I always like christmas carols like;

1) Silent Night
2) Joy to the world
3) White Christmas
4) Jingle bells

They might seem a bit childish but they make me remember christmas as a kid and didn't they always seem so much more fun then?

Isn't there a song where a grandma gets run down by a horse or something?

Isn't there a song where a grandma gets run down by a horse or something?

It was a reindeer... :D

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.
She'd been drinking too much eggnog,
and we begged her not to go.
But she forgot her medication, and she
staggered out the door into the snow.
When we found her Christmas morning,
at the scene of the attack,
she had hoof-prints on her forehead,
and incriminating Claus marks on her back.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.

Now we're all so proud of grandpa,
He's been taking this so well.
See him in there watching football,
drinking root beer and
playing cards with Cousin Mel.
It's not Christmas without Grandma,
All the family's dressed in black
and we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts,
or send them back?
Send them back!!

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.

Now the goose is on the table
and the pudding made of fig
and the blue and silver candles
that would just have matched
the hair on grandma's wig.
I've warned all my
friends and neighbors
better watch out for yourselves,
they should never give a license
to a man who drives a sleigh
and plays with elves.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
but as for me and grandpa we believe.

Have no idea who sings the thing... :p

The Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth - Bing and Bowie
O Holy Night - by anyone who doesn't Moriah it up

There are a couple that I really like that haven't been recorded, it seems.
One is "My Sheep May Safely Graze"

So my sheep may safely graze
I'd climb the highest hill
and keep a watch out for the fox
and for the howling wolf
I've made a friend out of the wind
and got to know the storm
so even in the winter time
my sheep may safely graze.

All good shepherds watch their flocks
to the lowest lamb
So that they may safely graze
and never come to harm.
Guarded from the hunter's horn
shielded from the sun.
All my sheep may safely graze
in far fields or at home.

Calling 'come sheep come,
'I'll count you one by one.'
One for John and one for Jacob
One for Job and one for
the Child who's born this morning
in Bethlehem.

Last night there were soldiers
on the road below the town
and creatures in the heavens
with wings of shiny gold.
One of them came close to me
saying, "do not be afraid:
the Child of God was born this morn.
Your sheep may safely graze."

Calling 'come sheep come,
'I'll count you one by one.'
One for John and one for Jacob
One for Job and one for
the Child who's born this morning
in Bethlehem.

I can't think about what it would be like to be out in a field at night and see all that without getting choked up.

Carol of the Bells is my favorite. In fact it almost tops as my most favorite song, almost.

Hark! how the bells
Sweet silver bells
All seem to say,
"Throw oars away."
Christmas is here
Bringing good cheer
To young and old
Meek and the bold

Ding, dong, ding, dong
That is their song
With joyful ring
All caroling
One seems to hear
Words of good cheer
From ev'rywhere
Filling the air

O how happy are their tones
Gaily they ring
While people sing
Songs of good cheer
Christmas is here
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas
Merry, merry, merry, merry Christmas

On, on they send
On without end
Their joyful tone
To ev'ry home

My high school has an excellant chamber choir, and part of their holiday repretoire this year is Carol of the Bells. I've heard them sing it twice all already and it's absolutely gorgeous. The way it is arranged makes it a wonderful acapella (sp?) piece. I guess I might be a bit biased since I htink I am friends with at least half of the chamber choir, but if I can get a recording of them I will.

No offense WHATSOEVER, but that song, to my ears, is Insanity in 3/6 time.
I think it reminds me of the poem by Poe about the "bells, bells, bells, bells".

Tis' ok, it drives my mom insane as well. Speaking of Poes poem Silver Bells, my brother goes to a musical arts high school and their choir performed that last night. I almost burst out laughing during the song because the whole wntire poem is about death and they were all singing it with smiles and their faces. Even the music was happy, quite a paradox indeed.

And my favorite X-mas song would be

The Heretics Christmas Carol

God rest ye merry Pagan folk,
Let nothing you dismay.
Remember there's no evidence
There was a Christmas Day.
When Christ was born is just not known,
No matter what they say.
Glad tidings of logic & fact;
Logic & fact.
Glad tidings of logic & fact.

There was no star of Bethlehem;
There was no angel song.
There could have been no Wise Men
For the journey was too long.
The stories in the Bible
Are historically wrong.

Glad tidings of logic & fact;
Logic & fact.
Glad tidings of logic & fact.

Much of your Christmas customs
Come from Persia and from Greece,
From solstice celebrations
Of the ancient Middle East.
We know this so-called "Holy Day"
Is but a Pagan feast

Glad tidings of logic & fact;
Logic & fact
Glad tidings of logic & fact.

I just heard on the radio...and I can't believe I forgot...
The Twelve Days of Christmas.

I use to love singing this with the kids when they were smaller and looking through Anne Geddes' Twelve Days of Christmas photo book. The babies were so cute. Imagine...they're embarassed to even look at it now with my 'Ooooing' and 'Aweing'. "Mom!~"

Fairytale of New York is the first one I thought of, but my favorite is probably Santa Dog '72, by The Residents:

Santa Dog's a Jesus Fetus
Santa Dog's a Jesus Fetus
Santa Dog's a Jesus Fetus
Has no presents,
Has no presence
In the future...
...In the future

A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness and of sleeves
A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness and of sleeves
A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness and of sleeves
A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness and of sleeves
A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness and of sleeves

A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness severed sleeves
Bing, Bing, Bing, Bong, Bong, Bong, Snowness severed sleeves

A fleeting and a greeting scene of effervescent eves
Bing, Bing, Bing, Bong, Bong, Bong, Effervescent eves

Greeting and a meeting team of hoarse and frosty words
Bing, Bing, Bing, Bong, Bong, Bong, Hoarse and frosty words

A greeting and a cheating team and other noxious herbs
Bing, Bing, Bing, Bong, Bong, Bong, Other noxious herbs

A fleeting and a sleeting scene of snowness and of sleeves
