SPIDER-MAN 2
http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0000C47LD.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
Plot: Peter Parker's having a rough time. His double life as the superhero Spider-Man is having a devastating impact on his civilian life. Things are so bad he declares that he's quitting, and never putting on the suit again. However, his sense of duty forces him to become a hero again when the brilliant scientist Dr. Otto Octavius is deformed in an accident and becomes Dr. Octopus. With four metal tentacles sticking out of his back, he'll prove to be a more than worthy opponent for Spider-Man.
Review
Here's my thought!: Allright you guys i just got back and im achy and tired. and energetic so bare with me.
The question, What is a hero? has surfaced many times in films I have seen and finally i saw it in the portrayal of this superhero. This movie is without a doubt the one film of this year that has the full package. It never dissapointed. I was left hanging for more.
I arrived at my screening 3 hours in advance and found out a line was almost 1 block long!. WTF. well i made through it standing in the scorching nyc sun and got my seat in the center of the theater with the stereos centered on me. Enough of me.
The movie starts of with Peter Parker going back to doing what he does best. That is, be our friendly neighborhood spider-man.
This time around the movie shows more hardships and struggles that peter has gone through. I really felt for this guy. Everyone wants to be Spider-man, but no one wants to be Peter Parker.
Peter is trying to survive his life as many of you know doing his duties as Spider-man and go to school, work, and pay the rent.
This time around i guarntee there will be more of the connection with people and peter parker. Everywhere he goes he ends up getting something bad happen to him. So much goes wrong with Peter Parker and the result we all no is him quoting "Spider-man no more". i love what becomes of this, this is the realization Peter gets which are you have to make sacfrices even if it is your dream to do the right thing in this world.
Remember this, because it is what makes our main character stronger.
Eventually Peter becomes Spider-man again because there is a villian around. Doctor Octupus. He is terrorizing the town to do what he wants. He wants to accomplish 'HIS dream'. i wont say just find out. :) when you watch.
Time for the goodies
This movie was a blast. i enjoyed EACH AND EVERY MOMENT Spider-man and Dr.Ock were on screen. Man the scenes that come to mind right away are.
*** Brief Spoiler of locations of confrontations***
1) Spider-man and Dr.Ock at the bank and how it leads up to the top of this building. this is the best action part of the movie. really my heart was going "dum dum" Heart pounding action. Back and forth they went.
2) Spider-man and dr.ock at the train scene. I will say this the action in this scene is truly magical. Spiderman uses the ULTIMATE strength to stop this train from falling off. Beautiful. Dr.Ock is the man in this scene. THE MAN!!!!!!!!!
3) Final Confrontation. Brilliance at its best. A person must realize what is the right thing and choices are made once again. I will tell you this there isnt a mega action fight here. you can say that is the super cool train scene.
The bad stuff
Well nothing to make this movie lower terribly. Some scenes dragged a bit. The ending was a pit funny and may i sy a little to corny. MJ running in her wedding dress to peter's apt. she makes her choice. NOTHING ELSE!!!!.
Charactcers:
- Tobey(Peter)= His progress from the first film is very good. He is less tense i think and i notice how much he likes his role now. You can see he portrays Peter better this time. I love every scene that has something go wrong for him. Not in a mean way, just the way he shows it on screen. His best one liner - " I'm Back I'm Back... MY BACK MY BACK" ahahahah some of you might know this scene was when he has lost strentgh he tries to believe in himself again so he tries to jump from building to building(im back im back) and falls and hits the cars below(my back my back) ahahaha
Kristen Dunst(Mary Jane)- She is fine in her role. I think i have gotten attached to her in this role so she does what she does. Good job
James Franco(Harry)- HA! This guy is at the peak of brilliance in acting. He has one more film to prove he is the next up and coming hollywood megastar.
Aunt May- This woman who played Aunt May really brought the biggest emotional punch!. I think she is a scene stealer. a SCENE STEALER. I think every line she said made me think about my mother. She is such a importance to Peter and the woman who played her just made me almost teary eyes :(. What a role. she does a fine job as a aunt and really in the 1st film she was not a great deal to me as a character in the film. BUT here she just makes the film one of the best movies of the year.
DR.OCK!(Alfred Molina)- Let me say Alfred did this job with full confidence and acted in his own way. He did not OVERACT and he did not make Dr.Octupus a overly pompus prick or just plain annoying. He played himself. We have had villians such as Tommy Lee Jones as the two face just piss me off. Dr.Ock he is the meaning of coolness. Now... now... he is not that menacing as he seemed to me in the comics. Till you really tick him off. I liked the conversation he had with Peter in the beginning. I think Dr. Otto was a Hippy it seemed back in the day. His wife and him seemed like it. that just might be me though. His presence is very powerful. Like a T-rex. everytime he seems to be near you hear the DUM and DUM of the tentacles hitting the wall/ground. Better then William Dafoe i think, but William had to play a tougher villian IMO.
Final Thoughts.
I love the Origin of Spider-man the way he lives his daily life. I thought they showed a good amount in the first film. This movie they show more hardships, struggles, pain and triumph overall. The emotion and drama is what made all the critics love this movie along with the action that is i think almost hardcore and fast paced. The annhilation of the doctors = Hardcore
I have heard X-men 2 comparisons and superman 2 comparision. i think this movie is at moments much more deeper and more darker as X-men 2 was. It settles down alot and lets the life of Peter progress. the part of Dr.Ock coming in makes the movie the 'FUN and action packed drive'.
There is so much more to say but im worn out for now and i proud to say this movie has everything in one film. Secrets are revealed, mysteries are solved and the anticapation builds up even more for the next film. SM-3. The movie can go only 1 way in the next film and I REALLY THINK the franchise with this whole cast needs to be pushed to ONE more just one more film. making it 4. BUT as for this movie i expected it to be one of my best action movies ever. But it ended up being one of my best overall movies ever. The whole package!.
Hero's are remembered, but legends never die
10/10

