After his work on big budget films like Spiderman, it seemed like an easy choice for Raimi to be the one behind Oz and for the most part, it works.

My expectations for this film were not super high, I certainly would never expect it to live up to the original which is one of the greatest films of all time.

Frank Baum, Oz the Great and Powerful is a colorful and elaborate dramatic fantasy that is, in effect, a prequel to the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz, which centers around the title character and how he came to Oz, an idea that doesn't always work and often reminds us of how timeless the 1939 film ....
