Missing MoFos

Alas, with the ease of use that such a forum comes with, comes a similar ease to just up-and-disappear one day without a trace. This thread is to keep track of the MoFos who either more or less vanished, or, in some cases, have just been too dang busy to grace us with their presence. I'll edit this post to reflect others' suggestions every now and then.

The cutoff I've chosen is about a month without any activity (generally), and at least a few hundred posts. Here's a few off the top of my head...those in maroon have been known to stop in now and then, briefly.

I am truly saddened that all of this has happened, for Jason, for myself, and for you guys. I never wanted this to happen. MoFo has been a great thing for me, but time has changed and I have changed and we're moving on, Jason and I. I know how you are, Brian, and I know you were drunk, but it does hurt me that you threatened to fly down here and hurt someone who's protected me and provided for me and loved me for a long time now. Jason and I have been together since November 2003 and I plan to be with him till the day I die and then beyond. I invited Jason to join MoFo last year because I wanted him to share something that made me happy, but it hasn't made him happy. I know that he's certainly tried to fit in here, and he wanted the same kind of love and adoration that I get from all of you. I know you all don't know him well, but it would have made me happy if he had received that. Certainly, many of you did greet him with kindness and you welcomed him in his introductory thread.

But, I dunno... maybe MoFo has shown Jason things about me or my past that he doesn't like to think about. He said that I was different here than I am in real life. That's probably made him uncomfortable, and I completely understand. I have been pissed off many times before over things that are a part of his life. He's stopped talking to certain people and has even stopped doing certain things just for me, because he loves me more than anyone else. I should give that kind of love back to him. I tried to before - I stayed away from Movie Forums for him. But when I saw that you guys were missing me, I wanted to come back and he said that if it would really make me happy, I can. But it doesn't make him happy. There are many personal reasons for these kind of things, but he finds some of you (Bri, Matt) awful and doesn't understand why I'd want to hang around here. I have to completely respect this because it could have been me in his position. If I didn't like him hanging around Movie Forums, I would be hellbent on getting him to stop going there - HELLBENT!

If you wanna hate us now, that's fine. I have enough good memories of Movie Forums to just go on. I'm leaving Movie Forums now for Jason and for myself, for my growth and for our mutual happiness. I'm very proud to be a part of MoFo's history and I'm happy that I helped many of you and touched your lives. But it's time to move on. Please embrace some new people who come around here. Give someone new the love and attention you all gave me. Replace me.

I have indeed been busy, and it's been a crazy kind of busy-ness. Some of you know this already via a hastily written PM, but some don't, so... Troy and I are separated, and we're planning to divorce. I've been on my own for a month now--well, the kind of "on my own" where I live with a roommate--and we're all just trying to adjust to the changes, Selena included (but she's doing very well, to my intense relief).

And now I'm trying to figure out how to make a life for myself after leaving the man I'd been in love with since I was 16. And adjusting to being a part-time single parent. And learning how to be happy with--and getting to know--me as just me, not me as Mary-and-Troy me. It's sad and scary and exciting and good, all at the same time.

So. That's what I've been doing with myself this year. (I'd put a Smilie up, but there is no Smilie that accurately depicts my wry mental tone, so I'll just leave it go.)

And I missed MoFo and all y'all, too. Christ, I'm sorry to hear about Jason. I'm also more than a little worried about his situation with his guy, from the way it sounds in that post--and is eerily familiar, which is both sad and creepy--but from the sound of it, I'm not the only one. :(

Yeah, it was a shock for pretty much everyone we knew. Troy and I had been dealing with it, just the two of us, since January, but we'd managed to keep it from becoming public knowledge. Which was incredible, considering how miserable we both were.

But that is a long damn story that I'm not going to post in a thread. Things are better now, for both of us, even if they aren't perfect as of yet. And the right decision has been made. I'm confident of that.

And I agree with you on the age thing. It's harder to believe that you had nothing to do with the situation when you're older, I think--partly because, when you're a teenager, you're pretty sure everything revolved around you. But Troy and I have both been vigilant about making sure Selena knows a) she is loved, and b) we will always be there for her. It helps that we're still friends, as much as we can be--although that's messy, too.

