Did Castle always do these introductions?
Mr Sardonicus is a cool title.
Did Castle always do these introductions?
He did them frequently it seems. I'm not sure how many of his films have a prologue by him.
More directors should do prologues to their films. It could be fun.
Unlike most of the films we watch, a few of these people are still alive. Out of the movies we have watched, I bet this one has most cast members still living.
During its initial theatrical release, attendees were given small white cards with luminous thumbs with which to vote thumbs-up or thumbs-down.
That reminds me, I need to pick up some leeches at the pharmacy.

mostly women. the one thing about watching old movies is that women live longer than men.
That slop in the bowl doesn't look very good.
Nice costumes and sets in this.
I need to get a mask like that.
why didn't sir robert question the mask?
why didn't sir robert question the mask?
Maybe he was worried it would be perceived as rude or impolite if he questioned him about it.
"You are a very pretty little thing."
Women like it when you call them pretty little things...
I like the floating heads.
Ronald Lewis looks like David Hasselhoff

Now that you mention it, I do see the resemblance.
"How do women usually persuade men...?" ;)
Good use of sound opening the coffin.
Very effective reveal of his face.
This was entertaining. I liked the performances. Good costumes, sets, and atmosphere. 7/10 is my rating.
My take
Similar to the Hammer productions from the same era. The movie has a bunch of no name British actors even though I assume it was filmed in the USA. The movie has all the elements - a baron living in a castle in a remote area with a deformed sidekick, the younger wife who hates him and the smart doctor who the baron needs to cure him. The premise is good and I liked the psychosomatic twist with the long suffering sidekick getting his revenge by just eating and letting the baron die a slow, hungry death. If you're looking for gore this is not your movie. I don't think one person is killed on screen but for a Castle movie it works for the most part. 7/10
I didn't like the gimmicky audience participation. Not a fan of actors or directors acknowledging the audience.
