Another one that comes to mind is the musical Fame, which was first a movie, then became a T.V. show and a stage musical. Actually, the music from the stage show is a great deal better than the original movie. I listened to the soundtrack from an online source--it was pretty cool.

I'll bet Fame was a good stage show.

I'd like to see that Abba musical someday, though. The music is pretty cool. But I'm not sure it qualifies as a stage show based on a movie! On a group's music, sure, but not a movie!

Now...now....l was just having some fun. :modest:

ABBA and Mama Mia!.
You're so picky....but yes you’re correct. I just thought it was interesting that someone came up with a musical based on their music.
Hmmm...maybe my interupting the flow of the mating dance made you a little pickyunish. Sorry about that. http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmili.../goodnevil.gif :modest:
(Yes, I'm being a dickens.)

Now that I’ve had a little time to think about it....I can’t believe I forgot about....

Beauty and the Beast....Disney’s musical version of their film. It was a little darker than the film, but still great.

The Lion King...the musical version of Disney's animated film. I remember hearing alot of buzz about Julie Taymor and how she recreated it.

The Producers....from Mel Brooks' 1968 movie.

and....
Saturday Night Fever was also adapted for the stage.

The music is great. I haven't seen the show, but I sure would like to.

Hey, that's a pretty neat emoticon!

Yeah, I've seen the Beauty and the Beast show in Disneyland. Haven't seen the Lion King show though--I wonder how they pulled that one off! The Producers... of course! I should have mentioned that one. It seems to be part of a recent trend to make stage shows out of movies.

I just had to share....I read in the USA Today, that Filmmaker Mike Nichols will direct a musical version of Monty Python and the Holy Grail...tentatively renamed Spamalot. The musical is slated to open on Broadway spring of 2005.

Sounds fun. :D
