I enjoy Alien: Res, what's everyone's beef?
|
most prized is prob band of brothers tin box set or scarface R1 box that comes with the money clip, movie cards and the original movie. im still hunting high n low for battle royale steel tin edition though!
|
My Pink Floyd The Wall DVD. I bought it right when it came out. It was the first DVD I ever purchased. I bought my first DVD player about 3 years later. I love the movie and I love Pink Floyd. Whenever I wanted to watch it, I had to go to someone elses house.

The Criterion version of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas http://www.dailyllama.com/news/2003/...terion_dvd.jpg |
This is one hell of a hard question. I'm not to sure actually. I'll report back with an answer though!
|
Meh. All of my films are prized to me. Pulp Fiction may be the most prized. I enjoy the film, the packaging, and the extras. It's a great DVD. Second one is probably American Beauty.
|
My SAW DVD's
|
It is nothing special i guess but it would have to be The Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl The Lost Disc.

It would have to be the Godfather Collection, its my favorite.
|
Has to be my Region 4 copy of Abel Gance's "Napoleon". I would have much more preferred the BFI version over the Coppola version but at least it is something of the film.

it would be all my extended versions of the lord of the rings trilogy
|
It's gotta be my expanding collection of Stephen King film's, I had all of them on video and it's proving to be a real pain to rebuild the collection on DVD!!
|
In second place would be Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition as a whole set. I like that the cover desing look like antiquated books. I'm still planning to watch all six discs back-to-back, but I can only get through tyhe first half hour and I begin to think of other things I could do in those 9+ hours.
In first place would have to Evil Dead: Book of the Dead. The amount of love and attention that went into designing the case deserves praise. If you watch the film you'll notice that the DVD case is an exact replica of the Book of the Dead in the film, even down to the archaic scribblings on the pages. This DVD is so precious to me it is the only one I WILL NOT let my friends go near. Films not bad either. If the question refers to what is my best film in my collection then I can't choose. I only buy films I consider great;) |

Mine would be Two Lane Blacktop. I hadn't seen it, knew that I would & the only version I could find was in a collector's tin with a little keychain car too. Like the movie muchly, so money well spent. Most expensive DVD I have bought too.
|
Mine is Freddy Vs Jason.
Why? Because I love this movie and I couldent live without it!! |
At the moment my most prized DVD is disc 3 of the boxed set of Season 2: House M.D. , but I also have to say Jackie Chan: Rumble In The Bronx will always be close to my heart :D Still love that crazy Mofo! :yup:
|
The discs!!!
Why? Because I'd get bored just watching the cases!!! |

Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
A few Christmases ago, my BIL bought me something off of my list! Jesus Christ Superstar 2000! It is my fav movie of all time because it is art that makes chills run up my back from start to finish.
In any area of production the art is evident. The lighting, costumes, acting, filming techniques and singing are all fantastic. This is one of the few movies I would watch over and over. |
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
Another country, because I love it
Duran duran Greatest, because I love them :) |
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
'Dawn of the Dead' (original) Dutch import, includes Romero's version (completely uncut) & Dario Argento's, plus 'Document of the Dead'.
'Yojimbo' & 'Sanjuro' - US import, loads of extras, and the box art is really nice. 'Lone Wolf & Cub' box set, containing all six films. 'From Beyond' - US import, completely uncut. 'Three Colours Blue/White/Red' trilogy - because there are all masterpieces. 'Cinema Paradiso' - same reason as above. all my box sets including: - Trilogies 'Star Wars' 'Die Hard' (who needs number 4) 'El Mariachi' 'Blade' 'Evil Dead' 'Back to the Future' 'Indiana Jones' 'Final Destination' (and yes I think they're all great) Leone's 'Dollars' films TV complete 'Red Dwarf' 'Spaced' 1&2 'Peep Show' 1-5 and loads more. |
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
Of course, my most prized possession just has to be:
http://www.acquiremag.com/2007/07/26...ltimatedvd.jpg Nothing in my collection comes close to this gem. As to why, and I don't think I need to explain to you folks, is that this is one of my favorite films of all time, which I have seen well over 100 times and counting. I keep it on my coffee table. Coming in at a VERY close 2nd, would be my collection of BSG seasons and extras. I hold this show in almost as high regard as I do Blade Runner; I have watched the entire series 4 times and counting. http://www.tvshowsondvd.net/graphics...SG-Season1.jpghttp://www.tskelly.com/wordpress/wp-...over-small.jpg |
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
^ I still need to get one of those. Damn.
Anyway, if I have to prize any item, it's going to be one of my imported DVDs (or rather, DVDs I picked up outside of Australia). Out of all the import DVDs I own, the one I prize the most is going to be Slacker. It's the first Criterion Collection DVD I ever bought and is currently one of the two that I own (the other being Dazed and Confused). It even marks a personal accomplishment - the first DVD I ever bought during my trip to America last December (as I recall, within the first 24 hours there too). Also, since Slacker has never been released in Australia, this makes me one of the few people (if not the only one) to own and have seen Slacker in this country. Not to mention the fact that it's a pretty decent movie, too. http://www.sfgate.com/blogs/images/s...14_slacker.JPG |
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
I'd say my whole collection. There's nothing special in it, but they're mine. I'm going to exclude The Ice Harvest though.
|
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
I agree my whole collection means so much to me but I think my prized possesion must be my Rambo Collection DVD boxset. Possibly all my Scrubs series DVDs or my American Dad - Family Guy series DVDs.
|
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
My Alien Vs Predator box set. All the movies bar Requiem but that wasn't good anyways.
|
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
I have to say that my Blackadder Adder collection boxset is one of my favs, But my little sister in law managed to ruin 3 out of the 4 disks so I need to replase it. Which is always nice to do when you paid £60 for it in the first place.
|
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
"Children of Men"
The first 5 seasons of "The West Wing" |

