I think it would be nice if threw our own awards for MoFo user and mods!
Another site i used to be on had the same system. The mods or other users would select several candidates for one award (exe: best poster award) and the rest of the users would vote (by pm'ing the vote organiser) for one of the slected users to get the award.
Someone would first have to selected to organize the awards and recieve the votes themselves. Perhaps one of the mods or well established users could be the organiser. As PM's get recieved, the organiser would tally up the votes. At the end (usually a month or 3 weeks) all of the votes would be tallied up and the awards would be announced.
Such awards could be...
-Best Poster
-Best Newbie
-Most anoying poster
-Funniest poster
-Best Reviewer
-Best Modorator
-Much more...
This awards suggestion could be a great way for people to post more, or post better. Thre would be no special privilages, but there would be recoginition...
Just a thought.
Note: I got the idea fro here (http://simcitycentral.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9174&sid=e6f4cbc2e770b9262615de4c7a9ed781)

Yeah Pm him. You stole my idea :(
i personally don't like the idea too much, but what can i do to stop you, right?
what about "Funniest Post" award, like something really clever that made lots of Mofo's laugh, this wouldn't include posts from the joke thread, because the jokes come from elsewhere. And also maybe a "most Memorable mofo" (one who has left). This is just a suggestion as u requested :) .

This is why it can be fun - a little bit of friendly compitition. Who would be the organiser and vote reciever??? any ideas to who it could be if it was approved??
your idea, you ought to run it, and i vote Agent 0 most missed
I never get picked for awards like this, I think it's cuz I blend in too much :(

It would be up to yoda and the crew to choose the organiser and whether to run it all together. I wouldnt mind hoting it, if they didn't have anyone else suggested.

That was a compliment right?
Because if it is not...then it offends me. In one swell foop it manages to demean both insects and the assistants of mad scientists the world over.
Look behind you slick...see that line? You crossed it.
Have you ever had gout? I have... I have no idea how, but I got a batch of it in my knee and it was, without a doubt, the most god-awful experience I have ever...experienced...in my entire sexually immature life. I would rather have teeth pulled without anesthesia, lukewarm pokers inserted into my ears, and have rabid pygmy albino marmosets file my taxes than ever go through that nightmare again.
Think of the marmosets before you post such blatantly incendiary posts...
Though if it was a compliment, than thanks...I love you too!

My award would be for, Wasting the time of others. NO?
This has actually been proposed by many members over the years. And I've told them the same thing I'm about to tell you: it's a good idea, I'd like to do something similar to it, but it'd be a little difficult, logistically, and it'd probably hurt a few feelings.
It'd probably only work if the categories were highly specific. Things like "Best Poster" would end up including votes for people who are the most informative, easiest to get along with, most active, etc. Better to make each of those factors their own category.
So, if there's a strong consensus in favor of this, and we avoid overly broad categories, I suppose we could give it a shot. We'd definitely need standards, though (IE: a set number of days during which each poll will be open), and I'd suggest that the "Make votes public" option NOT be checked, to at least cut down on any mild animosity that might result.
I am in favour of whatever Yods thinks :yup:

Oooooooooo your terrible ;)
Yeah nebbs it is distracting but still a pretty cool avatar, kind of like a piece of art that everyone looks at because it stands out and if people don't like it then they don't have to look at it do they! Did u make it yourself? Like in a flash or photoshop program or did u find it somewhere on some website? :)
Hey what about "BEST AVATAR", I hope nobody said this already.

Good idea for standards, their all always people who abuse a system like this. Being very specific is really good idea...
I still think it would be a good idea, provided that no-one complains to much about the result. For the first try, we will only make the awards positive, or not sugestive (ei: most anoying poster, worst poster). This would help to get this awrd system off the fround...
This site has just the right amount of users for the awards. Not to much so that it's hard to choose the candidates, and not to little that it's not worth it.
It's all up to Yoda, and the forums...
starrdarcy
10-12-04, 05:53 PM
Another important idea...
We should only put positive awards for the first try:
-best poster
-Best newbie
-Most renound user
-User with the best sig (text or picture wise)
-Fastest Poster (posts per day)
-Funniest poster (jokes, funnies)
As more awards happen throughout the year, other awards can be added for amusment or knowledge:
-Most anoying poster
-Most abbsent user
-User with the worst text sig
-The most unapreciated user
Be aware, these awards should not be taken to seriously or litereally...

Yoda mentioned that it wouldnt be good if the awards hurt people feelings...
ok, then we need to start off with a few categories, lets say, 12 or so, once this shindig is off the ground, you should widen the field

It seems like there's interest, so maybe your first step could be asking for suggestions about categories? Maybe give a deadline for suggestions, like a day or two from whenever you open the floor. After choosing categories, you might want to take nominations for each category, and then post 5 or so nominees in each... and then I'd suggest private ballot (PMs to you) and announcing two winners in each category, so no one feels completely singled out. That's my two cents' worth.

This seems good.
I'll set up another thread asking for awards suggestions and yes a deadline so i could choose. I need someone to help me... i'll search today for another user or mod who wants help out. over the next week, we'll search for the candidates who fit the awards. It won't be easy because there's alot of good people out there, but it is possible. Right on it...
