1985 The Goonies The Breakfast Club Weird Science Back to the Future Desperately Seeking Susan Ladyhawke The Boy Who Could Fly St. Elmo's Fire Better Off Dead My Science Project Explorers Real Genius and this is just me naming movies from 1985 that I own! Others I'm yet to own from that year that I must add to my collection: Pee Wee's Big Adventure Teen Wolf Cocoon Spies Like Us Brewster's Millions Day of the Dead Moving Violations Return of the Living Dead Anyway, you get the idea :) 1984 and 1986 come a very close and equal second. I won't name the movies from those years, or I'll start wanting list every movie from the 80s. Maybe I need to go find the favourite decade thread ;) |

I might have to add 1987 as a contender. I haven't seen as many films as for 1999 (or any other years from the late 90s-thru the present) but it has a bunch of movies that I love watching over-and-over. Here's my top 30:

Mine is 1999. There are 3 films released in 1999 which are in my top 10 and countless others in my top 100. Even at the risk of sounding controversial, my favorite Star Wars prequel was released in the year 1999.
