Hey I've just decided to make a love/hate thread on Office Space just to see what Mofo members think about the movie. I personally thought it was a hilarious movie but i'm into dumb comedy like this. I'd like to hear your opinion on this movie.

I loved Office Space, how can anyone not like a movie with Jennifer Aniston??? Twas definately a funny movie. Alot of the "funny" movies in the past couple of years should take a look at that movie and see how it is done (The Whole Ten Yards, yikes that was awful). I am not sure if I have ever come across anyone who didnt like this movie.

I work in an office and it seems like fairly regularly someone quotes this movie. I don't know too many people who don't like it even though it wasn't big at the box office.

i personally dont like it. while i find the stuff peter did in the movie funny and stuff i can relate to, i dont find the movie that funny. its not a movie that i actually laugh at. i'll take a recent movie like Team America, that is a movie i laugh at the whole time
Well yeshli- we all have different tastes-
As for me, Office Space is in my top ten funniest movies. I can watch it again and again and again, and no matter how much film school tells me its crap, i love it every time. ;)

Definately Love it.
Milton and Samir are my favourites.
Samir: No one is this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Nayee-Nanajar. Nayeenanajar.
Michael Bolton: Yeah, well, at least you're name isn't Michael Bolton.
Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There WAS nothing wrong with it. Until I was about 12 years old, and that no-talent-ass-clown because famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Why don't you just go by Mike, instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way! Why should I change it? He's the one who sucks.
:D
How can you NOT love this movie???? :D It was a triumph for all the yahoos stuck on the merry-go-round of middle corporate america. Plus, everytime I get in traffic and switch lanes only to find I screwed myself and the lane I was in starts moving, the first thing that comes to mind?
OFFICE SPACE. :D
Its become a sort of mantra. I look at the person in the passenger seat. The person looks at me. We simultaneously burst out in sheer resignation at the Fates: OFFICE SPACE!!!!

"Hey Peter, how's it going?"
How can you not like this movie? Michael Bolton (spelling?) listens to rap? Genius.

I enjoy the movie, though it is without a doubt overwatched on a massive scale.

How much of it do you think people should watch? ;)
I liked it, but for things on that subject, I prefer The Office, a brit tv sitcom. I hurt myself, laughing at that show.

It's okay, though it is without a doubt overrated on a massive scale.
I saw it in theatre and thought it was funny. Especially the part where they were kicking the crap out of the computer and ended up having to drag their buddy away from it kicking in the air. :p
Office Space was ok, but not as funny for me as it obviously is for others. With all of the talk I had heard about it, I expected more and was a little disappointed.

Ok, lemme throw in my two cents.
I had not seen Office Space until way after its release onto DVD. I knew of a bunch of people around me that had seen it and thought it was hilarious. So I took a gamble and watched it.
The first time watching it, I was undecided on whether or not I liked it. I thought it had funny parts, but then at the same time, I was bored watching it.
I gave it a second chance and it grew on me. Anyone that works in an office, or works any job for that matter, can relate to the drama that Peter and his co-workers were subjected to on a daily basis. Hell, I would've done the same thing.
But after seeing it, then watching Clerks, I find Clerks more a funny movie than I do Office Space. Simply because Clerks you can relate more to on a personal level than you can Office Space. While both are funny in their respective settings. Who in their right mind would stay at a job they hated as much as Peter clearly did just to pull off a scheme that ended up not even benefiting themself?
So, bottomline, great flick, worth watching.

In my opinion Office Space was on of the best movies Hollywood has ever released, hell its the best thing that happened to Hollywood. The movie was freakin brilliant and original. So i obviously i love this movie i don't see how a lot of people can't respect this movie i think everyone should at least respect it.

Its a good point- but i believe the same damn thing happpened in Clerks.

Autumn, could you elaborate please? Original... I can insert my own opinion but I'd like to read yours. Brilliant... I have no idea what your idea of a brilliant movie is.

Freakin brilliant, Office Space is far from. It's a funny movie, but far from brilliant. Like I said, Clerks is pretty much the same movie just different actors. Clerks, on the other hand, for the budget it was shot with IS "freakin brilliant"

I love this movie. I can't get enough of it. Steven Root is so hilarious. Plus where i work it my boss often acts like a female version of Lumbergh. ;)

I got to meet Brian O'Halloran. He came and spoke at my college in September. I got him to sign my clerks DVD, it was pretty cool. He spent the evening telling us about different points in the movie.

Sometimes when you go into a movie not expecting much you get more out of it. Even though I thought it was funny, if I saw it with alot of good hype attatched to it, I believe I would have been disappointed.
Does that make sense? :nope:

I see what you're saying Escape.
Hype tends to build up a movie and then you go expecting a blockbusting, Academy Award winning, film, and you end up kicking yourself for buying the ticket to a movie that really had no strong points to it.
It DID make sense. :)
Must see this movie

Firstly I really enjoyed Office Space. Quirky humour. "Where's my stapler please?"
Next, I think Autum means she 'really really really really really really' likes it. Does that help?

I thought it was ok but, like many much loved comedies, I don't really see where the love comes from. I know people who'll tell you this is the funniest film ever made.
