So as anyone who has read a couple of the browser threads on here has found out, I am a staunch supporter of Firefox. I think it is a fantastic browser and that everyone should use it, but that's just me. Anyways, I thought I'd put up some little tidbits that I think will make your alliance in the browser wars that much easier. However, do note that these are just my personal preferences, but I've had a few people ask me about them so I thought I'd put up a guide of sorts.
First, if you don't have Firefox (and want to use it) just head on over to www.getfirefox.com, there is a link for the download of the latest version in the top right corner.
Next up, the tweaks that I use:
1. Enter in "about:config" into the address bar.
2. Navigate to browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs and double click on it so it = true
3. Navigate to network.http.pipelining and double click on it so it = true
4. Navigate to network.http.pipelining.maxrequests double click on it and change it from 4 to 100
5. Navigate to network.dns.disableIPv6 double click on it so it = true
I can't exactly explain what all of these things do, but they alter the way in which Firefox loads a page in such a way that it loads everything faster. It may not seem as such initially, as it looks like the site hesitates before it loads, but then it should load everthing else simultaneously.
But my favorite Firefox tweaks, the extensions:
BugMeNot (http://roachfiend.com/archives/2005/02/07/bugmenot/)
BugMeNot is an extension that will allow you, if you so choose, to bypass registration for hundreds and hundreds of sites that require registration before viewing. Simply install the extension (instructions are on the site) and right click in the login section of said website, BugMeNot will search its database for a login that has been submitted by a user for this very purpose. Simple as that.
ForecastFox (http://forecastfox.mozdev.org/installation.html)
Possibly my favorite extension. Install it, set it up (fairly simple, just input your cities code from the list it provides) and imbeded in your browser, at a location of your choosing, will be the current weather conditions around you and for the next three days. I personally like this placed in the right of the status-bar:

There are some more things you can customize for it as well. I personally have the Alert Slider turned off (I found it kind of annoying). Great little extension.
Add Blocker (http://adblock.mozdev.org/installation.html):
Does exactly what you would expect it to. I actually have this disabled right now, as a majority of the sites I visit are smaller, personal sites (such as MoFo) that do bank on ads and I think they deserve it, but it can alway sbe turned back on with the click of a button. If you install it, you should also import this list of ads:
1. Save this (http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/2005-02-22a.txt) to your computer as a .txt file
2. Import it into AdBlock by going into your AdBlock preferences, then AdBlock options and import filter.
Do that and you'll never see an ad again, unless you disable Adblock.
That's it for now. :)
