Unfortunately, like too many mediocre horror movies The Grey also fails to develop a decent cast to care about, which is a problem considering how much the film actually emphasises psychological drama over high-adrenaline thrills.

It is a gritty and at times brutal film that uses its environment and the wolves to create a thrilling horror aspect, the film has us gripped throughout and we can really feel the characters dire situation in this film.

The Grey is a B-movie, of sorts. One of those releases that goes straight-to-video. But does that make it a bad movie, necessarily? Not at all. For what it’s worth, it’s undeniably silly and suspenseful at the same time..
