Lessons From A User...
By Darcy Starr

When i first registered at MoFo recently i was still quite new to the whole concept of forums from the way i posted and replied. The lessons i share are for newbies and experinced user to this site or any other site. So that means that this is transfereable...

Feel free to add in a lesson or experience that you had when you first started out posting in the world of forums. It will help the quality of a discussion (hopefully...).

Forums themselves: Not all about you...

Some people (like me) have learned the hard way of posting a thread or reply in a new forum. Many newbies tend to talk about themselves too much, or may post a thread that is all about them or is totally unrelated to the site. This is not good because you will give the impression that your here to talk only about yourslef. And as other put it - it's kind of rude. The key to making a good post or reply is to make it on topic and not all about you.

The First couple of weeks you start in a new forum is to read more post less, or if you have to post, make sure it's realated.

Flaming and Trolling: A Quick Way To Get A Reputation.

Not everyone in a forum is going to agree with each other, on with you in. People are entitled to their seperate views (within guidlines) about certain topic and others people POV's. This can get sometime get out of hand. When posting try not to ake it personal if you can, and do not carry over arguments into ther threads - it becomes anoying. Another thing to work on is trying not to put someone in an awkward postition or zero in on someone and herasing them. Limit the use of harsh language and personal attacks. There is nothing worse than getting a bad rep or a total ban.

Mods and Admins: Give Respect and Authority

The moderators and Administrators are the driving force behind any forum or site. Without them, a forum could not exist and/or the forum would fall into disrepair and anarchy. They both have the job of making sure people act properly, keep an eye on what people post and the general mantenence of the site.

with that in mind, respect the Mods and Admins for the work they put into the site. Remember they created the place where you talk and meet. do not bad-mouth or herase mods, this can result in bad rep and possible booting. New people should be aware that mods can do things they want, so don't be trying to do their work, or give them a hard time. This will make sure you have a pleasant stat at any site or forum.

Give Respect To OTHER Users...

This is essentially the same thing as the previous paragraph with the exeption that the mods can do as they wish and users can't.

We all know that users have their own POV's, likes and dislikes. give respect to user and you will create new friends. in other words, treat others the way you would want to be treated. keep in mind the flaming and trolling ways that are easy to get into.

End..

All of this info will help newcommers and experienced thread posters to have a comftorble stay at a site or forum. use this info to create a quality forum and site...

my only advice to add to that, for now anyway, is, Don't piss off the mods or admin, Yoda, Caitlyn, Silver Bullet, and OG-

My question is..is it okay for mods to piss you off when they have nothing else better to do. You know who you are. ;)
