Does anyone here own an MP3 player which they would recommend? Testimonials concerning the iPod or iPod Mini would be of particular interest.

I have an MP3 cd player which is pretty good. You just fill up the cd which all your mp3's (that's about 10 albums of good quality).

I was thinking of getting an I-Pod but I think it's because everyone has them, they're so darn fashionable.

I have a RIO 20 GB hard drive mp3 player that I absolutely love. I've converted about 70 albums onto it as of yet, with plenty more of my collection to come.

I think it is called Rio Karma.

It is heavier than some of the Ipods since it has so much space for music, so if you're looking for something to work out to, I do not reccomend it. It's more of a walking around the city type player, or long drives in which you don't have to drive.

I have a fairly cheap "UMP3", 128 MB, Fits about 30- 35 songs, Very small and doubles as a Flash card, Its all i need and want, The volume control got stuck on full a few weeks ago so i had to listen to it very loud, But the warranty covered it and its getting fixed at the moment.

Thanks everyone. Please, keep the testimonials coming.

I hear it has a somewhat low battery life (8 hours), but it still sounds like more than I'd never need, and most regard it as the best around in virtually every area aside from that. Has anyone here used one?

Is the battery built in with the Ipod? I've heard problems of changing it and you don't want to have to shell out for a new one once the rechargable starts to die.

Yeah, I heard the same thing. Apparently the built-in battery lasts about 18 months, and can be replaced for $99. I've also heard that for about $50 you can buy something which allows it to run on replacable batteries, though, and I've heard some testimonials from people who said that theirs have lasted longer than advertised, and are still going.

So, at about $250, it's a tough call, which is why I'm asking around. :)

I've got a Rio Riot which is good, but a bit bulky. It holds 5000 good quality songs, as well as having radio capabilities. I have a friend with an I pod which is good, but I'm not sure which version it is. He likes his, it holds a lot of songs of good quality, is slim and looks good. But I know a guy who dislikes his and says it broke.

Pick and ipod. Its can store over 10,000 songs depending on which one you get. It has games and on-the-go playlists. Its not cheap but its worth it.

You can also check out the ipod mini which is smaler than a deck of cards and can store up to 1,000 songs it has the same amount of games as the original, and its cheaper ($250)

each one requires you to have iTunes a Mac 0s.x Or a Windows

I own a iPod Mini, its good, I like it, the battery isn't all that great as mentioned before, but its easily charged and it charges quickly.

The sound playback is good and there is easily enough space for what I want. Haven't had any major problems with it at all.
