View Full Version : name that band
Not sure if its been done, i searched and couldn't find it. I will name an album title and you name the band. For example... Appetite For Destruction...the next person guesses the band, Guns n Roses. Here's the first..

It is a suboptimal Tool album, in comparison to most of their other works. The idea of Tool doing a few covers, when they can write and perform original music as unique and well done as they usually do, was a waste of time and effort for them. Maynard is too good of a songwriter to be releasing an album with yet another version of Third Eye (one of my favorite Tool songs, btw) and some covers...Still listenable to be sure, but not great Tool.
As for the above post
Nick Cave
and my next choice...

I very much agree! the reason i chose that paticular album is because not many people are familiar with that album, even some huge Tool fans that I know. Tool is one of my favorite bands. I think that if I chose "Opiate" "Undertow" or any other album for that matter, it would be so obvious.
Oh sarah, I was in no way coming down on you for picking the album, just threw my opinion of it out because, well, I guess i am opinionated :D Have you seen these guys live yet? Just incredible. So tight...
I like the floyd avatar WAY more than that homely chap you had up (may he rest in peace)...
No I have never seen Tool live but I did see A Perfect Circle a few months ago. It was awesome except Keenan wouldn't come out from behind the friggin' curtain. Did he do that at the Tool concert you went to?
The Richest Man in Babylon
I am picturing the cover. It has a circle in the middle and it is green. Gosh what's the name of the band. It's funny cuz I was looking at it at a friends house just the other day. I remember asking if the band is political.

nope
By the title of the album it sounds like it might be a punk band. Maybe angst-ridden street-smart moody lyrics. Which is common in the early punk years. So it is from the mid-late 70s.
is it Dead Boys or Dead Kennedys?

Not the Dead Boys or Dead Kennedy's, but it IS from the late 70's CBGB's Punk Era. One hint. It's this artist's first and last album.
Richard Hell joined a band after Television, called The Heartbreakers. Then went and formed another band called the Voidoids. The Voidoids is the only one I can think of that had only one album. I am not sure what it is called which makes me think that maybe "Blank Generation" is it. As you can tell I am more familiar with the "well known" punk bands from this era (Sex Pistols, The Clash, Talking Heads, DK etc)

I think your right! How weird...I remember the cover. I had this skater boyfriend back in the day and he listened to everthing and anything that was punk and not popular punk. He had this tape...it was the Voidoids. Good guess, Gummo.

Yeah, It is Richard Hell and the Voidoids. a truly underrated cd. One of my all time favorites. (The heartbreakers never recorded a cd with Richard Hell, opting instead for Johnny Thunders as their lead singer and creating the brilliant "L.A.M.F." album, as well as stealing a song from Dee Dee Ramone. Yes, I am a punk fanatic. LOL)
