Best horror film of the 2010s, bar none, no questions asked, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

It Follows and Hostel: Part 2 genuinely terrified me  (I rewatched them both recently)

It Follows is one of those films that shouldn't work, but totally does. Definitely some creepy moments and I'm so happy it's part of my collection. Haven't seen Hostel Part 2 though, but I'm not too fond of the first one, although I do think it's very scary how realistic the circumstance feels, it feels like something that could happen to you if you're not careful, which is terrifying in itself.

I've never though about it, but I guess looking at It Follows on paper would sound really bizarre
Meh the sequel isn't as good, but they ramp up the torture scenes and a couple of them leave me speechless every time!

Even though I've seen so many horror films, I've never gone too far into the torture porn. I guess the worst ones I've seen are some of the later Saw sequels. Although I do remember some really F'ed up images in other films. It Follows is so good though! I think an STD (sexually transmitted demon) would terrify all of us! :D

Generation gap and elder indifference added on top for good measure. Hmm, I haven't seen It Follows since the year it was released. I wonder if it'll hold up for me.

Absolutely though, the normalization of very outlandish visuals is always spine-chilling. How did you feel about the film overall?

Why don’t you two text each other and return each other’s texts. Problem solved. Thank me later.

The Ring does it for me. Oh, and by the way, Hereditary was really, really good.

I don't know whether the UK Blu-ray cover is used internationally. The goat cover was the one to go with I think.

You chose…wisely :).

Yes, I was being an awkward bugger there as there are several threads :p:

It's the one just after Dani8's post, with a few more after it.

I thought it was all right. Krampus is my preferred 2015 horror flick (which probably says something about how I lean into the genre, overall) and I’d take The Guest over It Follows as the better Maika Monroe starring John Carpenter throwback.

Gideon58 06-20-18 12:53 PM

There's been a lot of discussion here about whether or not it is actually a horror film but A Quiet Place scared the bejesus out of me.

Haven't seen Krampus, but it looks like a fun ride after all, also have see the Guest. but I do like Monroe and you can never go wrong with Carpenter.

You may be on to something here...

Agreed on Hereditary. Between you and me, I've only seen parts of The Ring, it's embarrassing to type out loud. Adding it on my queue.

I really loved the first half Covenant, the second half was entertaining, but wildly inconsistent. I did enjoy your take on it though, especially that bit about there being no real human reactions to the terror.