Anything Sam Raimi touches is gold in my eyes and Spiderman 2 is no exception. Maybe the hundreds of millions this film will make will be enough for the studios to fund Evil Dead 4.
I saw Spidey Tuesday night and it was excellent....not one complaint. Spiderman 2 is 110% better than the first.
Some scenes dragged a bit. The ending was a bit funny and may I say a little to corny.
I have to disagree....the movie moved along at a perfect pace. The last confrontation betwen Pete and MJ at the end of Spiderman 2, was so intense, gratifying, pleasurable to hear. It all came down to Mary Jane's last three words that literally brought chills up my spine.
The climax of the movie, if I may, was "sort of" predictable (if you know the background of the comic books). Though that didn't matter because 99.9 3/4 % of the film made up for that.
I can't wait now for the summer of 1997 for Spiderman 3. :p

**Do Not Read If You Have Not Seen Movie**
I was just a little confused by the scene in which Harry find's his father's hidden room with all the Green Goblin things. I thought this implied that Harry now knows the truth about his father and will no longer be upset with Spiderman, but my friend is convinced that he was looking at everything as if he was going to use them and "avenge" his father's death. Any opinions on this?

I think Harry doesen't really want to harm spidey anymore, because pete is his best friend. But the hullucinations are going to get worse and drive him insane. He is slated to be the 'hobgoblin'.

Hi all,
I think I disagree with the hobgoblin part... I mean this is a comic movie and I would hope that they keep it that way and have Harry become Green Goblin #2 as he does in the comics....Although what I wanna know was Spidey's idenity revealed to harry in the comics???? I have to see this movie again to make any judgement on those funnier scenes as the first viewing left me with a more, ok that was childish, which incorealtion to the first movie was kinda dumb.. Although it could be a part of the script leading into 3, changing spidey into a more fun loving guy as in the comics...The newer revamps of spidey has him more mature than his corny self......
Harry is NOT going to be the Hobgoblin. That you can be sure of. As for being the Green Goblin 2 ....... ;)

Yes, as in the comic books, Harry will become the Green Goblin to avenge his father's death. This isn't exactly a secret.
They did also lay the groundwork for another of the regular Spider-Man villians: Peter's professor, Dr. Curt Connors (played by Happiness' Dylan Baker in Spidey 2) will eventually become The Lizard, in yet another experiment-goes-wrong-and-makes-super-baddie plotline.

The movie started out a little silly for me. I loved the comedy at the beginning... Peter being late with the pizza, etc, but I was worried that the entire movie was going to be a lot sillier than the first. Thankfully, I was completely wrong.
The second half of the movie (from where Peter stops being Spidey to the end) was amazing. The subway scene was off the charts, and the crew did an amazing job of getting the story to match parts of the comic books (specifically, when the New Yorkers on the train stand up for Spidey, similar to when they are throwing bottles off the bridge in the first movie, as happened during The Cosmic Series).
All of the cast was amazing, spectacular, sensational (get the reference?). Alfred Molina was perfect as Doctor Octopus... he's always a little bit loony in the comics, and the managed to keep a nice balance between crazed psycho-villain and smart guy. I even liked Kirsten Dunst, whom I didn't think was good for the role in the first flick. Of course, Tobey Maguire was a star.. I don't think there's a better person in all of Hollywood to play Peter Parker. JK Simmons was perfect as Jonah.
Am I the only one who is really annoyed at all these newspaper articles calling Doctor Octopus 'Doc Ock'? That's not his name! That's just what Spidey calls him to bug him! Dr. Octopus! Not Doc Ock!
The Villain in Spider-Man 2 is Green Goblin again right?

Nope. It is Doctor Octopus, a brainy guy who gets 4 mechanical limbs fused to his body.
Spider-Man 2 Stuns
It's being called the greatest superhero movie ever, and has been hailed as the crown jewel in a summer full of blockbusters. Somehow, Spider-Man 2 manages to live up to the hype
Blah i meant 3 my bad --------- :o
Wow. Simply an amazing movie! Raimi comes dangerousley close to perfecting the superhero genre; anything to come has a lot to live up to.
I have to say that i particularly enjoyed the real human stuff in Spidey 2. I believe this is because the movie could have been a success even without the costume and the powers. Pretty bold thing to say, but Toby does such a wonderful job of with all '3' of his characters, that each and every one could manage without the others.
I also felt that spidey 2 was the perfect balance of comedy, action, and drama, each of which pushed the film along at a good pace. The only real problem i see is the very long wait until spidey 3.
:(
Not out over here. Damn.
ain't that always the way

IRT to the Green Goblin #2
I even remember as a child watching the animated series...and in the animated series Harry turns into #2. I think the numerous fans that pack the theaters will be disappointed or feel like they have been some how let down if Spidey 3 doesn't follow the basic storyline. But hey, Stan Lee helps write the script so its his choice and Spider-man is his character by legal rights.
I thought the movie was an easy 10/10. It is a 'perfect formula' movie with not too much and not too little of everything. I loved the inside jokes and many scenes are just plain hilarious and at the same time dramatically serious. I can't wait for the DVD and I definitely can't wait for S3.
I can't wait for the DVD ...
The Spiderman 2 DVD when released in 2005, is entitled Spiderman 2.0
It will of course, have a nice colledtion of extras. Though, it is only the tip of the of the Spidey 2 iceberg. There will be a bigger and much better version soon after. Personally, I'd wait.

