Just played my mate's version. Mine arrives in a few days. It's gonna help remove the stress of some hectic upcoming workdays methinks :). (altho my fledgling relationship looks in danger of getting knocked out of the nest by this beast . I'm gonna limit myself to 2hrs a night ;))

LOL, it will only hinder work, if i can put time aside for more important things, than i am a greater man than i realised. My friend is already way further than me, i got today to catch up, and do a shed load of work. After my g/f bought it for me i did recommend a break for a few months lmao.

This game is destroying my degree. It really is. When i awake it is there, tempting me into its flashy dirty world. SUCH a good game. Some might even say...a bit too good :suspicious:
Ya, I find myself contemplating what I will do in the game when I get home. A friend of mine also set up a yahoo-group where we post about what we are doing and hints and such. It really is spooky how sort of realistic the mini-society is...
I'm just waiting for HL2.
I'm just waiting for HL2.
Saw an ad for it when I went to see Saw. Game looks incredible. I don't own that system though...

I'm at the desert.
Has anyone tried parachuting out of a plane yet?
Nope, I am still in Los Santos, with not much done. I have trouble staying focused on anything in this game, and spend most of the time tooling around on the BMX and pimping...

When you get further along in the game, you can drive Monster Trucks and Quad Bikes. Exciting, no?
Hopefully I get to it someday. I ended up with 97% complete in VC, and that took forever. This game is like six times as big!!

Just out of interest, any of you take over ALL the gang terrority in the beginning city? Im trying to before doing the misions as i hear you get kicked out the city....
Currently i have one bit of the Ballas do take then i own them, havnt started on yellow
The Taxi Driver
11-07-04, 06:44 PM
i thought i was going to have all the game to get the gang territories so i but it off and did missions and now its too late.
Sinny McGuffins
11-12-04, 06:10 PM
It's not too late, you go back to Los Santos after Las Venturas to "take back the 'hood".
It's a waste of time trying to take over gang territories straight away, you'll just end up doing it again.
Anyone else completed it yet?
Pyro Tramp
11-14-04, 02:00 PM
You completed it? I wish i read that post sooner, i took over all the gang terroritory only to lose it all, damn. Is it me or is San Feiro very similar to Liberty from GTA3?
Sinny McGuffins
11-14-04, 07:53 PM
Yeah, I completed it. It's get's a lot better (and harder) towards the end. I remember having to take over more than 35% of gang territory before I could do the last mission, when I'm almost sure I already had done.
Pyro Tramp
11-15-04, 01:55 PM
What was your overall time, on stats?

Damn, you must be good, i think im on that already and only in San Fierro. The gang terroriitory took me ages though
The Taxi Driver
11-17-04, 05:08 PM
did anyon e lse notice that after you finish Catilinas missions and she dumps you for that other guy. that guy is the GTA 3 guy and when they say they are going to liberty city im pretty sure that Catilina is the girl who shoots the GTA 3 guy in the beginning of GTA 3. i havent play GTA 3 in a while but im pretty sure im right
Sinny McGuffins
11-17-04, 10:06 PM
Damn, you must be good, i think im on that already and only in San Fierro. The gang terroriitory took me ages thoughI'm not that good. I saved the game everytime I passed a mission, then whenever I died, got arrested or failed a mission I'd just load the saved game. So that'd take a lot of time off.
I've only completed the main story. It'll take me ages to get 100%.
Pyro Tramp
11-18-04, 03:25 PM
Yeah thats what i do. And yes, i think it is the d00de from GTA3 and Catalina from the beginning
I am going for 100%, and if you finished the story missions first YOU CAN NOT GET 100%, this is clearly stated in the game guide. I have still barely done any story missions (Just strated territory wars) but have all the jumps in LS done, 95 tags, 15 oysters (LS only has 15) and have completed most of the side/vehicle missions. I am having trouble finding the other 5 tags.... I am not sure what gets locked out if you bypass and head out to SF to fast, but most of the FAQs and the official guide all state you MUST complete all the side stuff before moving on if going for 100%. This is the first GTA game to lock out side quests.
Sinny McGuffins
11-18-04, 05:40 PM
Where abouts in the guide does it state this?
Sinny McGuffins
11-18-04, 05:55 PM
In my guide it says the following...
"To reach 100% completion of San Andreas, you must complete the tasks listed below...
Completion of all game missions: This includes main story missions and prerequisite Odd Jobs.
Buying all the assest properties in the game: Zero RC Shot and Wang Auto; Verdant Meadows Airstrip.
Acquiring assets for all properties: Roboi's Food Mart, LS; Hippy Shopper, SF; Burger Shot, LV; Hunter Quarry, Bone County; Vank Hoff Hotel, SF; "RS Haul" Flint County.
Buying all save houses in the game
Painting all 100 Gang Tags
Photographing all 50 Photo Ops
Collection of all 50 Oysters
Collection of all 100 Horseshoes"
It doesn't say anything about completing all the side stuff before moving on.
The Taxi Driver
11-18-04, 07:03 PM
i never bothered to try to do the 100% completion on any GTA game its too hard and just not fun and i dont think there is any prize they can give me that would make up for looking for all hidden stuff like tags or packages
Pyro Tramp
11-20-04, 02:33 PM
still, its a shame to lose all chance of completing it 100%, as its uch a big game im trying to do all sidequests. If some1 could post things to do before moving on. PS shame on everyone using a guide

What are the oysters? and where do you find them? Also what are the horseshoes? and where do you find them....also what are the photo ops and where do you find them? Jeez i dont know a lot about this game....
So Sedai, if i complete all the story missions first, then try to complete all the side ones, i cant complete the whole game?? If so, that sucks!
OOh and has everyone found the parachute on the top of the big mountain in the bottom left corner of the map? Its so cool, ride ya bmx as fast as poss off the edge then do a base jump, great fun.

Also what are the horseshoes? and where do you find them....also what are the photo ops and where do you find them?Oysters are under water, scattered all over San Andreas. Photo Ops are pictures you take around San Fierro. Horseshoes are spread across Las Venturas, they increase your gambling luck.

I find it neither too hard, or not fun to attempt to get 100%, and you DO get something for finding all that stuff, be it special vehicles, extra weapon drops at your save points, respect, appeal, stats, and on and on and on.... Anyway one of the great things about this series is that it has something for everyone. As for the 100% thing, I know I read it, and can't point it out at this moment, but it said somehing about Los Santos and one of the side quests or challenges not being available if you don't do it the first time through the city, before going to SF...I'll try and hunt it down when I get time.

Right i have a few questions
Basically, i wanna fly some planes, but i cant find the flight school anywhere, so where is it? I havnt completed all the missions yet so does that mean i cant fly till i have? Ive climbed over the fence at most of the airports, but the planes and copters are all locked :( Any ideas?

If you complete quite a few of the James Woods/Secret-Agent-Guy missions you get to start flying planes.
Before that you have to find the gates-and-shack at all the airports that don't let you in [and tell you you need your flying licence]. Then you can park a car by the shack and jump onto the roof. But when i tried all this i couldn't get into any of the planes. Bler. In Los Santos airport the entrance is on the north side, kind of a bit off to the east. Just mooch around there and you'll find it.
Ah well, you've reminded me it's time to run around an imaginary world...

You'll get his missions once you reach the "desert strand". You should try and complete the game as soon as possible, then spend some time roaming the streets after you've finished. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but you get two really good vehicles for completing Toreno's missions. His missions are tough, no doubt about it, but for what you recieve, they're definitely worth while.
