I liked the 80's. I couldn't keep it to ten and they're not in order.
1. The Princess Bride (1987) 2. Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987) 3. Parenthood (1989) 4. Grave of the Fireflies (1988). 5. Sophie's Choice (1982) 6. Raiders of the Lost Arc (1981) 7. Empire Strikes Back
Raiders of the lost Ark Aliens The Terminator Star Trek IV The Voyage Home E.T. The Extra Terrestrial Return of the Jedi Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan Back to the Future A Christmas Vacation |
There seems to be no mention of Evil Dead 2 (1987) or even he original (1981). A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) i think also deserves some recognition. I know this isnt a list of 10, but they would be in mine and i feel they are quite inspirational, almost seminal horrors, especially of the 80s.
|
Damn! I totally forgot about Evil Dead 2, and Tootsie... I love those films!
|
Hei Pyro, is that Hsu Chi?
|
Escape From New York, Aliens, The Breakfast Club
|
I can't post these in any order, too tough to decide....
Blade Runner (1982, Scott) Ran (1985, Kurosawa) Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981, Spielberg) Brazil (Gilliam, 1985) After Hours (Scorsese, 1985) Back to the Future (Zemekis, 1985) The Empire Strikes Back (1980, Kirshner) The Terminator (Cameron, 1984) Full Metal Jacket (Kubrick, 1987) Blue Velvet (Lynch, 1985) The Shining (Kubrick, 1980) yup, that is 11, couldn't cut any of those... |
oh yeah! how could i forget that one?
: After Hours (Scorsese, 1985) actually one of my faves. doesn't make me younger. |
Some 80's movies that may/may not have been mentioned:
Scarface Good Morning Vietnam The Color Purple Monty Python And The Meaning Of Life Wargames Das Boot Aliens E.T. Silverado The Lost Boys Dead Poets Society Excalibur |
Das Boot
  the rest, ok! ;) |
1. Blade Runner
2. The Terminator 3. Aliens 4. Withnail and I 5. Dangerous Liaisons 6. Maurice 7. Stand By Me 8. A Fish Called Wanda 9. Jean de Florette 10. The Princess Bride |
How come no-one else has listed Dangerous Liaisons? I just watched it again this evening, it is such a good film!
And Stand By Me kicks the backside of The Breakfast club ;) |
|
In no order.
The Lost Boys Full Metal Jacket Weird Science The Monster Squad Nightmare on Elm Street II The Evil Dead(even though it was made in the late 70's it was released in the 80's) The Evil Dead II Day of the Dead Wargames Fast Times at Ridgemont High. |
Going back to the 80's is too hard. Some movies transcend time, and in many times, hard to tell if it's from the 80's or 90's. Well, anyhow, here's my list:
Raging Bull When Harry Met Sally Blade Runner Raiders of the Lost Ark Alien Amadeus Brazil Platoon The Shining Once Upon a Time in America |