Very nice review. I just saw it today and I liked that movie a lot. Some parts were corny. (e.g. the brave trainriders standing up to Doctor Octavious) But all in all the movie was great and I wouldn't be surprised if it gets nominated as best picture at the Academy awards.

Mainly he has an "evil" look on his face because he was just left at the alter. Duh.
But in the comic books, yes, J. Jonah Jameson's son John does become a super villian: The Man-Wolf. On a secret mission to the moon, he found a ruby there that he kept, which turned out to be an alien artifact that turns him into a werewolf-like creature.
I don't know if they'll follow this same history in the movies. I somehow doubt it. Frankly, I think it would be easy to have him acquire the Venom alien lifeform on a NASA mission (and negating the need for The Secret Wars storyline to introduce it), instead of the rather dated Man-Wolf.

sorry read xmen comics not spider man
Saw it last night, and it sure is one great chunk of comic escapism. I loved there way Raimi slipped in some horror-like bits (the hospital), and genuinly funny and playful sections (especially during the main Peter Parker bit). There was corniness and all, but i thought the leads sustained the emotional content well enough. Add to that the impressive special-effects, with the improved swinging-through-the-city animation and the ground-shaking Doc Ock, and it was one impressive package.
Although i liked the way Doc Ock was a "grey-scale" bad guy, and not just pure-unexplained-evil, the bit about the arms having "artificial intelligence" that allowed them take over his higher brain functions was a bit daft (and the way the inhibitory device was a illuminated and exposed fragile little thing was just hilariously silly). The arms whispering to him was still fun tho, and i thought the whole technology-out-of-control thing tallied well with the "intelligence is a gift that brings with it a responsibility" ethic (which in turn was a nice parallel responsability thing to go with the classic Ben Parker "power" ethic)
The final pay-off where MJ sees Peter is Spider-Man was actually pretty effective - but that ending, man, who let them finish it with "you go tiger" ??? (at least, that's what it sounded like to me - it should've been "you go spider" at the very least ;)).

Gah, at least they have the decency to admit they're not going to release the best collection of material first - 2.0 is one way of putting it, but i reckon all first release DVDs of blockbusters should be called Unspecial Editions from now on
Yea i hate it when i get the first new dvd release and then a new one comes out with more features -_-.... Or Unrated/Director's Cut/
Venom and Carnage would make for some very exciting action sequences, but Raimi's clearly heading in another direction.
The real question is what they'll be doing after the third film, which will presumably complete the trilogy Raimi has said he's been envisioning, and therefore require that they bring a new director (and probably new actors) in to continue the franchise.
I'll toss a haphazard prediction out and say that the third'll also be quite good and wildly successful, but that once they've got new people working on the series, it'll start to resemble the last few Batman films we've gotten. Not as bad, but still a dropoff in quality from Raimi's Spidey flicks.
Oh, by the way: here's a peek at a new MoFo feature of sorts...I'm posting it here because it's Spider-Man related. Have a listen.

Yes Venom and Carnage would make an excellent exciting action sequences. But who will play Venom? and Carnage? I dont think The Rock Would make a good Eddie Brock =/
I dont think The Spider-Man Series will turn out to be like the batman films(If Only the Director Doesnt Change). But i heard there was going be like 8 spider-mans or something i really dont know. Probably something false i heard but im not sure =/
But i hope Rami doesnt stop directing the Spider-Man Films if he does stop. THe Spidey Series will probably turn out like the Batman Films :(
(I Hope Batman 5 Will be Better Chris Nolan Did a good Job on Memento)

I have to say, the movie, AMAZING. Not that the first one was bad, it was also amazing, but wow, the second one is near perfect. When you watch it again however, look at Dock Ock when he is sinking underneath the "orb" It is some of the worst CGI I have ever seen. I looks a lot like Montey Python.
On another note, the premeir of the movie was incredible. They closed down the Santa Monica pier (Cali) and had all the rides open, all free games, but more importantly, all the swag you could want. They were giving away by the bag: 2 foot spidey stuffed toys, skateboards, bobber heads, silly string spidey shooters, regular toys from the pier, those giant toys you win at the ring toss. Just giving them away. It was incredible. Go check out pictures online of this thing, you will be amazed

I do have to say though, I loved it, don't get me wrong, but why does this man have to create these super smart arms that he WELDS to his body? He shows them to everyone, and no ones cares that he has just discovered a way to give artificial limbs to people. But you know, I guess Sam can get away with fun cheesy things like that.
Holden picked up on it.
They are turning Jameson's son into Venom. There really isn't a way around it. It was hinted at so incredibly strongly and yet so subtley. It should have stood on when he mentioned his son was an astronaut, but if it didn't strike there I know ever person who watched it was as drawn into the movie as I was would have noticed the jump he makes from the dock onto a boat. He makes the wide jump and all the cops stop running...
Every person I was with did a double take when that happened. That shot was unneccessary unless they are turning him into a villan. And judging by the extreme love that went into this film, Raimi made sure every shot in the movie was a shot that belonged in the movie. Given that and the benign and unimpressive nature of Man-Wolf, I feel pretty damn confident they'll be turning him into Venom. And if not he into Venom, another person he went to the moon with on a mission will become Venom. Though I doubt the latter.
I personally would have liked to see Jake Busey as Eddie Brock, but oh well. I'll take Venom any way I can get 'em.
Raimi is a god. I wish I could live 1,000 years if only to see his vision completed.
Holden picked up on it.

