Re: Top Ten movies of the '80s
1. Ghostbusters
2. Raiders Of The Lost Ark 3. Back To The Future 4. Beetlejuice 5. Lethal Weapon 6. Batman 7. The Breakfast Club 8. Weird Science 9. Ferris bueller's Day Off 10. The Burbs |
My Faves:
....and how do we know that this werewolf is an American? Because he wants to be a Pepper. And wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too? 9. The Verdict (1982) Paul Newman in an amazing court case drama, depicting a fight-the-system story of a man seeking justice against the advice of his closest colleague/partner, the mega-structure of the malpractice status quo, the will of a high priced large legal-firm, his own clients' wishes, and most of all, against his own inner demons. 8. Raging Bull (1980) Okay, seriously, do I really need to explain this one? 7. Ran (1985) The sweeping Shakespearian epic from the visonary dream of Akira Kurosawa. 6. The Abyss (1989) "Close Encounters Of The Under-Water Kind". Or maybe even "The Day The Ocean Stood Still". 5. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) A moving picture showing that when it comes to a deep longing for love in the form of kindness & friendship, we humans are not alone. And all we have to do to get it, even on a universally galactic level, is to just "be.... good". 4. The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Okay, seriously, do I really need to explain this one? 3. Gandhi (1982) The British Empire, humbled via one man & the power of peaceful resistance. Nuff said. 2. Indiana Jones & The Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) Best. Action. Adventure. Movie. Ever. 1. Aliens (1986) In this sequel to the non-plural installment of the series, Ripley is back. And this time around, she arms herself with some big guns & with an even bigger attitude of instead of squaring off against just one xenomorph, she's taking on a whole hive full of them. And their momma too. |

There are so many great movies from what I believe is the best era in film to even choose from.
1. Some Kind Of Wonderful(My Favorite Movie) 2. Dead Poets Society (Robin Williams & Ethan Hawke are brilliant) 3. The Outsiders( what a compilation of great actors for this movie) 4. The Breakfast Club (the brilliant mind of the late John Hughes) 5. Can't Buy Me Love ( this movie may seem silly, but actually Patrick Dempsey isn't bad at all) 6. Pretty In Pink ( Molly Ringwald was great, but Jon Cryer steals the show in this one) 7. Sixteen Candles (another brilliant performance by Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall was great to.) 8. St. Elmos Fire: (another great ensemble of actors and actresses) 9. Taps: (Timothy Hutton, Sean Penn, and Tom Cruise give a great performance) 10. The Princess Bride: (A Classic for all ages) 8. |

There are so many great movies from the 80s, Heavy Metal is up there. Your list is pretty awesome. Have you ever seen Invasion U.S.A.? If Red Dawn is your favorite you have to have some appreciation for Invasion U.S.A.

Let's see, among my top 10 of the 1980's there are the 4 movies Miyazaki made:
- Nausicaa http://www.criticker.com/img/films/posters/Nausicaa.jpg - Castle in the Sky http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...in_the_Sky.jpg - My Neighbor Totoro http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...bor_Totoro.jpg - Kiki's Delivery Service http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...ry_Service.jpg And also Takahata's: - Grave of the Fireflies http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p..._Fireflies.jpg Also another Ghibli's animation. Plus, I would also include the following "normal" movies: - Blade Runner (Scott) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...ade_Runner.jpg - Ran (Kurosawa) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/posters/Ran.jpg - The Terminator (Cameron) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...Terminator.jpg - Aliens (Cameron) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/posters/Aliens.jpg - Back to the Future (Zemeckis) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...the_Future.jpg Besides these, I might extent my top 10 to a top 20 and include: - Once Upon a Time in America (Leone) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...me_in_1984.jpg - Road Warrior (Miller) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p.../Mad_Max_2.jpg - Fanny and Alexander (Bergman) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p..._Alexander.jpg - The Shining (Kubrick) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...he_Shining.jpg - Full Metal Jacket (Kubrick) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...tal_Jacket.jpg - The Empire Strikes Back (Kershner) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p..._Episode_V.jpg - Nostalghia (Tarkovsky) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...Nostalghia.jpg - Blue Velvet (Lynch) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...lue_Velvet.jpg - The Elephant Man (Lynch) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...ephant_Man.jpg - First Blood (Stallone) http://www.criticker.com/img/films/p...irst_Blood.jpg |