Thanks, Tim. And, you know, that's kind of it. It hurt so bad when I realized that we couldn't make it work, and when I realized my first love was over, but I couldn't be who I was with him--because who I was made him unhappy, and I wanted him to be happy, so I did all the compromising. But--and I'm done (mostly) feeling guilty about this--now I'm starting to be happy again, in a whole different way.

Cripes, I'm sorry. I've talked about this so much, with so many people, over the past month or two, that I immediately go into "ramble-mode" whenever I talk about it. :blush: Yes, it's hard, and painful. But it's going to be good for all three of us, ultimately. So I'm going to stop blabbing about it.

Sexy Celeb-or Jason- was this odd, little, entity. He used to be in the practice of posting pictures of his "sexy" self in almost any thread. He was funny, energetic and made almost no sense most of the time. I believe he went to school with OG-.
I think he had some sort of gender identity issue that he was more than capable of making light of. He was a joy to read and he is missed.

That I did. I took photojournalism with Jason in...10th grade, he would have been in 11th. He was a writer and I was the production manager. How's that for role playing! Anyways...I wasn't the actual one who directed him to MoFo, to be honest I didn't know him all that well at the time, but I believe he got directed here via Steve who I did demand start posting here...if memory serves I think Steve took photojournalism our junior year and Jason was taking it again (not because he failed, but because it was an awesome class).

Though I could be wrong and he found the site of his own accord, which would be pretty cool, but I think both he and Steve wrote about movies for the paper...

Nah...I'm actually not entirely sure what he is up to now. I know he moved back to Northern VA (he was going to a college down in Jacksonville, FL) a couple months ago. We share alot of the same friends and we'll actually be working together on a movie project next summer, but Steve and I have gotten into some tension as of late over some political debates that occured else where, so here's to hoping it doesn't taint next summer's experience.

Gender Identity Issue? You may have thought so due to the many men-in-drag posts, such as the Miss MoFo contest, which JRS won. I don't do drag though - not that I never would, but I will always live as a man. I'm sure I could have handled being a real woman if I had been born one... unless I was like a really ugly one, maybe. I think sex changes are a horrible mistake. How could you get used to different genitalia? Trade in your car or your cell phone, not your penis!

i am trying to come back, it's a little weird, cuz there's so many new people and all the conversations have moved on without me and you know, if you had a wild swagger once all over a room cuz you knew every centimeter of it and you come back and it's been repainted, has new clientele and has been retiled there's an extreme risk of sticking your stiletto heel into the wrong crack and BAM! breaking not only your heel but your backend and everyone's fabulous time has been ruined.

ANYWAY! so i'm creeping through tryin ta relearn the landscape but also as i got older (DUDE! i've been with mofo for at least FIVE YEARS dear GOD) i guess i got ... dareisayit ... less addicted ... but no less fond, i swear. i guess as you fall out of the convos you have less investment in them, you know? so it's harder to get back in and stay in.

anyway i'm babbling. i've also had like 5 lower back surgeries with this chronic thing that hasn't gotten better, my job dicks me around and all i really wanna do is write and be an actress singer and be done with all the corporate hooliganship.

What happened to Cries&Whispers?Cries&Whispers was just a generally all-around cool guy. He would often speak of his romantic escapades, drinking routines, and passion for Bergman. Whenever a list thread appeared, his was always the most epic; second only to mark f, harry lime, and linespalsy.

The last time I saw him, he said he was late for work at the bank. That was around the time we all watched A Serbian Film. He goes to school too, so I'm sure that has him occupied. The only reason I'm able to straddle both worlds is because I have essentially no social life.

I know. When he was here it was a lot. He left right after he saw The Green Hornet movie. Must have turned him off of movies forever. Another possibility: Me, him, and somebody else whose name I can't remember right now and hasn't been around lately either were online when the perv confessed, then Destiny showed up and banned him. I am the only witness left of that. Maybe he is eliminating all the witnesses.