I didn't get it from anywhere other than common sense. Clearly they can't do any version of The Secret Wars to introduce the alien lifeform, and the Man-Wolf is hopelessly outdated. The solution seems pretty simple: make John Jameson into Venom. Easy as pie.
Mmmmmmm, pie.
I know that. Which is why I said I would have liked to see Jake Busey as Eddie Brock. :D

Hi all,
If Harry becomes the next green goblin as so in the comics I think they'll have almost toooo hard a time telling the story...I don't mean to dis the idea as I too think that's its likely...But listen folks, with Harry knowing who spidey is how can anyone in peter's life be safe? I know that Norman knows who spidey is in the comics but they kinda skirted that issue, sad but true...Taking this into consideration I think they'll either have another discover the goblins lair, unlikely though, or there will be yet another villian....Though I do think Harry will be the next villian, as I also hope there would be someone else besides harry.....

i hope they dont use the hob-goblin story for spiderman 3. it will be like the same as the first spiderman. i dont know about you guys but i hate the green goblin. he is one of my least favorite spiderman villians. im glad they did it in the first movie because they had to, to set up the story with Peter and Harry. next i want to see some venom and maybe carniage. i think most people will agree with me. what kind of made me mad about spiderman 2 was that Doc Ock is my second favorite villian. but this movie wasnt about the villian like the first was. it was about peter and his own personal problems. i liked that but i wanted to see more Doc Ock.

I know she hasn't been brought up at all but I'd love to see Spidey fight Black Cat. :randy:
What i think would make a good Venom is Brock Lesnar. He is Huge just like Venom. He would make a good Venom but im not sure as Eddie Brock. But this is my opinion :)

Question:
What was the purpose of Doc Ock throwing the car into the cafe where Peter and MJ were eating?
Was he trying to kill Peter and MJ? If so, he would be killing his only "link" to Spiderman.
Was he trying to determine if Peter was Spidey? If yes, Peter's ability to save himself and MJ was a dead give-away that HE IS Spidey.

Probably just to warn peter hes coming.

1. To get attention
2. No he wasn't trying to kill Peter an MJ. Remember he was told NOT to kill Peter. And....MJ obviosly wouldn't have been killed because Spidey had to save her.
3. No

Look, when you hurl a 3000 to 4000 lbs car into a cafe, you expect someone to get killed. He knew Peter was in the cafe, that's why he went there to begin with. Trust me, just shattering the glass window is enough to get Peter's attention. I'm no scientist but hurling a car is meant to kill someone. If Peter wasn't spiderman, he would be DEAD! Like you said, he was not supposed to kill Peter -- throwing a car dead center at the cafe contradicts that order.

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the appierence of Ash as the bouncer, he's gettin' old they will have some work to do on his looks if he's in Freddy vs Jason. Does anyone have the same theory as me the fact that Doctor Octavious wasn't killed in the end as you see him floating away in the abyss of the water? This movie truley did have it all and was way better than the first, my vote for the best superhero movie ever. Also an exstension to my theory is that if Doc did survive we will come back as the more evil hostile Ock we remember from the comics, does the radioactive blast turn him into some kind of mutant like the lizard, scorpion, or vulture all of which had thier lives deformed by spidey.
As much as the comics and the end of 2 leads on that Harry will be the next green goblin I highly dissagree, I think one reason this movie was much better than the first is the fact that it wasn't souley purposed on the (lame villian) of THE GREEN GOBLIN, there's no way to make #3 as good as 2 using the same character that is not half as good as dock. And I also believe the average population that knows anything about spiderman thinks that Harry will become the Hobgoblin regardless of the traditional storyline. Example: Turning the astronaught into venom when he is supposed to be the Wolfman. That scene did strike me as odd because it was such a far perhaps unreal effects kind of jump as he ran to hug Mary Jane.Thanx for pointing out the fact that this could be part of his future storyline, I just thought I was getting high of my limited edition dr. pepper. Can't wait for the dvd, I'm going to sit outside Best Buy for 6 mos. till the day it arives, #&*$^%* it will be cold in the winter though
ummmmm i believe at the End Doc Ock became good and saved New York. and he is dead he lies motionless in the water with his eyes open not blinking. Thats the end of Doc Ock. Hmmm you ever realize in the spider-man movies Spider-Man always Reveled himself to every villian.

we also talked about what a pussy spiderman/peter parker is for "We stop seating after the doors close"Ash "Okay"Peter
what a puss, batman would have flown in thier on his zip line went right through the first window, kicked Ash in the head with two feet, knocking his pathetic limbs through the door(glass, blood, and wood everywhere), changed into a tux in mid air and landed gracefully and slyly next to the hottest chick in the theater.
They couldn't go wrong with either carnage or venom.

