Just realised a couple of errors with my update. Somehow I missed The Dark Knight Rises which was one of the B&M purchases. And when I put Sweet Sixteen I actually meant Sixteen Candles.

Behind the Candelabra (I really must get round to seeing this) Jack Reacher (I'm going to get around to this, so I've left it on.) Sucker Punch (Again, this is something I might end up seeing) Middleman, The complete series (I've heard some good things about this) I'd certainly recommend giving Jack Reacher a watch someday. I wasn't actually that interested in seeing it, just ordered to make up the numbers in an offer. But I was really pleasantly surprised. From the trailer and Cruise's involvement I was expecting quite a standard action flick but found it to be quite a gritty, hard boiled film. It also felt quite old-fashioned, not relying on big CGI-aided set-pieces like so many action flicks these days. Would probably give it around a 4- but a large degree of that may be down to the surprise factor, and on repeat viewing it may drop. And Sucker Punch is one of those I probably wouldn't have bought normally but was swayed by the price. I think it's one of those that I could either love for its ridiculousness or absolutely hate. And Middleman I watched back when it was on and just found it to be an absolute delight. It's really weird and feels like the spiritual descendant of the campy 60s Batman show but great fun from what I remember |

I like these:
Air Force One Basic Instinct Bodyguard, The Contact Django Unchained Fallen Hard Rain (only watched the first twenty minutes, but it looks like the kind of '90's action I love) Identity Jack Reacher Life of Pi Punisher (1989) (I've only watced half of it, but it's kind of fun '80's trash) Ricochet (I just bought this, it looks interesting) Sherlock Holmes - Game of Shadows Star Wars I - The Phantom Menace Star Wars II - Attack of the Clones Star Wars III - Revenge of the Sith There's also a couple in there I am interested in seeing. |

What is it about Behind the Candelabra that has you interested? I'm always curious/surprised when you're interested in a 'new' film. :D

Honeykid, you did not respond to me about Dolores Van Cartier.

Why would I do that?

I love Cats & Dogs. Actually, I really like Cats & Dogs. I love Mr. Tinkles.

^ Whoever doesn't like that film has no heart. :nope:

Instead of waiting months and doing big massive updates here's a shorter one.
21 Jump Street Batman: Dark Knight Returns part 1 Batman: Dark Knight Returns part 2 Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty C.H.U.D. Emperor's New Groove Final Destination 1 - 3 set Mud Poltergeist Scream 2 Scream 3 Wraith, The Breaking Bad season 1 Psych season 7 White Collar season 4 21 Jump Street wasn't one that got my attention all that much but heard a lot of good stuff about it, including from people who like me haven't been impressed by a whole lot of recent comedies. Saw it for a couple of pound and decided to try it. The two Batman films because of late I watched all the Batman animated films but hadn't seen them yet. Cats & Dogs 2 because I got put in the mood after the discussion. :D The Final Destination and Scream films because around Halloween I watched the first films of both and enjoyed them (especially Final Destination_ Psych and White Collar are two of my absolute favourite shows right now but here in the UK we're way behind so the last 2/3 years I've just been getting them on DVD. And Breaking Bad I've never seen but have been meaning to considering all the praise it gets. |

21 Jump Street Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Final Destination 1 - 3 set Poltergeist Scream 2 Breaking Bad season 1 White Collar season 4 I've also heard good things about 21 Jump Street, so I wouldn't mind checking it out. I like the Final Destination series, but it's really on the first that's actually good. I know others disagree and say the second is better, but they're wrong. :D I didn't include Scream 3 because I've only seen it once or twice and I didn't really care much for it. I can barely remember it. I liked the first season of Breaking Bad, but then it was moved and I didn't know until 8 episodes into season 2 so I left it. I might go back and catch it one day but, while I liked the first, I never really looked forward to each episode. |
Had completely forgotten to keep this updated. In fact it's been nearly 14 months since I last updated it. In which time I've amassed this vast amount of additions.

Re: JayDee's DVD Collection
An interesting way of listing all your movies. There are so many ways to categorise. That is way I never start. Can t decide which one to use. I would want to do several categories for one movie.

Last time I fell massively behind so I'll try and get back to more frequent updates. So here's what I've picked up or received at birthday since last time.
22 Jump Street Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues Astro Boy Batman – Assault on Arkham Blindsight Bobby Fischer Against the World Bronson Cold in July Dallas Buyers Club Edge of Tomorrow Funny Girl Gravity Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Howard the Duck Joe's Apartment Men in Black 3 Mumford Murder by Death Next Goal Wins Nightcrawler Osmosis Jones Predestination Screamers Thor: The Dark World Tremors 2, 3 and 4 Two Faces of January Better off Ted season 1 Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 1 Futurama volume 7 Human Target season 1 Miami Vice season 3 Pushing Daisies season 1 Sherlock series 2 Lee Mack – Hit the Road Mack Jason Manford- Third World Problems |
Re: JayDee's DVD Collection
wow, impressive collection... how many do you have?
|
Now that's sad. I'm sad now, JD. :( Of the films I've seen in that latest batch there's nothing there I'd really care for (maybe Gravity just to see it in 2D which I think I'll prefer) and of the ones I've not seen (which is most of them) I don't think there's anything that I'd care to see. Maybe the Jump Street sequel, but only if I find the first one really funny. Which is unlikely, let's face it. Even the tv and comedy isn't really my thing, though I like Jason Manford so I'd happily watch that.

So there are loads of blind buys there, many of which I may not like myself. Blindsight and Bobby Fischer sound like two possibly interesting documentaries. Bronson I got because I'm becoming a bit of a Tom Hardy fan. Howard the Duck I've just got a sick curiousity to see how awful it actually is. Joe's Apartment got me intrigued with dancing and singing cockroaches. Screamers because it looked fun and trashy and had Peter Weller in the lead role. I've never seen any of the Tremors sequels despite loving the first one. I recently rewatched it and it inspired me to finally track down the sequels. Two Faces of January I picked up because of the connection to The Talented Mr Ripley which I really liked; they're adapted from work by the same author. And then there are some, like Astro Boy and Osmosis Jones, that are more geared towards giving my nieces something to watch when they come over. Even some of the TV shows are blind buys, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Pushing Daisies. |
Re: JayDee's DVD Collection
Actually I really liked Pushing Daisies. I don't know why I overlooked that before. I also have a copy of Howard The Duck around here, but I've not seen it yet. I watched it when it came out and thought it was really boring. Who knows, maybe I'll really like it now?
|
Re: JayDee's DVD Collection
Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Pushing Daisies are good shows :)
|
Re: JayDee's DVD Collection
I saw the first couple of episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, but I didn't see the point in staying with it. Not as bad as Marry Me though. That was really terrible.
