Storywise The Bad News Bears is standard sports movie where a loser coach turns loser kids into a proper team and learns to be a better person in the process.

The film was followed by two sequels The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training and The Bad News Bears Go to Japan, but neither featured Matthau or O'Neal.
