I've not seen either of those movies. They looked terrible regardless of casting.

A film called 'Friends with Benefits' that stars Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, I don't know how anyone can go into it and not expect exactly what it is, and for what it is, it's fine ;)

He wasn't awful in Bad Teacher, the film was just awful overall.

I dislike Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, Shannen Doherty, Tyler Perry, Justin Timberlake, Nicolas Cage.

There are many more but the list would be very long.

I also think that singers or anyone who is in the music industry should NOT act in movies. They're all just terrible actors who think they can do so just because they're famous with their music.

Really irritating.

Jim Carrey, Steve Martin and Pee Wee Herman!

Hit Girl 07-22-13 04:09 AM

Tom Cruise
Keanu Reeves
Sandra Bullock
Nicole Kidman

FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS was a remake of the superior NO STRINGS ATTACHED.

Re: Actors You Avoid At All Costs

I don't think it was a remake. I think it was one of those times when Hollywood made two similar films at around the same time, Volcano/Dante's Peak or Armageddon/Deep Impact.

I don't avoid actors, I avoid directors.

I used to avoid Tom Cruise, until I saw him in films like Eyes Wide Shut and Minority Report. Needless to say, I don't avoid him anymore.

Disliking this guy used to be like a trend, I swear. Maybe it still is.

Nausicaä 07-23-13 06:45 PM

Re: Actors You Avoid At All Costs

^ It still is. A lot of people jump on the Tom Cruise hate band wagon mostly because of the scientology thing.

Hit Girl 07-24-13 02:48 AM

Don't follow trends, don't care what people's beliefs are - just don't like Tom Cruise as an actor. I find him very distracting in a film and to me he always seems to be playing 'Tom Cruise'.

Deadite 07-24-13 03:42 AM

O.J. Simpson

Except for the Naked Guns. I like the irony.

I will never again watch a movie that has Jonah Hill or Shia Labeouf in it. I refuse.

The Duchess 07-24-13 06:34 AM

Arnold Schwartzenegger definitely!

Why is that? I was thinking during Moneyball that he has a really big future as a character actor. He's the new Ned Beatty :)

I understand with LaBeouf but I don't mind him. He was ok in Lawless.

Personally there are no actors I avoid. There are some that may give me a negative view of a movie but if that is outweighed by other factors I'll still check it out.

Tom Cruise is one of those. Don't really have anything against him but is too often in bad movies. Compare him to other superstars like Brad Pitt or George Clooney. Cruise has done more terrible films in the last 10 years than they have done in their whole careers combined.

Big stars have their choice of scripts - you should be able to rely on them not to make trash. With Cruise you can't rely on that IMO.

Havent seen either of these but I did think Justin Timberlakes performance in Alpha Dog was pretty damn good.

Never like Matthew McConnaughy but he was pretty damn good in Killer Joe.

It's part of the McConnaugh-sance (Mud, Killer Joe, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Paperboy, Magic Mike, Bernie)

Can't stand Gwyneth Paltrow...it blows my mind that this woman actually has an Oscar on her mantle while her mother, who is one hundred times the actress she is, has never even been NOMINATED for an Oscar.

Really? There hasn't been a single Tom Hanks movie that you ever liked? Not one?

Couldn't disagree more regarding Goldie Hawn...I find her completely watchable most of the time. I wish she and Kurt would make a comeback.

Who the heck dislikes Tom Hanks? It's unnatural.

LP Quagmire 07-24-13 04:41 PM

Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson have hindered my enjoyment of some otherwise fine films (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and MY WEEK WITH MARILYN, to name two). Did not know Lawrence when I went to see the X-MEN movie, but we're supposed to believe she's the same character played by Rebecca Romijn? That's asking a lot! As for Watson, she was far too contemporary a face to be believable in a period piece like MY WEEK WITH MARILYN.

Re: Actors You Avoid At All Costs

You should check out Winters Bone. I think that will make you a fan of Lawrence, and show that she has some solid acting talent. Btw Boardwalk Empire is such an awesome show, Richard Harrow is too boss.

What have you got against Morgan Freeman? I don't think I have ever read a single negative word written about Freeman on a message board before.

To put it kindly, Eastwood was miscast in PAINT YOUR WAGON.

I'll second David Spade...this guy hasn't done anything remotely funny since "The Hollywood Minute" on SNL.

Big second to Katherine Heigl...hated her on GREY'S ANATOMY and have hated every single movie performance of hers that I have seen.

Leonardo DiCaprio
With the exception of very few movies, he sucks.
Of all the actors to be named here, Leo??? He is the best of this generation by a long shot.

Normally i go for the plot rather than who is acting. But yeah, i do try to avoid Cage! Do not like him.

Kutcher is another i think someone mentioned earlier. But his new movie Jobs is coming up. Will go watch it, just for Steve Jobs!

I was curious as to what other Heath Ledger film you saw but, without that knowledge, I would suggest that you checkout BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, MONSTER'S BALL, and CANDY.

Thank you for mentioning singers who try to get into acting...Beyonce tops the list for me...the woman can sing and the camera loves her but she cannot act to save her life.
