I can't believe Peter Dinklage & Sean Bean agreed to do this, they are actually good decent actors.

Guess they needed the money....

the concept of this movie would have been fantastic if it was in the hands of more.....intelligent beings.

This isn't that intelligent of a movie. Wouldn't matter who's in it.

I think talented beings would be the better word. ;)

If Daniel Day Lewis, Christoph Waltz, or say even Jude Law were in this wouldn't make the concept of this film better in any way. It would just ruin the actors credibility just a tad.

Re: Pixels

I think that the problem with Adam Sandler movies nowadays is that he doesn't care, even slightly, anymore. He looks depressed and listless, he puts no effort into any of his films, from acting to writing, to...anything. I actually thought that this could have been a fun, Ghostbusters-esque flick with fun special effects, and I'll admit seeing the Dinkles in the trailer made me want to see it a lot...but then the reviews hit. I can see a film with one or two bad reviews, I could still like it, I don't know, but Pixels got unanimously angry bad reviews...I suppose if this pops up on Netflix and I've watched everything else...

He was actually good in The Cobbler. The only good Adam Sandler movie (in my opinion) since Billy Madison in 1995.

I was talking about someone other then Happy Madison doing the production and no Adam Sandler.

I'm sure people would settle for Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis.

That would be Ghostbusters

My point exactly. There's nothing inherently intelligent about the premise of Ghostbusters, but people still liked it well enough based on the talent of the people involved in its production. Pixels basically swaps ghosts for videogame aliens as the enemy that comically mismatched characters band together to fight. Monkeypunch more or less said the same thing - this could have been a fun little movie if it was involved more capable individuals in the creative process, but Sandler and co. got involved and decided to aim low instead. To quote Roger Ebert, it's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

This concept couldn't have made great cinema, but it could have made for a good film and a really fun time at a theater with the right people.

Re: Pixels

Not really I think Sandler was better in The Last Movie with Barrymore. Also Its possible that Sandler is a family man now and so maybe his expression of boardness is because like all older actors they do have things on there mind and Sandler was never an oscar winning actor. I think the supporting cast failed Sandler and the cast in his past movies from SNL his buddies kinda always made his movies go. I think David Spade and Chris Rock would have been good gamers by his side with Peter Dinklage.

Yeah this movie looks awful. I hate how hard the music tries to hype you up for the really weak lines and generic catch phrases that follow. It's pretty much the Inception pounding base just slightly tweaked.

Re: Pixels

bare in mind sandlers favorite director was not doing this but The Harry Potter 1 and 2 director. Columbus got lucky that the potter actors could carry and director it seems.

It amuses me greatly that everywhere I look on the internet I find the exact same reaction I had. "That sounds like a pretty interesting concept...wait, Adam Sandler's in it? Crud, it's probably going to suck."
