View Full Version : Who is Holden Pike?
My first guess was Bill Gates due to the size of his movie/book collection, his location, and his intellect... Until he reminded me I had a brainfart and that Microsoft was in Seattle, not Portland.
After watching the TV show House this evening and reading his last post about local bookstores I've decided he's a doctor somewhere and the character of House is based on Holden. Anyone else have any ideas? :)

Just to clarify so people don't take this the wrong way... This isn't meant as a bash Holden thread... Without sounding like I have a man-crush, he's probably the most interesting person I've come across and I was curious how other people pictured him is all.

Holden is brilliant, hilarious, tall, helpful, sweet, cantankerous, persnickety, handsome, boyish, impish, talented, passionate, getting irritated with this list, about to give me bad rep, laughing... and his mama dresses him funny.

Holden Pike
I have pondered who this fellow (?) is for a while now, 1st from his reputation as a mean sumabitch on here. After this i began to find out he has actually seen every film ever made probably and quite frankly i am in awe.
As a Mo-Fo I guess his name is a mix of William Holden who played Pike Bishop in The Wild Bunch (Sam Peckinpah, 1969) Quite frankly, i dont think this forum would be the same without him. Whether it's for his sarcasm and put downs or un-measurable knowledge. So....
all hail Holden
he'll prob neg rep me for this

Holden is a scientist...so back off man! I once gave him a high five...and like that, he was gone! He is the only Mofo with a huge midichlorian count. I give mad props to the posse he rolls with.
Though myth has it, that he is a bear stuck in the city.

Even though I've only been here a week, I believe I have a pretty good idea about who Holden Pike is. I say he's a 49 year old English teacher from Portland. He must have one of those handlebar mustaches and dark brown eyes, with a little tooth decay to boot. His turn-ons include long walks on the beach and gazing at sunsets. His major pet peeve: Annoying forum members making completely random guesses about his personality and appearance...

What about a tweed jacket with patches on the elbows and his pipe? Kind of like Tim Robbins in Anchorman.

The best way to draw a live Holdenas Pickius out into the open is to criticise a venerated film by, say, Martin Scorsese or Sam Peckinpah.
Going to the Marty thread and saying something like "Raging Bull would have been much better if it had been filmed in colour and if Raging had fought Apollo Creed and Mr T!" might be enough.
Arm yourself with some text-speak and a raincoat but be patient, it's not that the Pickius has mellowed in recent years...he's just become more selective. ;)
We had a meeting and the motion to resurrect carried. Obviously.