Not my fav. movie of all time, but one of them. Amazing film, and for some reason it just feels really, really good to have it on DVD. I didn't really see it in stores that often either until after I Am Legend came out. |

Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
Hmm, I have to say my original Buffy & Angel DVD Collection, because the packaging I have is the UK Album styled ones, and they don't do that style anymore, so I guard them with my life.

I remember when that Oldboy DVD came out at suncoast - I had no clue what the movie even was back then.
|
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
Most prized by me? Probably either the three seasons of "Lost" (which I can see myself rewatching many times in the future) or the Battlestar Galactica seasons. More of the same gushy feeling of rewatchable goodness.
Plus, the DVD of the one season of the Saturday morning "Weird Al Show." I'm glad to have it all in one place in a good format. I'd been videotaping them at the time they were on, but to have them in DVD form minus commercials and with other goodies is just very cool. |
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
The LOTR trilogy, probably. We've got about four copies of each movie.
|
Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?

Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and why?
Friday the 13th box set. It has 1 to 8 and most of the movies that are in the box set are realy hard to find with out buying the box set. eg. if you live in Australia, try finding part 7,6 or 5 on DVD.
|

When this thread popped up in the 'following' bit in my profile I wondered what DVD I had originally picked to warrant inclusion and was a bit disappointed to find that my only contributions were some anal wittering about Withnail & I. :( Recently, I'm proud of my Naked Criterion Edition: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...DFVSXgHG_l.jpg 'Cos it's been so shoddily treated on DVD over here. And my Deadwood box set, because it's just so lovely to look at, hold and smell: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b6...l/PIC_0041.jpg Couldn't find a decent pic online so this out of focus Tatty original will have to do. |

Re: What's currently the most prized item in your DVD collection and w
Since almost all of them are not rare or anything like that, I'd pick The Call of Cthulhu, a movie I saw in our local indie venue. It's a sound-era silent, black and white film, made on a shoestring budget by the HP Lovecraft Historical Society. As such, it's faithful to the Lovecraft story. The silent, monochrome aspect of it seems exactly right for the time period of both the story and Lovecraft. And, to add to its virtues, it's filmed in "Mythoscope", whatever that means and has a very dramatic music soundtrack. Stop-motion animation adds to the overall effect of this very deliberate anachronism.
I saw the movie on the big screen, loved it and bought a copy on the way out of the door. It won several indie film awards. I also have another movie they did, The Whisperer in Darkness, but Cthulhu is my favorite. |

This is selling for a whopping $162 on Amazon. Funnily enough, I lent it to someone I lost touch with a long time ago and only got it back recently. What a relief they didn't look up how much it's worth, huh? :D https://i.imgur.com/jQvR3Ak.jpg There's also this 2002 release, which I'm pretty sure I bought at Kroger for less than $15, but is now priced at $75! Does that mean I've considered parting with it? https://i.imgur.com/Im8vSEE.jpg |

I have a Plain Archive release of Denis Villeneuve's 'Incendies', that is unopened and still in the shrink wrap. I'm too scared to open it. Full slip case and exclusive artwork. It's now out of print and they go for a chunk on eBay I think.
