I completely disagree with anybody taking pictures of flag draped coffins and release them to the public. I believe it's wrong and should be prevented because Amercians already know the sacrifice of war. We don't need to see pictures to understand the sacrifice, we've learned it time and time again. I also believe that the families, who have lost a loved one, shouldn't have to go though seeing their loved ones' coffins on TV. It might be reality but, we don't need to see it to understand. I'd hope that the news reporters would have courtesy for the families of the fallen ones.
I'd just like to know you views on this subject. This isn't a thread to just attack me ;). Well, what's your views?

I believe we do need to see it to understand. It's real, it's relevant, it's current, and it's a fact of life. I believe I also have a choice (for now, anyway) whether or not to look at it as well. Last time I checked, televisions have an off switch. The idea that some transnational communications conglomerate is deciding what I should or shouldn't be exposed to is what scares the hell out of me.

I have read the news articles about this "coffin photo" problem and quite frankly I don't think its that big a deal. Recently the dying photograph of Princess Di has been released as well and its being called disrespectful, yet I see no harm in that photo either.
These pictures of the coffins I didn't think it was done in an inappropriate way and there should be "freedom of the press". From a personal stand point I can only say that this photo and princess Di's photo did not make an impact on me, nor do I think it will last in my memory. I think that all this "outrage" is merely a cover story to divert the attention from the issues that really matters.... such as the war in IRAQ.
Finally I would like to add that I have seen pictures and footage in the news many times (as in not once) of murdered victim's coffins behind lead out of the church as family members mourn and plead to the public to turn the murderer in.
The families of those in the coffins should have the only say so in this, if its okay with them, then cool, if not then by god we should respect that and not our own wishes.

Respect for another human being is sometimes best recognized when their dead. Let's not confuse human life with a photo-op. Instead, look at how many of our fellow brethren have died for what we may, or may not believe in. Just a thought......

i have to agree..i don't think that these things should be kept from the public..i think we have a right as free thinking people to be able to do or say as we like without reprecussions...if you don't want to see it or hear about it you have the option to switch it off, at your descretion..
my two cents
The problem here is not whether "we" want to see it, the problem is: Do the families want us to see it? If it was a family member of mine in question; I would not mind the photos, but thats just me. I could see how it would upset other famlies. They should have been asked first.
