Just kicked off the process for season 4 of Boardwalk Empire and Mary And Max (2009) to land on the mat. I doubt I'll get to see the latter any other way and y'all seem to think highly of it so might as well find out whether I agree .... should be my cup of tea in terms of humour from the trailer, not so sure about Mrs. C but we'll see.

Added Dog Day Afternoon (1975) to our poor postman's workload.

Chypmunk 08-25-15 10:52 AM

The Long Good Friday (1980) and Paths Of Glory (1957) on their way too. Time to give the poor postman a little reprieve for a while now I think.

Postman will hate me but The Descent (2005) was only a couple of quid. At least they are currently arriving in dribs and drabs which is what I normally hope for.

The Descent was pretty scary I thought. Love The Long Good Friday, sheer class :)

A few taking their sweet time to arrive, do hope they turn up in the next week or so. The Killing (1956) just added to the queue for the arrivals lounge (aka doormat).

Holy crap Chypmunk! I don't look at many of these but you've got me beat by a mile.

Lol cricket - I'm sure the collections of many people here would make ours look like nothing more than a single dot on a piece of A4 :D

Chypmunk 09-07-15 07:49 AM

A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) also now en route.

Snuck a restored, double-disc copy of M (1931) into the house via the postman's sack without him really noticing :)

Chypmunk 10-09-15 09:07 AM

To Catch A Thief (1955) now on it's way, wonder when Rakuten (formerly Play) will eventually realise I now only use their site after the rebranding when they chuck me a money-off invitation as they now charge me postage?

Chypmunk 10-15-15 05:24 PM

The marvellous One Flew ... (1975) also now en route.

Chypmunk 10-20-15 06:13 PM

The Gift (2000), Pacific Rim (2013), Sunshine (2007) and Event Horizon (1997) en route and a cheapo 4-pack just for the heck of it that includes The Vampire (1957), The Bat People (1974), The Screaming Skull (1958) & The Vampire Lovers (1970).

The four pack I'll probably watch and then donate to a mate who enjoys a bit of B-movie (or even D-movie) fare if he wants them.

The Guest (2014) and One, Two, Three (1961) also now on their way.

Chypmunk 10-30-15 09:39 AM

Finally cracked and ordered a copy of Frozen (2013) - I'm sure it'll be a Christmas staple on television at some point but despite my gruff, manly exterior I'm a big auld softie inside and kinda want to see it before it's a distant memory almost as soon as it's over .... could borrow the nieces copy but hey I do gotta maintain some street cred,

Chypmunk 11-04-15 05:44 PM

Good old Rakuten - another email with an offer of money off so Misery (1990) now being processed and sent to my mate in the UK for me to pick up and escort home early next month. Looks like the days I use that site are basically over now as postage used to be free, then with my last order it was £1 to mail to Ireland and now a mere 3 weeks later they wanted a ridiculous £2.99 - no way I'm paying that Jose when it probably costs around 70p in reality so a quick question to whether it would be ok and then a slight delivery address modification and it's free postage in the UK for this final purchase.

Also have A Bittersweet Life (2005) and 2046 (2004) - which will make me also get a copy of In The Mood For Love at some point - en route from elsewhere.

Edit: Original order of 2046 was cancelled by seller as it failed a quality inspection so that has been reordered with a different seller just now and thanks to the slight delay was actually 33p cheaper lol.

£2.99 postage is a bit steep - flippin' robbers!
I've got A Bittersweet Life, good film that.

Re: Mr. and Mrs. Chypmunk's joint stash of films

Managed to snag a cheap copy of a Pathé box set that includes Átame! (1989), Carne trémula (1997), Todo sobre mi madre (1999), Hable con ella (2002) and La mala educación (2004) - thought I might as well see how I get on with Señor Almodóvar as I'm woefully lacking in exposure to his films.

Re: Mr. and Mrs. Chypmunk's joint stash of films

Rashomon (1950) ordered.

Chypmunk 11-12-15 09:20 AM

Might be my final order before Xmas ... I don't like to order stuff when the post gets animal busy ... Akai tenshi [Red Angel] (1966), Anatomy Of A Murder (1959), Boardwalk Empire (season 5) ordered and because I needed to make the total up to £25+ for free shipping The Signal (2014) thrown in as well ... if it's as poor as some say at least I can think of it as a 'free' replacement case when needed :)