hi guys
first off i loved the movie , but there were some things that had me a little dissapointed ,why did they kill off doc oc ... they could of had a ****load of villians to chose from if he lived and formed the "sinister six" now that would have been great! and y did everyone get to see his real idenity ...i was like "put ur damn mask back on spidey" and ya WHY the green goblin 2 please noooooo i hated the first costume where was the damn green and purple suit , its not like he was from the future or any thing .... but it was an amazing movie and i cant wait for # 3
about the villians PLEASE bring icrazy fool RHINO i loved him just even have a cameo of him run through the city walls with a bag of money or something that would be great!! :) but if they were to go the venom route that would be absolutly phenomenal and i agree with the guy before brock lesner would be a great venom

It's kind of like that in the new spiderman comics that recently started over from the beginning. It seems every tom, dick, and harry know his identity. Kind of comedic actually.
Look, when you hurl a 3000 to 4000 lbs car into a cafe, you expect someone to get killed. He knew Peter was in the cafe, that's why he went there to begin with. He was a mad scientist seduced by his new power...
If you're gonna point that out you might as well point out when he threw the vault door and Peter dodged that one as well.
Maybe he knew Peter was in the cafe, just not where. Its not like it was aimed at Peter, it was aimed at the window. The line Doc Ock says following that sequence would not have been as impactful had he not thrown a ****ing car through the window.

Well my brother works in the Movie Theaters and i got to see spider-man a couple of times. If you notice Doc Ock was motionless plus you can see that his Tentacles had a blue light. As they zoomed out of the scene where Doc Ock is laying motionless in the water and that blue light goes out. Those tentacles are connected to his brain. I guess when he died the tentacles died too. But believe what you want. I'm thinking hes dead and nice Avatar Reservoir Dogs never saw the movie but im planning too next week end... and Umm OG- is right please stop calling him ash....Its not Evil Dead... and y did everyone get to see his real idenity ...i was like "put ur damn mask back on spidey"
I was the same way too, almost thought it was intentional too (like to have sharper Spider senses without the mask on) till I watched the movie for a 2nd time and realised that he seems to have thought he had the mask on, and forgot all about removing it at that point. That I can accept. But why he had to remove the mask when speaking to Doc Ock deludes me, unless it's 'cos he'd completely run out of ideas. Just seemed like he didn't try anything else before choosing to reveal his identity - which I thought was a bit unprofessional for a "masked vigilante".
Also I don't think Doc Ock intentionally threw the car at the cafe where Peter and Mary Jane was in. You realise after the car is flung, Peter and Mary stand there confused, and all there is is the thumping sound but no Doc Ock till a few secs later? If he wasn't there to see Peter in the cafe at the moment the car was flung, it was probably just an accident. Also you notice how he smashes Peter into the wall right before leaving with Mary Jane? Any regular person could've been killed in that impact. But it only goes to show how Doc Ock hasn't gained full control of his strength or his arms, or maybe he just doesn't bother.

OK that kitty guy talks alot of sence and I just wanna say that I loved the movie and Raimi has done an increddible job converting spidey into a great sieries of films. I believe that he will realise and know what is right for the next spidey film (along with good ol' Stan Lee).
******************************************************There are some small spoilers here but nothin that aint seen in the trail or nothin unknown by a spidey fan!!!
******************************************************
I personaly trust these guys to deliver as I feel that they each have ALOT more knowledge of spider-man than any of us. I mean come on Stan Lee is the man.
Anyway I do think that Doc throwing the car was a bit silly but it gave a great effect both (Great CGI) whilst making the whole scene realy tense and thrilling. And anyway it's a comic book movie things are just a bit silly in these but these things a what makes us love the films, comics, etc. I mean how do the people close to Peter not know that he is Spider-man because he talks to them and everythin!
Also can somebody please tell me where the hell does the web come from? I know it comes from his wrists as we see in the first film and just obviously anyway I mean there aren't any wholes or anythin in his suit. This is never made clear or has it? 'Cause even when he cant shoot he looks at his wrist and we can't see whats goin' on their.
We do get many views of his wrist and on the main poster where he is jumping towards us about to shoot some web we cant see how the web can get out. Can the web just go through his suit? And in the comics does Peter make a web shooting gadget or somethin'?
Also thats a pretty expensive looking suit with some high tech (seeming) materials. How could Peter possiby make this thing?
And yes the chip on the back of Dock Ocs' neck is a bit too fragile and unprotected for my liking (As someone already mentioned). But the tentacles could simply be a prototype or somethin.
And yes as someone else pointed out the tentacles are an amazing invention of their own which don't get much praise. (Someone else also brought this up)
Anyway these aspects of the film may seem a bit silly but this is just the nature of a comic book movie and I like some of these. I have just took some things that people have said which have gotten me thinking and thoughts of my own. I'm not trying to steal anyone's thunder or act like a "know it all" and try to take over someone else's thread I just wanna bring up some more points and ask some questions whilst letting out some thoughts of mine.
Also the whole Venom being that guy (sorry just suddenly forgot his name you know who I mean anyway) idea is great. The type of thing that I'm gonna be tellin' everyone which I couldn't think of myself. Don't ya jus' love this site!
Well I'm rambling on a bit here and Im sorry but I am just so excited after watching the movie JUST A FEW HOURS AGO! I was counting the days and the hours since I first viewed the trailer on this site.
Again Im sorry for the rambling with the spelling and grammer (I typed this realy fast) but what a great movie!
Raimi definately delivered and I'm sure that he will again with Spider-man 3

