I'm not hip.
Haven't been since like 1988.
So I frequently miss things on TV when everyone else is watching.
Thanks to the wonder of DVDs, I can catch up on the stuff that survives the scrutiny of the hip people - or that someone feels passionate enough about to produce on DVD.
Lately, I've seen some awesome stuff:
Six Feet Under, the whole series
Homicide: Life On The Streets, season 1
The Office (brit-com, hilarious)
The Tick, The Entire Series
Sports Night - watched the first 6 episodes last night
Is anyone else getting in on these late, or finding other good stuff?

I missed like the whole first season of 24. I kinda felt like I was too late to start in the middle so I didn't watch any of it. Now that it's on DVD, I'm all over it. I like watching old X-Files episodes. I just bought Aqua Teen Hunger Force on DVD. It's a smart cartoon on Adult Swim/Cartoon Network.
Sammy, thank god for DVDS too. Because i haven't got HBO.
Anyways, what i'm going rent/borrow soon is
"Alias" - Season 2
"Curb Your Enthusiasm" - Season 2
"Freaks and Geeks" - Complete series
Law & Order
"Monk" Seasons 1 & 2
Quantum Leap Season 1
"Queer as Folk" Seasons 1, 2, & 3
Seinfeld Seasons 1, 2, & 3
The Sopranos Seasons 1, 2, 3, & 4
Tru Calling Season 1
Will & Grace Seasons 1, 2, & 3
X-Files Series
Six Feet Under Season 2
Dead Like Me Season 2 [When ever it comes out of course]
I really enjoyed "Alias" first season, so i'm going purchase it soon. I can't wait until i get my hands on the second season.

I rarely watch TV thesedays, the only series on at the moment that I try not to miss is The Fight on BBC2 (nicely done historic boxing docs).
Since Father Ted finished not a lot has tickled my fancy. :)
Alias is a good TV Show

I'll have to check it out. Thanks Z-man!
The only TV show I got into over DVD without ever giving it a chance on TV would be Buffy. I never concieved it would be even a half decent show, but I had plenty of friends who swore by it and when I came down to FSU I was sleeping on my friend Mark's couch for about a month so I watched a fair amount of it. Pretty good stuff, to my surprise.
If you like Aqua Teen Hunger Force you'll probably love Sealab 2021, a show which I find to be vastly superior. Such a bummer that Harry Goz (the voice of the Captain) passed away mid through so now they're having to introduce new characters etc. The new season of it actually started up last Sunday night.

Oh I do love that show too. Sometimes it's better than ATHF. Only a few people that I know get Sealab's humor:
"Where did you get those?"
"Ahhhh....uhhh...a place called stores."

Buffy is on my Netflix queueueueue.
"FSU"?? Are you in Tallahassee?
Haha, I'll try not to turn this into a thread of my favorite Sealab quotes, but I can't hold this one back. It's from the episode "Let 'Em Eat Corn" in which Sealab is declared a soverign nation (called Sealabia) and then all the various people group together and succeed from Sealabia, forming new nations.
"I pooped in our fox hole"
"What!?"
"but I did put my blanket over it"
"Why the hell didn't you use the toliet"
"It succeeded from me."
And early in the episode:
Dr. Quinn: "I'm succeeding from you and I'm deffinetly succeeding from your country ass! If anyone needs me, I'll be in....Quinnland."
Tornado Shanks: "Don't you dare walk out that door"
Dr. Quinn: "Yah, that's what your momma told me"
Tornado Shanks: "Nice comeback"
Quinn runs back and produces a taperecorder
Old lady voice: "Quinn, don't you dare walk out that door"
Tornado Shanks: "That could be anyone"
Dr. Quinn: "uh"
Presses play on the TV and a video of an old woman in bed pops up
Old lady: "Dont make me, Abbey Shanks, mother of Torando, beg you to come back in here and give her some more of that sweet, forbidden, jungle love of yours. Baby I love you, Baby I love you, Baby I love you."
Dr. Quinn: "And...scene!"
Tornado Shanks: "Well, obviously this means war."
"FSU"?? Are you in Tallahassee?
Yep.

Oh, that. It's a French television production from 2003, a modernized retelling, with Catherine Deneuve, Rupert Everett, Nastassja Kinski and Leelee Sobieski. I picked that one up as a blind buy too, from a video store's previously viewed rack. I mostly got it because of the cast, and I liked the other two major versions of the story (Frears' and Forman's). Sadly, it is just downright awful. Mainly because it is dubbed. Badly.
But, I think I paid $3 for it, so no biggie. I'll try to dump it somehwere in town here, and even if I only get a buck for it, that'll be fine by me.

“Anne of Green Gables” (PBS)
I've seen every episode. I loved that show to death. My sisters and I made a big deal out of watching it together. If one of us wouldn't be around, we'd tape it and watch it later. The series did a good job "aging" Anne without the use of major make-up. She just did a good job acting older and more mature. I thought it was well done. I'm surprised you own it. It seems like such a girl's show. What did you find appealing about it?

I'm a big drama nerd too. I took drama all four years at highschool; quite an accomplishment since I was still cool enough to have a social life outside of rehersals.
I don't have any TV series but i have bought my Husband season 1 2 & 3 of frasier for Christmas
