Island of Lost Souls is a classic that would latter be remade as The Island of Dr Moreau (1977) and The Island of Dr Moreau (1996).

I found this a gross note to end on, as it shows a real lack of empathy for the suffering of those on the island, whose only crime was being the victim of a man willing to torture them in the name of "science".
