilogy been mentioned? That was a good one, own that one on disc.

What else do I own? Three Colors, Apu and BDR have all been mentioned.

Oh, The Marseille Trilogy (Marius/Fanny/Cesar)

Re: Excellent trilogies

Looking up the subject, Mrinal Sen had The Absence Trilogy (which I didn't even know was a thematic trilogy until just now) - and both Sen and Satyajit Ray had Calcutta Trilogies. And another from the Parallel Cinema Movement, Ghatak's Partition Trilogy - All of those were outstanding.

Others I saw listed that I liked

The Battle of Chile Trilogy
Daimajin Trilogy
Detective Dee Collection (Tsui Hark)
Guardians of the Galaxy
Henry Fool
Khan Asparuh Trilogy from Bulgaria
Hammer's Quatermass trilogy
Musashai - Samurai Trilogy

Is Avatar a trilogy yet?
I thought only two movies were released so far.

You mean the BBC films? Yeah those are great.

The best trilogies ever are Human Condition, and Original Star Wars. The rest I've seen have major weak links either in part or whole.

I know everyone ("everyone") loves Dark Knight and Lord of the Rings trilogies, except I hate them both, and pretty much always have (once Dark Knight became a trilogy I had fallen out of love with Dark Knight and I always hated Rises).

I hate Raimi's Spider-Man nonsense. Indiana Jones' series isn't a trilogy. I don't like Evil Dead. Hobbit is abysmal trash. The Star Wars Prequels are eh, and the Sequels are crap. Back to the Future I only saw the first one, which I didn't love, and I have minimal, basically no, interest in the sequels. I can't think of any others. I should say me not thinking of others is because my memory is piss-poor and not because there are no other good ones. I know I've barely marked the surface of trilogies. I hated the first two Godfather films, so I won't watch the (supposedly-) lesser third entry.

Addendum; I forgot about the Dollars Trilogy, which is shiny, although I'm not a huge fan of Fistful of Dollars. It's good. I just much prefer For a Few Dollars More, and of course The Good the Bad and the Ugly is excellent.

Near as I can figure it's just two movies at the moment. I believe a third is coming out though. I think it's in preliminary stages, so it can't be a trilogy yet. Soon though.

That's what I thought.
Thanks. :)

Looks like the third film is coming out in December. It's approaching faster than I initially thought.

I thought I read that there were supposed to be four Avatar movies eventually, but I don't know if I'm remembering correctly or not.

I liked the first movie, but I'm not a fanatic about it, so I haven't really kept up with the news about the sequels.

I read something about two sequels, and then a first sequel came out, and now this one this year, so I looked on IMDb, and apparently there are plans for entries 4 and 5, so a third and fourth sequel are coming too. I guess Cameron wanted five films? I saw the first one like three times and have no desire to watch anything in that mythos again. It's not something I particularly enjoyed. It looked nice. I just thought the story was bland.

Maybe what I read was that there are four sequels being made?
That would account for the five films total.

That could be. Or he added a fifth after the success of the second? I honestly don't know. I haven't kept up well enough to have any more answers.

Seen the trilogy a couple of times. Love it.
