You want this man as our president, Chris?

You want this man as our president, Chris? Yes. Overall policy overrides amusing anecdotes every time. Bill Clinton is alleged to have seen the "bouncing lines" screensaver and marvelled at technological progression. Such little stories don't matter, but are passed on so that people can have a superficial reason for ther opposition they already hold.
Yah, I can see your point. You aren't voting for the man himself, you're voting for everything he represents.
I guess I just feel someone who is the president of the United States of America should be able to answer an unscripted question without looking like an absolute idiot.
I agree...but of course, he does answer questions off-the-cuff without sounding like an idiot. He probably does it hundreds of times a day. But enough of them are taped that, when he screws up like that, people start threads about it on the Internet.
That's how I see it, at least.
Yes, slip ups and errors are inevitable, especially when every action the man makes is likely to be caught on film...but this isn't just some small goof up where he held a book upside down for a few seconds and happened to get photographed in doing so...
This is a clip of a man who simply didn't have the intelligence or tact to even dodge the question, like any other politician would have.
I'd like a president who isn't laughed at during a public interview when they aren't making a joke.

I don’t care how big of a Who fan GWB is, I'm still not voting for him.
That's my final word on this…even though few will get it, as they aren’t of my generation, baby.
uh oh i feel a political debate coming.
yoda i understand that your voting for the things he represents and not bush himself.
but what does he represent that you believe in?
Yes, slip ups and errors are inevitable, especially when every action the man makes is likely to be caught on film...but this isn't just some small goof up where he held a book upside down for a few seconds and happened to get photographed in doing so... That's a hoax, actually (http://www.snopes.com/photos/bushbook.asp).
This is a clip of a man who simply didn't have the intelligence or tact to even dodge the question, like any other politician would have. You're criticizing him for NOT dodging a question he didn't have the answer to? He certainly bungled that answer, but I don't know anyone who hasn't had those moments. What he does is far more important than how he seems in contextless incidents.
yoda i understand that your voting for the things he represents and not bush himself.
but what does he represent that you believe in? Actually, Peter said that, but I don't agree. I still feel I'm voting for the man himself.
What he represents that I believe in most is a simplified tax code, lower taxes, free trade, an aggressive foreign policy, optional social security privatization, and increased accountability in the educational system. He, of course, represents things I don't believe in, but they are not as important as the ones I do.

We all really need to stop with the political things here. Pretty soon the user's on Mofo will get into this and every one will be argueing.....
No matter what gets posted here some one is going to dissagree with your opinion.
Although I don't agree some of the things on the politcal thread's here. I won't just call your opinion out and say It's stupid or very ignorant. It's times like these I'm happy I cant vote yet.
So I would Like to Apologize to you Chris for over-reacting in the America is for Hipocrisy, threas. But what I was trying to convey was this. We shouldn't be argueing over facts and things in the past about oneanother. America shouldn't be so serperated like it is today, white black, republican, democrate. We should come together and be more unified. Every one
Hell if nothing else I say this clip just makes me want to vote for him. He is down to Earth, and I actually got what he was trying to say.

Oh man I love the Daily Show. I love The Daily Show, too, but I'm not sure what you find so impressive about this particular clip. It wasn't scathing or clever enough to be as unfunny as it was.
The comedy always suffers when it has to take a backseat to a political agenda, unfortunately.
I admire editing.
You don't find the humor in that?
Even the political aspects of it were funny...especially how Bush changes his tune...I think you'd have laughed if it was a clip showcasing how Clinton originally said he didn't have sexual relations then the progressive changes from that original standpoint...
Ah yes, the ever-popular "I'll bet you'd have felt different if it were X, instead." Unfortunately there's no way to determine whether or not that's true, but based on what I know of myself I don't think I'd find yet another Clinton sex joke all that funny, either.
This is coming from someone who loves Will Ferrell's turns as Dubya on SNL, and has adored Jon Stewart from the beginning, mind you. I know good satire when I see it (even if it's at the expensive of my candidate-of-choice), and that ain't it. In my opinion, of course.
Fine, ya big jerk. http://whitehousewest.com/
And just for the record I don't go out of my way to find Bush things...I'm really not all that concerned with Bush, I'm just a huge nerd and thus find tons of links on the internet.
