I just saw this. Must have gotten buried in all my Survivor crap.

I guess I need to do that, but in the mean time you could always read my top 120 movie thread that I never finished.

That's a great list. There's a couple of authors I haven't heard of and some I want to read more of. I do reading challenges all the time, so I might just make that list my next one. I've read a few of them, like Shooting Star and Spiderweb. I've read a lot of Robert Bloch. He influenced two of my favorite writers, so naturally I like him a lot too.

Speaking of which, have you read The Talisman? One of my all time favorite books. I have a tattered paperback copy that I used to carry everywhere on my travels. One of my prized possessions.

I've never read Terry McMillan. I don't know if she would be edgy or "heavy" enough for me. I do love
Toni Morrison though. I guess my inner black female is just a bit angier than yours.

I'm a huge Stephen King fan and many moons ago I read his entry for Hard Case Crime (The Colorado Kid, it was one of the first). The idea was to get hard boiled writers to submit pulp noir stories like the Chandlers, Hammetts, Spillanes etc of the past (some of those guys submitted works for this project) . The King book was good but some of the others have been better. You can check the list HERE. I came across Christa Faust on this list and loved Money Shot. Female writers huh? I really like Janet Evanovich though she can be repetitive. Her books are a hoot though (and sort of hard boiled light). I read all of Terry McMillan's books one year... got totally in touch with my inner black female!