I mean how do the people close to Peter not know that he is Spider-man because he talks to them and everythin!
I expect it's the suit that muffles the voice. It's hard to tell especially when he's strained (fighting the bad guys). Like how kidnappers put a cloth over the receiver and nobody can recognize them by their voice.
Also can somebody please tell me [B]where the hell does the web come from?
LOL Good point there ken. It probably comes out of the suit I guess. They should've made him leave a hole or something in the wrist area of his suit. Something else I was thinking about is how he sticks to the walls when he's got his suit on? Do the micro-hooks on his fingers penetrate the material?
Also thats a pretty expensive looking suit with some high tech (seeming) materials. How could Peter possiby make this thing?
Another good point. I was wondering that myself, and especially since his suit gets burnt, torn and shredded so many times in the two movies. Another thing... spoilers below...
In SM 2 we get a look in his closet and there's only one suit, so if one is torn, how does he make another so quickly?
Also in SM 2, his suit is found in the dump and immediately J. Jonah Jameson knows it is THE Spider-Man's suit. Why doesn't he think someone made one similar or bought it from the shop or something... there'd probably be plenty of Spider-Man suits in halloween costume shops. After all the guy in the lift seemed to be un-shaken, and it seemed like he believed it was just a regular man in a Spider-Man costume. So surely there must've been imitation suits around in the city.
+ "Hellboy" looks realy crappy and stupid especialy when compared to the Spidey movies (although I aint' seen Hellboy yet it just looks crap)
It was total crap. I actually felt stupid being in that theatre - And I don't usually feel stupid watching even kiddie shows like The Tigger Movie! Come'on - nazis as villains has been done before and getting old. And the son of Satan - a cigar smoking red guy with a giant left arm and two sawed horns as your typical hero? Only the guy with fins was somewhat interesting. Oh and the rest of it just felt like old fashioned WW2 propaganda - the allies are good godly self-sacrificing guys while the axis powers are evil, satanic and their hobbies are messing with black magic and reviving the dead/monsters for their sinister bidding. Thanks for reminding me... I completely left this out of the thread - 10 worst films of the year. :p

As for the comments... I think Doc had absolute and complete control over his arms, as he wouldn't have attempted the experiment otherwise. Also, he catches a wine glass without breaking it, clearly not a clumsy move.
In the first film they show that Peter has some growths on his wrists (new glands maybe) where the webs come from. This was an intentional change by Stan Lee. He claims back in the 60s the comic would never have made it onto the stands if he didn't add the web shooters to the suit (to weird with the glands he claims).
As for Batman zipping in and drop kicking an innocent doorman who was only doing his job, I highly doubt that. Batman would NEVER uses violence on an innocent, even an annoying one.
Re: Hellboy I found this to be a wonderful sci fi flick. All the reasons some have listed as to why it is bad, are why I consider it head and shoulders better than many poorly crafted hero flicks (Daredevil, The Hulk, Shumacher Batman, Superman III and IV, The Punisher, the list goes on). Ron Perlman's character is extremely original. He was compassionate, funny, and convincing. I kind of have to agree with Kitty (you seem like a cool cat btw) about the nazi thing being overdone. However, I see many attacking Spidey II for slight deviation from the comics, and Hellboy was just sticking to it's source material. I applaud Del Toro for his work on Hellboy, and will watch it again when it hits DVD, as it is dripping with original style. The effects in this film were great as well, if not a bit on the slimy side.
Scope out my review thread in the film review section for more thoughts on Hellboy if interested in another angle. I think Beale also posted a stellar review of the film, citing some other interesting ideas.
Spidey II is top notch though, and if they bring doc back, I will be disappointed. Time for something new (Venom please). I think they will use the Ultimate version of Venom if they go that route though ,and have it be a creation of Peter's father that he stumbles upon and attempts to get back into researching (Bio-suit to help in the fight against cancer).
I think the movie was excellent in every aspect of the word. The plot was witty, had moments of genuine comedy ( I laughed so damn hard when Peter fell from the roof, holy ****! ) and moved at a decent pace. I have no complaints with this movie except for the obvious loopholes that you have to go through to make a Movie adaption of a comic book. Overall it was a perfect 10/10.
I've been hearing some rumors of Venom being in the third movie. Rest assured, these are just rumors. The story of the symbiote suit would take up a huge section of the movie and not leave much room for The Lizard or Green Goblin #2. Since these will probably be the main villians in the third and final movie. That's right, it's only a triology.
And to all those people who said the movie's haven't been faithful to the comic books. Your ****ing retarded. Of course they can't make them exact, you think they can fit thousands of hours of reading time into roughly 8 hours of movie time? C'mon...gimme a brake. They had done a fantastic job thus far and I believe the third will be 100X better than the second. With Stan Lee and Sam Raimi at the helm, nothing can go wrong.
And to all those people who said the movie's haven't been faithful to the comic books. Your ****ing retarded.

Sorry for rambling on so harshly about Hellboy Sedai, I admit I haven't read a Hellboy comic so I didn't see it in that angle. You are right about the film needing to stick to the source material first of all. I totally agree... and I was as disappointed as you with those superhero movies you've described as poorly crafted.
I love superhero films, and often expect a lot out of them - especially after landmark films like the first two Batman movies, Superman, X-Men, Spider-Man and even Zorro. There is just so much potential for these films to snag a blockbuster judging from how popular the comics already are. Like making a film about Michael Jackson or Britney Spears - the directors don't exactly need to introduce their character too much since it has already been introduced via other means. They only need to portray it well, or to convert to screen a comic bestseller. It's just surprising sometimes how people can turn such a perfectly crafted character into such a major flop (on the top of my list; Schumacher's Batman).
So I'm very glad that Spider-Man has done so very well where so many others have failed - despite the minor discrepancies. I agree with Ken that its flaws make it somewhat perfect in a strange way. But every little mistake is a good chance for improvement in the third movie, because the audience is just gonna expect more and more from Sam Raimi. Let's hope our humble suggestions go towards the refining process of the film so that Spider-Man 3 can outdo part 2, as amazingly impossible that is!
ps: Sedai, you'd probably appreciate the Hellboy site I did for my company while the film was running http://www.planetmg.com/NewProd/promo/Hellboy/ ;) Enjoy!
Right on! And no need to apologize, we are here to discuss! ;)

Hi all,
I think I disagree with the hobgoblin part...
I respect your opinion very much and it makes a lot of sense but I think the comedy helped the movie overall. I'm usually not one to say something like that because usually in movies, if the plot doesn't hold up, they'll cram the script with comedy. This film isn't very dark, unlike Batman and so you can get away with comedy and the movie was great anyway so the comedy just adds to the intricate design of the screenplay Spiderman 2 had.

It really saddens me to hear of how people praise the qualities behind the storymaking and the various aspects to Peter Parker's life, whilst at the same time remaining ignorant of the very industry that spawned Spiderman...the comics industry. Ignorant of the fact that the industry is in relative, if not total decline due to various reasons, but reasons that could be avoided if the movie business were honourable enough to grant it a last push for survival.
But sadly no, certain persona non grata are willing to feed off the corpses of others just so they may themselves be futhered by whatever means possible.
Listen, when you next watch a Marvel movie or whatever movie relating to a comic (like Catwoman or Daredevil or The Hulk), just remember that the movies industry owes a lot to comics when it came to the creativity of certain classics like Blade Runner and others. Take the time to browse the comic stores to see what you can find because believe me, if you thought that Spiderman2 was good, us comic goers have had these sorts of things - these sorts of emotional storylines, for years.

led zepplin, jimi hendrix
LINKIN PARK, the offspring, yellowcard
tupac, eminem, dmx, ludacris, snoop, dre
afrodite, the asian invasion, portia sureal, rob bishop
and whatever else is hot at the time, I'm not going to bad mouth you for bad mouthing the king of modern rock but if its not your taste in music I would like to know what is?
I like to listen to what I find sounds good I guess, all different styles:
Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Snoop, Porcupine Tree, Soundgarden, Muse, JS Bach, Opeth, Rush, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Jimi Hendrix, Bjork, Joe Satriani, Queensryche, Tori Amos, Megadeth, Eminem, Thievery Corporation, Glenn Gould, Chopin, Tool and...
many various psychedelic trance artists, which I have on vinyl (I spin from time to time) including some of the following...
Simon Posford, Antix, Hux Flux, Son Kite, Protoculture, Oliver Lieb, Logic Bomb, Shpongle, Saffi Bros, Psysex, X-Dream, Atmos, Timo Maas .... the list goes on as I have hundreds of pieces of vinyl.
The ummm, king of modern rock? Exactly how modern, like this week modern? Linkin Park has some pretty tight tunes, but they didn't write them, and they are all very derivative of themselves. The formula will only work for so long....
wtf is this language! please post in Lamen's terms and try to use the English dictionary.
But, decent point society (of non-comic book nerds) should recognize and appreciate what comics have done for these movies they charish.

I suppose with all the mega hype, who could guess what people were expecting? I thought it did really well in my book, despite the prior expectations too. That was hard to beat but they did it! No doubt Spider-Man 1 was good, but 2 was better in ways... built a little more on Parker's character. And I liked that they fleshed out his character. Which is a little rare for comic superhero movies.
My List of Favorite Super Hero Movies in Order
1. Spider-Man 2
2. Batman
3. Batman Returns
4. Donnie Darko
5. X2
6. SuperMan
7. Spider-Man
8. Van Helsing
9. X-Men
10. DareDevil
Spider-Man 2 is way better then i thought.

I think that Spiderman 2 was the best movie of the year. It's definetely gonna get some serious nominations at the Academy Awards. This was the best fight scene between Spidey and Doc Ock i've seen since the first movie. 5 and 1/2 stars out of 5 for SpiderMan 2. Like Will Ferrell qoutes in Old School "That's awesome, man!"
hey guys... I wanna tell you something that i noticed towards the end of the film.. MJ ( Mary Jane), when she is tied up and it is raining... you get to see her lovely rounds nipples ( god i wished i touched em ) what do you GUYS think? like em or not?
KittyJunkie

Didn't she already show them off in Spider-Man 1 (the upside-down kiss scene)? She must either be obsessed with her nipples, or she doesn't know how to use a bra.
lol, does not know how to use a bra... but the nips a C00L

i noticed some bizarre things during this film....
Let me apologise if any of these have all ready been mentioned, if they have, tell me rudely and i shall run away.
Firstly, did anyone notice the scar on Tobey Maguires (sp?) face? It was on his right cheek i think. The weird thing about it is that its in the shape of a 2! Sometimes it looks like an S but it looks like a little number 2 on his cheek most of the time, i havnt noticed this in the last film, bizarre huh? i just couldnt stop staring at it. i think someone told me they read he said its just an old scar and its just a coincidence...that may have been a dream though....why i would dream about that...who knows.
Secondly, with all the mention of Peters Uncle Ben popping up throughout the film, it made me very hungry. Over here in the Uk we have a food company called Uncle Bens, they make rice, stir fry sauces etc. The packaging has the face of a beaming old black man with white hair on the front, smiling at his customers, and whenever the mention of "Uncle Ben" came up in the film, all i could envisage was that nice old african-American man smiling at Peter serving him Rice and Sweet and Sour Chicken....
Did anyone else have this problem?
Yeah...the miricles of Uncle Ben's fine home cookin has made its way to the US as well. Or perhaps we had it first, in which case, BACK OFF!
:):)
Spider-man 2 was a great flick, I have seen it a grand total of 3 times in the movie theature. I am sad to say I havn't beat my record for Spider-man 1 that I saw 5 times in the theature. So I have to go see it three more times hehe. But I will write a review for this someday in my Review Thread, But really great movie. On my top 25 list that I am going to make someday hehe.

Spider-man 2 rocked. I couldn't wait to see the thing. When I saw the thing I was AMAZED! It was better than the first. It always will be.
THERE ARE MILD SPOILERS NOTHING SERIOUS i had written this last night after my screening. so i know all of you will watch this movie because it is the best summer movie this year

10/10
I bought the 2-disc special edition the day of release. Spiderman 2 was awesome. Especially with Doc Ock. And Kirsten Dunst is so hot she sizzles. I'm hoping director Sam Raimi or whoever helms no. 3 will permit her and Peter to have at least one roll in the sack.

In the Spidey comics, Harry DID find his dad's stuff once, had a nervous breakdown, and tried to become the Goblin-- but he was completely inept and Peter had to save him from himself.
A newer version came years later-- the Hobgoblin-- but although Harry was a key suspect, it turned out to be someone else.
Dr Kurt Connors (Pete's professor in the movie) is the Lizard-- so look for him & Harry in the 3rd flick!!
Spiderman 2 was a truly good movie. Some review that I have hear from people was that it was too predictable. HA! Well that is the essence of this genre. The Action/Super Hero is supposed to have this element - but what made this movie so good, was that it was well balanced by surprises too.
The filming in this movie was outstanding. Particularly the scene that starts with panning across the buildings focusing on the bees, panning down to see the reflection and into the coffee shot to do a close up of Dunst. Brilliant! And all one shot. Beautifully put together.-Excellent Gripping and Directing!
The story line was great - thrilling, intriguing, touching - this sequel really rounded the characters - the true crisis of the main character was portrayed beautifully. Well done! I wonder if there will be a third?
i noticed some bizarre things during this film....

Uncle Ben looked rough. Did he have a stroke before the filming of the second movie? Does anyone know?

Though seemingly impossible but just encase you have not seen the movie yet there are major spoilers ahead
I was deeply disappointed with Spider-man 2. Doc Oct one the most famous of all Marvel villians was to me a side note in this film. His role seemingly fades away from the picture as Peter Parker gribs with the loss of his powers. The action scenes where far apart amongst the annoying dripple drapple of a whinny Peter Parker. I understand that dialoge is an important part of the Spider-man comic series and the development with Spider-man character, but the movie just took it a little to far. The loss of his super powers came too soon in this franchise. I believe they should have waited until the third movie when Harry Osborn new of Peter Parkers identity to make a more urgent need for the regain of Peter's powers. At this point in the series Peter's only had the powers for two years, it was just too soon for him to be struggling with his super hero lifestyle. The movie is about Peter's power loss, that plot point takes center stage as Doc Oct jumps in for a moment or two to cause trouble. His role in the film is treated like a joke. His simply the villian for the need of a villian. The character that is Doc Oct is supreme. A triumph for the Marvel world. A deep character such as that should not a side note in the film. The movie should have focused on Doc Oct's desent into madness as Peter Parker coups with lossing a mentor. The enternal struggle with Peter should not been over his powers, but in having to fight a once good man. Also the return of the burning building was waste of film.
And having MJ discover Spider-man's true identity by the second movie really really pissed me off!!!! Way too soon. Harry, I am fine with, and actually like that plot twist, but MJ. NO. The marriage should gone without a hitch adding to Peter's suffering, and then making the delicate balance between Peter Parker and Spider-man all the more fragile and frustrating for Peter. It just seemed that Peter didn't deserve her yet. That he just hadn't been put through enough hell. The reward didn't justify the means.
Predictions: I hoping the third movie will consist of the Lizard (since the docter has already been introduced) and Harry's unleashing of his villian side unto to the public. Even though it may torchure me in the long run I think Venom is worth the wait (of the fourth movie). However with the outcome of the second movie I worried about this franchise's future.

I thought Spiderman 2 was probably the best movie of 2004 that I've seen thus far. It was wonderful. I had to get it immediately when it came out on DVD. I'm surprised that I was so moved by a superhero film.
Definately a great movie. The drama was just riveting. One of the best movie I've seen last year.
